Your German pronounciation is great!
I didnt know you were German, Herr Frank. Sehr gut!
Unfortunately babbel doesn't support Japanese, which isn't supported 😢
Fantastisch - ich brauche meinen Lieblings-RUclipsr nicht mehr in Englisch kommentieren - er kann jetzt perfekt Deutsch! Danke Frank, für deine genialen Videos und dafür meine Muttersprache gelernt zu haben! 🤣😂🤣😂😉
As one of your German followers, I was both delighted and disturbed in equal measure to hear you speaking German. And a little bit aroused too.
"But acid isn't the onl -- oh sorry. Butt acid isn't the only thing they have to look out for!"
A great switch-up on the usual joke, and it actually works in this case!
It's cozy in their butt, um, I mean it's cozy in there, but!
I loved that! It was like the long con until it finally worked in reverse, lol.
The switch up made me laugh so hard! His cleverness has always delighted me.
He did it before in a video that mentions gastroenterologists where he says "but doctors, sorry Butt doctors..."
yup hahaha, such a great switch-up.
I used to keep a few fiddler crabs with a moon crab(pretty orange, black and purple land crab). One of the male fiddlers once tried to intimidate the moon crab, about five times it's size. He kept waving his claw, get closer, wave again, get closer. He finally got to the top of the tank where the moon crab was and was waving his claw right in his face. XD The moon crab just grabbed him by the claw and tossed him across the tank. The fiddler was fine except for his pride, which he recovered by going over to a female and doing a victory dance despite having lost.
The story we didn't know we needed
Fiddler crab: alright, we’ll call this one a draw
"Hey baby, you see how I just got thrown across the room by that guy five times my size, and I'm still alive and intact? Don't you want your children to be that durable?"

I remember the original True Facts videos. They were funny, a bit informative, but comparatively short. The True Facts videos we get now are delightful masterpieces of both comedy and informative facts, and I look forward to every video that gets released. Thank you so much for all of your hard work, and for your science hippies who help provide you with amazing videos and information
Yeah they were a funny parody of nature videos and now they are nature videos that are funny
I love the but/butt jokes he does 😂😂😂

I kinda miss the Morgan Freeman voice but idk if I'd want 15mins of it lmao.
6:22 imagine if that hermit crab thing was something people did. Like you're about to get laid, you start undressing, and then some random dude steals your pants.
It’s more like some random dude comes and steals your house, which also happens to be your only pair of pants
and instead of predators, you have police trying to arrest you for public indecency

I contributed about 4 seconds of fiddler crab footage to this video at 13:38 and I feel honored 😂 This channel is amazeballs.
Amazeballs? Ew, how old are you, 40?
Nice! True Facts always have such great footage. Appreciate your contribution!
That’s awesome, thank you for your research and contribution!

Sooo true
Crabs are pretty fascinating. There are so many different kinds with so many weird and amazing adaptations. The biggest arthropods on land and sea, claws half the size of their bodies, wearing other animals for camouflage or protection. No wonder everything keeps evolving into them.
Evolution: I just think they're neat.
Evolution is a lie :D
Agreed
It's called Carcinization.
Hmm...into them, or into their likeness?
Wow, first time I've heard of sponge and decorator crabs, and that there are crabs that carry anemone pom poms. So much to learn from ZeFrank.
I was the same 😅, even posted the same msg.
Let us hope he does lots of sequels because this is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to crabs
Here's a fact. There's also freshwater sponges that are very rare in the aquarium trade. Also, freshwater jellyfish, but everyone knew that, right??
My new favorite crabs.
@@RaptorRockDrakeJesusI didn't 🙋🏻♀️. Thank you 😊
The perfect transitioning from land crab to coconut crab to hermit crab was excellent. Like, smooth to the point where I was waiting for him to go back to coconut crabs before I realized he had just moved on to hermit crabs.
A friend of mine in the navy was stationed on Christmas Island, and woke up covered and surrounded by millions of crabs! Kinda freaked him out!
Woah! Lol. I'd be freaked out too!
The crabs were so close to completing their mission, unfortunately crab-based assassinations follow toy-story rules: you can't do it while being observed by a human.
At least he wasn’t covered by those horrifying ants. 😮
That’s the kind of thing that happens in sleep paralysis, but it’s actually real. Horrifying!
there is no way he hadnt accidentally swallowed a few
The ability of invertebrates to regenerate through molting is amazing! I got a tarantula for Christmas when I was nine years old. At the time I got her, she was missing one of her legs- no idea why or how. Over the course of three or four molts, it grew back completely! The first was actually the most impressive: as small and spindly and shriveled as it was, it had grown under a hard exoskeleton of nothing! With each next molt, it grew back a little bigger and stronger, until it was just as good as of the other legs. Super amazing! Especially for a curious nine / ten year old. I had that pet tarantula for eighteen years. Nature is fascinating!
Didn’t know tarantulas did that.
I had no idea tarantulas could live for almost 2 decades
@@mrjoe332my friend has one that's well over 30. I think it's actually a record, but they don't have the proof of when they got the guy.

