In 1980 I bought a 73 Chrysler Newport for $300 and used it as a Winter beater. It had a big block 400ci with a 3 speed auto. It would do 60 mph in first gear and would get there in 7 seconds. It would beat just about any production sports/muscle cars produced from 81-83, including brand new Vettes. People couldn’t believe the torque.
@@aarongarcia1101 You always let out before the car ends gaining speed...I fixed that by adjusting the torsion bars lowering the front a couple inches the car stuck to the road and around corners! I still have a 68 Chrysler 300 albeit it has the super powerful 440 TNT
Love the color! That’s the car the band B-52’s sing about. Song called Love Shack, goes “I got me a Chrysler and seats about 20, so bring your juke box money” haha...
in humble opinion of my 45-year professional transmission rebuilding career, that ride has the best transmission ever built. the mighty TF8/727,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Reminds me of my first car. '71 New Yorker. Same engine and probably trans. Thing weighed 5000 lbs dry. Floated down the road. Sat 6 to 8 people if you were cozy. And looking down that hood you swear you could play tennis on it.
We're cruising in style today! This is one of the cleanest cars you've had on this channel, a true survivor. Needs a little electrical love, but it's all easy stuff. Whoever gets this one is gonna love it
You don't see very many of these things on the road anymore. They were driven into the ground and were the darlings of the Demolition Derby, many of the had their big blocks harvested from them . This is a very nice example 😊😊😊.
Newly rebuilt motor, transmission shifts fine, brakes are good, all the lights work and horn; newer tires, no rust issues... Nothing to complain about here! Especially at that price!
For this old 4 door 70 Newport as being a classic for you can not go wrong for being of what she is .For she is lovely and the class is still there for her and you may not see again. The price is right and that is for sure.
My father had the two door back in the 70’s , blue with a white top. Believe it had the 383 . Sometimes I could borrow it to take a date to dinner. Everyone liked the car .
As a kid, I remember scrubbing and scrubbing those white wall tires for my grandfather. He wanted that white stripe to be bright and clean. Looks good on this car
Round up your best 4 buds and hit the road. I wouldn't normally give this one much of a look but she is in great shape. Quite possibly an original milage/drive on Sunday special. YeeHa Nick. Cruisin in style.
I can see this car riding threw Manhattan NY and heads turning or parked on 42nd Street late night people would go crazy looking for a photo opportunity. Beautiful car .
Nick, RUclips is zapping you for copyright when they’re your songs? Hilarious! I used to perform my own songs and got zapped for copyright too, except there was no copyright to begin with! Great looking car, though. I love these Chrysler fuselage cars.
Nick, that's a beautiful Newport! I promise you, it's in better condition now than the day it was driven off the lot. Excellent paint, excellent interior... Excellent price! You guys are best.
They don't make them like this anymore, the imperial and the Newport was waisted in a lot of demo dirby car's, they were a for sure win, they are tanks, and power house's with the 400 and 440 they would drag you around the old demo track, and they are pretty much a tank, but they are a beautiful ride 🔥
In Freeport LI NY you weren't allowed to enter an Imperial in DD. The unibody construction and the weight guaranteed a win if you knew what you were doing
Thumbnails look good, threw me off at first like who is this, but read the description and it's maple motors so all good. Sucks they hit you for your own song!
Looks like it's an original a/c car, but it's been removed. Why do people always remove the a/c when restoring cars? Wouldn't be worth more money with it?
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate it's a 383 with a 2 barrel carb you got 290 hp with a 4 barrel carb you got about 330 hp, an a/c unit not going to sap that much power. I rather be cool in the summer time.
You won't have that car long, it's too nice to sit still. And the issues aren't anything a starter tool set and a little knowledge can't fix. I tried to buy a purple one back in the late '80s, but the lady turned me down.

Best of times ?
Wife’s grandmother sold her’s
I sold it to a marine ! 😊
I love how they barrel down the highway just floor it and will go faster and faster and faster until seems to be floating.

A seven year old car (at the time) for $300? How on earth was it so cheap?

Quite a beauty. It's amazing how some of these "less desirable" cars are in better shape, and a fraction of the cost of more popular models.

Love that car. Pity I live in Australia
383 in 70 had 290 hp with 2bbl and 335 with 4 bbl and high 400s for torque should move out nicely
🍀Gangster 😎✌️
I like it. Different tires and rims please. Back in the day I had a 64 Malibu my buddies had a 64 Imperial the other had a 64 bug

Wow, I kind of dig it, family cruiser for sure!
Seen the needle for the gas gauge stuck above empty@9:54
This could be a great daily driver. Not much to fix, previous owner loved this car.
Good looking car except for the goofy GM steering wheel.
Nice, let's go cruzin.👍😉
Beautiful car at a good price!

That’s a really good song Bro. I find myself singing it throughout the day, lol. Seriously, damn good.

Throw away the white walls and do a 3 inch drop
Did I see a rust hole underneath the driver's door?
NIT CAR IS VERY COOL

That's one of those cars you go to the drive-in with your significant other, too bad Madison knocked theirs down decades ago.
My best friend father had a like that in the 1
