100egp for an 18min ride is too much. rule of thumb is 1egp per minute. of course they're going to double charge tourists but that means this ride is worth 40egp at most.
Sorry for that experience, we are all vulnerable to this situation (including Egyptians), if we did not first make sure you both agree on the deal, and prepare the change money always for this situation and just pay what agreed upon without hassle or being exploited. We in Egypt have a word means "Street people" referring to misbehaved or uneducated persons (even if they can read), not all of them are bad, but many are acting poorly and are frustrated. They try to play clever by taking advantage of another person (mostly polite or stranger) or they take any stupid opportunity as a chance to earn more money. For a TukTuk this was a long trip. You will get a short ride for 15 or maybe even 10 egp. As he showed you the neighborhood 50 egp is acceptable. At first he didn't even want to take money from you at all.
The poor guy said he cant read and and write as he quit the school very early. That's why he asked the man to read 📖. Lucky that he was nice one. By the way, the old man told us everything, now everybody knows where exactly you live lol 😂.

This ride is worth 16 EGP or 0,50€. Avoid tuk tuk in Cairo, they are organized crime group from Mansheya Nasir neighborhood.. Just like airport taxi mafia.
I was there last week.. Agree a price first, be stubborn as well show balls , also hold the correct amount and not try to argue for a change while he holds your money . I had the same issue I didn't give in I turned aggressive and demanded change, he complied in the end.
It's interesting, he said "I let you film me too" when he gave you the higher price when negotiating. Which is true, he is part of the content that is being created so they do deserve an extra tip on top.

But I think the price of 100 pounds is appropriate for such a long distance, the driver was very nice to you and told you that you can keep the money, he also told you that he wanted your number your phone but unfortunately he lost her mobile. he wasn't a scammer, but her problem was that he didn't know how to write or read, so he asked others to find the address

no one does the tourism industry in egypt more damage than these city scammers do. outside of cities people are genuinely more honest. the smaller the village the more generous and honest.

You made a mistake of not carrying change. Always carry change of 10s and 20s. Never give toktoks more than a 20. If I were taking that trip it’d be 15. Also learn the language a little. Atleast the basics

I recommend you not to go,, honestly Egypt isn't that beautiful as u see in social media and others.. And the trip he took in the video doesn't even cost a 15 or 25 Egyptian pound at maximum,, and he just took a 100 pounds from him!! The people are not good at all too,, so my own opinion is that Egypt is not a big deal,, there's alot of beautiful places in the world that you can visit,, like turkey or South Korean, etc..

This ride is worth 16 EGP or 0,50€. Avoid tuk tuk in Cairo, they are organized crime group from Mansheya Nasir neighborhood.. Just like airport taxi mafia.

I was there last week.. Agree a price first, be stubborn as well show balls , also hold the correct amount and not try to argue for a change while he holds your money . I had the same issue I didn't give in I turned aggressive and demanded change, he complied in the end.
It's interesting, he said "I let you film me too" when he gave you the higher price when negotiating. Which is true, he is part of the content that is being created so they do deserve an extra tip on top.

But I think the price of 100 pounds is appropriate for such a long distance, the driver was very nice to you and told you that you can keep the money, he also told you that he wanted your number your phone but unfortunately he lost her mobile. he wasn't a scammer, but her problem was that he didn't know how to write or read, so he asked others to find the address

I want you to watch out fir some of the scammers out there cause they know you don’t speak Arabic they will take advantage of your money so stay safe. And lastly he said you can keep the 100 pounds if it’s ok with you but then since you respectfully denied it he then wanted to keep the full 100 and indeed you did get scammed they shouldn’t charge you over 50 pounds to go at Least a mile worth of a destination
