      Ummmm….I don’t think I said anything at all about which car I think is the all-time best. I was commenting on styling. And the 430 is a Japanese attempt to do a faux Mercedes, LMFAO. The 460 was true Japanese Luxury design, original and fresh. Drive your copy and be happy. The 430 is a mechanically strong car. Not the “best car ever” but very good. And there’s nothing wrong with a fake Rolex if it keeps time. Enjoy.

    • @LordPrometheous
      @LordPrometheous 4 месяца назад +2

      @@ONI1013. The LS platform has so many control arms for the front suspension alone, that the OEM replacements will cost about $1000. This was maybe 3 years ago when I had mine, but you can get an aftermarket Mevotec kit for $800 total. The labor would be around 4 hours for basic suspension, 5 hours of labor for Air suspension models. It has a very complex front end suspension. It was night and day difference to my IS. I owned both. The air filters weren't bad, and you can get Toyota models. Maybe $60 for two airbox filters and the cabin filters. 9 quarts of oil, not sure about the transmission fluid, b/c it's too complex to do at home. I'd recommend a shop for that b/c it's not so simple like other vehicles. They have the Brembo brakes b/c it's an L version, I guess. I had the base model, still big brakes, just not Brembo, and the pads and rotors were $380 for the front, from the Lexus dealer (not bad at all, consider how huge the brakes are). As far as what they charge to do all this, there's no telling. It said 2 months, but who knows how many hours per day they spent. I'd guess the labor and detailing would be $5K for a customer, plus parts. Beyond that you'd have to ask if it's the last car you'll ever buy, because it would be hard to justify to do all that, just to eventually sell to someone else.

    • @ONI1013.
      @ONI1013. 4 месяца назад +3

      @@LordPrometheous There no way everything seen there was $5k. A complete set of front Ceramic Brembo brakes pads, rotors, calipers for an LS460 will be close to $3-5k alone for front kits 32mm disc 1M1.9018A2.

    Spend 2500 at first, then spend 15k in repairs. Amazing job, but these are the most expensive lexus's to repair and own. Every injector loves to crack or leak, the valley pan loves to leak and in order to remove it you have to take the front timing cover off aswell as the accessories among other things. The starter loves to crap out because its under the exhaust manifold and gets heat soaked, ie you have to remove the manifold, the air suspension loves to crap out, all of the bushings and arms can be really expensive aswell, and not going OEM really does not pay off as you end up redoing it even sooner than the original did with EVERY one of these parts that do go bad. All of these things I've seen as low as 70k miles. Warning to anyone watching this video thinking of doing the same, beware, these are cheap for a reason, they're more up there with Mercedes in terms of maintenance needed and cost, yes if its well taken care of, you might get ahead of these things, but its still very expensive to own.

      @deimosphob 20 дней назад

      @@johnneilson377, he has an LS430. Those are actually fairly cheap to fix and maintain, but that's the cost to fully and properly repair mileage out of a car. The LS460s are a completely different animal. A headlight could cost you 2k, an injector costs you 300 a pop, and there are 8 of them that tend to crack when you do the job for the valley pan that leaks every 60-120k. Had it been an ls460 at those miles hed be in the 100k range.

    I'm curious to know what kind of internal engine damage there might be. Most people who let that many maintenance issues slide on their cars, don't take care of just the engine. I wouldn't be surprised if the rings were on their last leg or the cylinders were completely matted in carbon buildup. Maybe some severely worn clutches in the transmission and some cooked seals.
    I would like to add, though, that it's not lost on me, the incredible workmanship and care that you've put into that car. It's admirable, and it looks incredible. Very nice work, guys. I don't believe, they can match original suspension with the aftermarket. I tried, but it didn't work like the old ones.

    This would be a worthwhile project if you could find a good honest mechanic that would actually do all of this work without cutting corners,i.e., not using factory parts, not actually replacing the parts, and or doing a half-ass job. In this case, these mechanics did an exceptional job. 6:56 The owner of this beautiful restored Lexus will have at least 10 more years driving a reliable great looking classic vehicle.

    Beautiful car! The LS 460 is my dream car. Amazing repair and detail work on this car! In researching the LS 460 online, I have seen where just replacing the front and rear suspension could cost around 10k. I would love to know how much the total cost was to bring this car back to life from start to finish including parts and labor? Take care. 😀👍🏼