@9:11 🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅. That octopus was like "there is no damn way I'm dealing with that nonsense, what in the hell did that crab hit me with??!!"
Why are you laughing at 9/11?!?! How dare you! Never forget! 'Merica!! 😂😂😂
Knowing that coconut crabs are actually gigantic hermit crabs is a bit life changing for me. My little herbies were some amazing pets and I always wanted bigger and bigger ones. Now I know I can get gigantic ones. Side quest unlocked. Acquire coconut crab.
According to what I've read in the researches done on Birgus latro(Coconut Crabs), they wear shells only when they are tiny little babies, like only few mm-long. After they grow a bit more, they abandon the usage of shells. The 'hermit crab' shown in the video as a Coconut crab is actually a Coenobita violascens, another hermit crab.
@@hjfabre All true but the fact remains they are giant hermit crabs. Though it is sad we don't have gigantic land dwelling and shell wearing species hehe.
@@Innomen The closest we get is probably Coenobita brevimanus, the biggest growing species. But imagine having an actual Coconut crab wearing a shell... How terrifying and awesome it will be!
@@hjfabreRight? I fell in love with them as a kid because they are like those toys, Rock Lords. Only cooler XD
Just realize that they may or may not have eaten Amelia Earhart. So you know..... feed them often enough, but not so often that they get big enough to eat you

You know your day will be good when ZeFrank uploads his new content again. Keep up a good work Sir!
In thirty minuets nearly 20k of us also know this.
I had a female fiddler crab who lost all but one leg and one claw to some mudskippers (this combo was recommended to me but clearly it doesn’t always work depending on species), and she had a full set of functional limbs after her next molt! I was honestly impressed, and glad I didn’t put her down before then.
The thing on the tyres was an excellent idea. Something like that would definitely work for other species too, like frogs and toads.
And little tortoises too
Listening to Ze articulate the symbiotic relationship between crab & anemone absolutely made my Sunday. Many thanks ❤
Everytime i see this man post a long video, Theres this unmistakeable amount of joy that fills my body.. Keep it up sir, the energy in these videos is just always comical and informative I love it
I feel the same! I love edutainment an ZeFrank is the master of it!
And I go back and go back and go back just for fun. ZeFrank has been doing True Facts over 15 yrs. The jokes are never stale and the information is always a good biological review.

We rewatched that part at least 5 🤣🤣🤣
Thats funny
My brother passed away in the hospital today. We always watched these together, and we never got a chance to watch this one. He's with morgan freeman now.
Crab and anemone symbiosis has to be my favorite pair. It's always interesting seeing how a crab selects and cultivates their partner
× partner
√ slave
Pom pom crabs: "What partner?"
@@AngryKittensyeah more like slave master and kidnapper look how happy they are after released from their own crabkel
The crab might be purposefuly split the anemone in half when the size is too big and they will regenerate afterward. I think that's how the crab control the size of their pom-poms. Kind of harsh symbiosis.
I was feeling crabby this morning, but a new ZeFrank video always cheers me up in a pinch.
crabby... hehe
I see what you did there 😂
It never fails on these videos that I see 15-20 minutes for the length and think "I'll watch the first 30 seconds, I don't have 15 minutes" and then the whole video is over and I want it to be longer because it's so good.
da hell?? i didn't even realise it was 15 min until you mentioned it! Ze Frank is too good!
I just did the exact same thing!
I don't think I've ever laughed this hard and frequently to a single True Facts video before. By far the most hilarious and witty, both in visual content and narration. Got me right out of my crabby mood! 😂
I am always so excited when I see a new True Facts video. The older ones were so short and more focused on the jokes, but now we get longer, very informative and hilarious videos about nature and it tickles my brain folds in the right way. I’ve been following this channel for years and I find the content just gets better and better as we go.
Coconut crabs terrify me --- still, I want to see one. At a safe distance!
Thank you, Ze. Another genius production.
Coconut Crab: DEATH FROM ABOVE!
Yeah they're crazy. And something to keep in mind about crabs is that they're constantly evolving so Coconut Crabs actually have an ever increasing (albeit quite slowly and minutely) maximum mass because being the largest land invertabrate has proven massively successful.
@@frofrozzty with people eating the largest ones, we are actually finding the biggest individuals being less common in many places (or just never even reaching their maximum size)
I mean, if you're gonna eat an endangered species, the biggest and healthiest ones are likely the best targets so it gives the smaller ones a chance to catch up.@@astick5249

