    That touchpad pickup selector is crazy cool, and while it takes a little getting used to, it somehow seems appropriate for a guitar like this!

      Pretty cool, definitely different! I wonder how the touchpad would react when your sweating or with the side of your finger or hand, like just swiping across it quickly?

    • @AbhilashKrishnamurthy
      @AbhilashKrishnamurthy 3 года назад +3

      The touchpad is definitely cool, but it feels like the novelty will dwindle. Bigger worry for me is that if it goes bad, it's unrealistic to be DIY replaced, a regular physical switch can be taken out in 10 minutes for not a lot of cash in comparison.

      That's just a plywood top btw.
      I find this idea very interesting seen from the whole tone wood debate.
      It's a beautiful made instrument, but when we put that aside. It's basically shows you don't need fancy woods to get a good sound.

    The selector is a blend control! YES! I’ve wanted to see one of these for so long- changing the balance on Gibsons etc is so hard when you have to fiddle with individual volume knobs. This is so cool.

    • @benbrucato77
      @benbrucato77 Год назад

      You could wire both pickups with a single dual gang 500k pot for a blend by wiring one set of the poles in reverse. The other volume would be a master volume by having the output of the blend going to one pole on the other volume pot.

    I'm on board for everything but the switch. That's going to fail eventually, and replacing it won't be fun. For something like a guitar you need a mechanical switch that can be easily replaced, preferably with off-the-shelf parts.

    This guitar has really captured my attention. I’m a total traditionalist with gear and aesthetics, and so often when I consider looking into a guitar with modern features I can’t stand the look. This guitar has such an interesting look. A perfect blend of classic and modern aesthetic. I even love the blue which I don’t often care for. Nice demo, I look forward to seeing future videos with different pu’s if you’re so inclined.

    LOVE the selector switch/touch pad. What a great idea. Some people have the opinion of keeping a guitar as 'analogue' and simple as possible. But this is a perfect way to utilise some 'digital' innovation. Just brilliant.

    Put one permanently in just at the end of the neck. Tiny and out of the way. Would be great.

    Story- In 2017 a guy bought a Gibson SG Ltd. Ed. with Gibson hardshell case. Gorgeous, flawless perfect set up. Took it home put it in the closet and did not move. In 2021 it went from the closet to a very out of the way small town antique dealer with an online store as well. ... $800 USD with free shipping.
    I just got it a few hours ago.
    For years I wanted an SG. But $.
    I always imagined it to being vintage sunburst with Grover tuners like the first ever SG Ltd. Ed. in 74 that feature the first introduced T-top HB's
    Would you believe ...this has to be a repro of that guitar. I plugged it in to my Plexi. Sure enough I got the classic T-top sound. Medium gain and all mids with just a sweet little peak at around 1k. Lows and highs are there but just .. you get ample highs but from the distortion when you push a your Plexi. It makes the sound that gave the first Metal music it's voice. In 75 all Gibson's had the T-tops.
    One last thing. There is a god :-)

Relish did it. Now, they only need to figure out how to make this a bit more affordable and they could shovel a good portion of the high-end spectrum. Congratulations!

    People are gonna be complaining about access to parts/repair, but for me, personally, I think its a necessary step towards the next big evolution of the guitar. I can't wait til these modular types of guitar become standard and cheap. I always dreamt of a good guitar you can just switch or upgrade parts very easily, like a pc. Or a guitar with built in effects and digital interface.
    It may be heresy for some but that's technology, it abhors stagnancy. But its still too early to invest in these types of guitars for now. I'll wait for like a decade before I can afford it lol

    I recently purchased a Mary with the touch selector strip. I had buyers remorse at first wondering if the pickup swap would be a fad. But I see now that Relish introduced a new "trinity" guitar at a better price point and also is now selling the pickup mounting hardware (Pickup side) so you can mount your own pickups over time. All points to longevity of the design and company. This alleviated most concerns except the ability to get replacement sensor boards in case it fails. I noticed Darrell did not include a Relish guitar in his 10 favorites video. Hoping simply due to the plethora he has at hand. Time will tell if this was a super expensive impulse buy or if it will be in my staple for many years to come. Thoughts?

    if this guitar is the guitar of the future, I can't imagine how many hundreds of pickups a guitarist will have in the future.

      Probably max out around 6 to 8.

      Will you own more pickups or stomp boxes?

      If this had any future it would have been made much earlier. Adding generic plugging frames to pick-ups is not exactly rocket science.

    I like the touchpad, and the brushed finish on the body edge is killer! I've yet to hear a piezo that genuinely sounds like a "real" acoustic, but I have a couple guitars with piezos, and I like the tone nonetheless. This one's a real beauty! Of course, I'd have to sell my house to get one, but it looks and sounds great.

    I'd be willing to pay a lot of money just for the quick swapping feature. It should be standard on more higher end guitars.

    Love the guitar. For the $6000 price tag, it offers something distinctly different from it's competition.

    Curious about the weight & color options. Is the neck the only wood in the design, or is that maple flame on the top ?
    The back plate seems a bit too easy to remove ultimately.
    Would like to learn more about the hardware, etc

    That guitar looks really interesting Darrell, but you didn't mention anything about the neck, was is it made from? or the frets, are they stainless steel? How about the headstock and the price too.

    I really like what looks like some type of micro binding on the headstock. Maybe it was an illusion. Pretty sweet piece.

    Once you get past the price and odd shape, there's a lot to like in this guitar. Great video as always. This could be the only guitar you'd ever need based on versatility alone. But, what would be the fun in that! God bless and rock on 😎🎸👍
