    -----------
In this episode, we delve into the intriguing story of the Loureiro family and their abandoned mansion in a picturesque Portuguese town. This once close-knit family lived a modest yet comfortable life, raising three loving children in the grand estate. But as the years passed, the children never returned to the home, leaving behind a mystery that still lingers today.
Maria, the devoted mother, outlived her husband by a decade, keeping the family's spirit alive within the mansion's walls. But in 2006, she too passed away, leaving behind treasured possessions and a silent testament to the Loureiro legacy. What happened to the children and why did they never return to reclaim their family's estate?
Join us as we explore the forgotten lives of the Loureiro family, and discover the hidden secrets and lost heirlooms that lie within the walls of the abandoned mansion. Experience the grandeur and elegance of the estate that still enchants passersby almost 2 decades later, a tribute to the family's hard work and devotion to their beloved home. Don't miss this captivating tale of mystery and intrigue.

When my great aunt died at age 105 it took us 3 months to clear her house out. A lot of tears and memories. To neglect your loved ones home is to disrespect their memory. We honored her.

My father in law was a widower for several yrs before he passed on. He had moved into a elderly apt. And proceeded to sell and give away his final possessions. Until his final wks he was in a nursing home. His final possessions were his two My Pillows. He was adamant to his 6 kids that they were to make sure they took them with them and not leave them behind when he flew to heaven.

@@BrassyBrunette my pillows are just wonderful. we have used them since 2010 or so. and the sheets are also wonderful. they get softer each washing and are very generous in sizing. you get a nice hang over the bed, like sheets used to be. and long enough to do a good tuck in at the bottom. same for the blankets. the cases are generous in size. and the slippers and the jammies are great, too :) hint: always look for a promo code.

Beautiful and sad. Children these days don't respect or even have interest in their parents or even Grandparents things or memories. Everything they have these days is disposable and replaced in a heartbeat. Makes me so sad. I like that you show respect for things that belonged to people and at least give them recognition when their children haven't even bothered.

Leslie, I think you were born out of your time, you always look so natural in the clothing of another era. This was a beautiful but sad home, gently going through the process of age and decay. As always, you and Danny did an amazing job of showing its treasures to us.🖤🇨🇦

Even through the decay, this home is magnificent. I can't imagine how much more so during the time when it was filled with its occupants. It makes me so happy to see that vandals haven’t destroyed it. I’ll admit, I’m a bit jealous that you and Dani (I apologize if I’m spelling incorrectly) get to experience firsthand. Also, Dani's laugh makes me smile. 💗

Hi Leslie and Danny I have been watching your Documentaries for only a couple of months, I have watched most of yours and I must say that I love your accent Leslie and you both make me laugh. I find your explanations are quite hilarious sometimes I love when you hold conversations with Danny. Thank you so much for the company you bring to me. I live in my parents house it’s just me and my older sister, I can say I have all my moms photos that she took when we were little and my fathers military uniforms that he wore. My sister and I are working on getting the house put in our names this is the only worldly possession that was left to us, my mom just never put the house and property in our names, when she died I was already living here my significant other and I moved out here to take care of my mom and my older brother, who passed away in 2020 and my mom passed away Dec.15,2021 so it’s been hard on me. I miss them very much, I would never just leave their belongings behind. I find a lot of your documentaries real sad, I love your voice so thank you and I will continue to watch you as long as I’m around. From your new friend B.J. Baraboo, WI

Hi Lesley and Danny, what a beautiful home this was. I can understand that in France the inheritance taxes will bankrupt someone, or sometimes there are family fighting going on, that takes precedence over clearing out a home, but I never will understand, why? they don't at least take the family photos and other things that their parents or grandparents held dear to them. Another great find guys, thanks for sharing. Love from N.Y.

The furniture is high quality. In the beginning of their marriage, these ppl would have paid a lot of money to own those quality pieces. That stuff cost a lot in the 1960’s ,1970’s. That’s why I find it so sad to see it being wasted.

It shows the name Maurice Utrillo, who is also a well-known French painter, his mothera paintress, too, and the woman he married in his fifties was also a painter. So you may have found something very interesting. Maurice Utrillo also has a profile on Wikipedia. He died in 1955, so the former inhabitants of this Portuguese house may also have known him.

Beautiful home. The wardrobes and chests that blankets were stored in were lined with cedar wood. Cedar has a sharp smell to it but it was used because cedar wood prevents moths from eating the fabric. In fact, a lot of people call the chests "cedar chests".

You don't realize how important family is and was until u reach a certain age like myself , and I find myself really down some days because I think back at all the family get togethers , all the Grand Parents, uncles and aunts and so on. When your young u don't know the importance of family because your so rapped up in your own life and things are going by very quickly . Don't get me wrong it was always a good time getting together with the family. Now I wish everyday I could have all those times back . Grandpa's and Grandma's were so important to the family existence and the teaching of how to be respectful. The older generation still were tough on values and respect. Now I do not see the closeness or the existence of family values any more . The importance of families today hardly exists , and you here of the children fighting over money and the home and it just is all about money now. It's really sad to see how the family tightness is lacking immensely. I grew up in what I believe were the bast three decades there ever was and that was the 70s, 80s , and 90s , best time in life to live , . I feel for my daughters growing up in this shitty world today.

wow it's been encroached upon all around! sometimes children want nothing to do with all the sad memories of their childhood or relationship with parents

Line your trunks with cedar and it will always smell nice and keep critters away.
