Parker 75 Godron Review

- In this video I review the Parker 75 Godron fountain pen (and, in less detail, the matching ballpoint pen). I think it's a very nice, 14k gold plated pen, with some interesting features, such as an adjustable nib angle.

Nice. I inherited a Parker Presidential Solid 9ct Godron fountain pen unused in its box with original paperwork dated 1987.
I was gifted a Cizelle (the 75 Sterling Silver) as a grad gift in 1981. Those grooves in the ring are clearly marked on mine. I have an aerometric converter but check around the web, it can be fitted with a standart cartridge converter. Writes wonderfully (mine is a medium nib that writes as a double broad) and as time goes by and gets smoother it just flows through the page.
I still have my dad's Parker 51 that was my first love early as a small child. This I don't use anymore, I preserve it because it's very dear, but the 75 has seen regular use since then and I can't complain. It's rugged, beautiful and the rotating nib is a great thing I've never seen in any other pen. Cherish it, it's well worth it!
I definitely do!
the 75 was the biggest seller for parker and they stopped making them in way for the new sonnet range in the 90's. I'm really considering collecting several of them as they look amazing and not bad writers either. Wouldn't suggest people to collect a lot of the sonnets as they have been the biggest target for the chinese to replicate. But the 75 is a under-rated model when it comes down to design.
It looks like that model is from 74 or newer. If you want a more exact date to that one contact Grandmia RUclips channel. He can give you a more exact date to the pen. And they actually came with a turning key. So you can put it to your liking. Beautiful pen btw :)
What beautiful writing you have!
Thank you for the review. The set obviously has a lot of sentimental value to you, so thanks for sharing your thoughts on it on RUclips.
Re: the material under the gold plating of the pens, I believe it is brass. Check the
excellent info on the Godron model (and other Parker '75' pens) at the website Parker75(dot)com---> click on the "Reference" link, then the "Index" tab, and select "Godron" to read up on this particular finish. The website indicates it was made from 1968 onwards.
How nice it is your Grandfather's pen
Enjoy the pen but most of all the beautiful memories
Regards
Peter
The 75 and the vp are great for left handers
Stephen (if I may call you that), your pen cannot date from 1974 because the dating code Parker now uses wasn't introduced until 1979-80. Parker pens between 1956 and 1979 have no dating code. Your pen dates from first quarter (E) 1974 (I), the year coming first and the quarter (indicated by E C L I for first second third fourth) following it. A beautiful pen! Thanks for showing it.
Sorry! I meant, of course, that it dates from 1984, not 1974. I got stuck in the disco craze, but your pen escaped it.
Thank you@
There are some beautiful 75s in cisele sterling and gold on ebay to be had for pretty reasonable prices.
Hi Stephen,
Nice review on a very nice Pen.
Was that the Fountain Pen your grandfather used? I remeber you mentioing something like this in one of your videos (I believe it was the How I got into Fountain Pens video)
I Have a Parker 75 too. A Friend of mne gave it to me as he always sees me writing with Fountain Pens.
Min has that typical checkered look. Must say I thinks yours looks more elegant.... It is groovy :-)
I will post some photo's of my 75 on FPN. I do like this pen a lot but the dimeter of the barrel is a bit too small for me
Yes, this was my grandfather's pen!
Have you ever considered buying a sonnet? I have one with a matte chrome body & gilded highlights with a medium nib which is quite smooth.
Oh really? Do get a try of it if you do.I would love to see a review.
I don't know whether you have seen the Parker penography site but it has a section on the 75.It implies the one you have (which is beautiful) was made in '75ish.
I can't decide between one of these or a 51! Any thoughts? Do you own a 51?
Just thought I'd let you know your pen is from between 1964 to 1970 based on the flat tassie on the end of the cap and barrel.
Davide Borrelli Thank you, I appreciate that.
is it non flex nib? looks very stiff
Would you happen to know how much would they go for, say, in an antique shop.
Hey all you sonnet users, using a fine sonnet nib, I feel that the line is more to the broader end. What about you guys?
I've just paid 63 euros for one of these!
Sad to know that China likes to replicate sonnets:(. It makes me feel unsafe when buying sonnets but I've confirmed mine is authentic..
Your pen has flat tassies so it is an earlier model, most likely in the sixties or early seventies.
Thank you!
