When u learn one instrument, often the skills u learn from that instrument can be transferred to another instrument (still takes practice). I play Oboe which has a very similar finger format to the saxophone (and flute but I dont have one) so I also play the saxophone

Many mention Taeyeon, Hyuna, Sunmi, and even Chungha but it's important to note that all these girls became soloists after leaving their very popular girl groups- they already had a solid fanbase and people knew them already. We also shouldn't ignore the fact many of these girls were or are part of the 'big 3' companies, which clearly gives them an advantage and you guys can't deny that. As for IU, she actually debuted as a soloist and has managed to stay relevant and popular even after being in this industry for more than a decade. We all know western-sounding kpop music is what reigns right now but she has managed to stay on top of the charts for more than a decade with hit songs that range from R&B, ballad, pop rock, jazz, orchestral pop, electro, folk, etc. and has established herself in the industry as a lyricist, composer, and producer, which I think is something that particularly sets her apart from the others since idols usually just sing the songs they're given and most of the time don't take part in the creative process of their albums. I think it's hard enough to become a well-recognized idol but I think it's harder to become a well-respected artist and that's exactly what IU is, an ARTIST. P.S. I didn't include BoA and Lee Hyori because I'm only talking about today's top female soloist. BoA is the acknowledged queen of her generation and that can't be refuted.