i think myself as a fairly knowledgeable dude about animals and such since i've been passionate about zoology and weird creatures since i was a child, but this man zefrank always finds some even weirder creature to talk about i have never heard before. insane work keep it up
Watching crabs be themselves is so satisfying. I owned a pair of hermit crabs for years and they truly were little characters with attitudes, personalities and lifestyles. Thanks Zee, I was hoping you'd get to hermit crabs someday.
Crabs really do have such wild adaptations! Loved the footage in this one SO much, brought to life facts I knew in passing and the humor as always just puts the best sparkle in my day. Thank you for another amazing True Facts!
Earth truly is a planet mede for various types of crab.
I just gotta say, animals and nature are so cool. This channel is one of the highlights of this entire platform. Funny, informative and genuinely entertaining and interesting. I love learning stuff, especially if it’s presented in a unique way.
This is probably the best YT channel out there. Every single True Facts has around 137% to be the best shit you see that day. Thank you for that Frank!
You forgot the word chance my dude lol
This is actually one of the few times I've watched a full sponsored segment. Not because I'm that interested in learning a new language atm, but because I didn't expect you to know German. Your pronunciation is pretty good!
The return of Dr. Adrian Smith was extremely unexpected.
Also the "but" "butt" switch joke is so good
If crabs could walk forwards they’d be terrifying.
This why the coconut crab is so disturbing
Coconut crabs grow up to 3 feet, can crush human bone, they walk forward and climb trees. They also drop down from trees up to 15 feet without being hurt.
One of the creepiest creatures on the planet.
@@Vincent_Beersthey also ate Amelia Earhart
They can, can’t they? They're just slow.
I could listen to this guy all day, what a voice!
One of the few channels out here that puts actual citations in the end credits. Ze is the shiznit.
I remember after the slime mold video, Zefrank got a message from one of the scientists he referenced saying his papers got a sudden increase in downloads. Citations help everyone
When Christmas Island was first discovered there was no mention of the millions of crabs.
But there were 2 native rat species, found nowhere else.
Sadly they became extinct.
Around 2 decades later people started to write about the large numbers of red land crabs.
That explains quite a lot, actually.
RIP
That's a turnabout from the usual situation, where rats wipe out native species
These two extinct Rat Species if you are curious are the Maclears Rat and the Bulldog Rat
Apparently it was a disease brought by introduced black rats what did the native rats in.
There are several islands named Christmas Island. They should number them by latitude and longitude, or by date of discovery.
The transition from the first crab to hermit crabs was brilliant
This may be the most you have struggled to deliver educational information without laughing at all, and I love it!
The sound effect of shaking crab bebes off in the water!!! Priceless

I just had the epiphany that ZeFrank is basically TheFrank just pronounced in German 😭
Ist mir immer wieder eine Freude, deine Videos zu schauen ❤
I think it goes even deeper than that! I believe his parents are German, as in born in Germany. Also, his first name is Hosea (Hoe- zee-ah) and the Franks settled in Germany in the 2nd/3rd century. Also last name is Frank. I think it is a clever name with several layers. Or maybe he’s not at Taylor Swift-levels of riddles and it’s just a funny name
Ze rhymes with “play” and is short for Hosea. His dad is the award winning Joachim Frank. Yes, they’re German-American. Ze was born in the US, but his father was born in Germany. I think his mother was also born in Germany, but I can’t confirm that as a fact.
