Sadly, the system is not perfect, and it does fail people from time to time. Sometimes those who are guilty as sin get off and sometimes the innocent suffer.

Unfortunately this isn't an isolated incident. There are so many woman in prison for killing their attackers. Either for domestic violence situations, where the women kill their partners. Brittany was sentenced to 20 years, court records show. But the sentence was split for her to serve 18 months in the Jackson County Jail and 18 months on house arrest, followed by probation. Because she will receive credit for the time she spent in jail awaiting trial, Brittany will be released to house arrest in about seven months, according to her attorney.

Lamont said that she would have been out of jail about 7 months (from the time this video was shot), and on probation for 18 1⁄2 years. He also said that if she violated, she would have to go back to prison to serve out that time.

This story is self explainable.. He had a long record, yet he got away with so much. Now this woman has to pay for what i consider self defense.. Sad all the way around. She deserves a second chance, but hopefully she has learned and will grow from this horrific nightmare.. Hope her choices in life, well be better and not fall back to her old lifestyle.

You need to go view other articles about this case. There is alot more to this case that has been left out. She is on camera buying cigarettes and riding around hanging out with Todd after the alleged rape. She even has her phone on her and never called police .. She called her mom to ask for money for her and Todd after he supposedly raped her, she tells her mom that Todd tried to kill her but insist that her mom not call the police and instead to just send them some money and a ride to go get cigs. Then after the murder they originally tell cops that the brother shot Todd and then later changes the story to she shot Todd. Something is way off about the motive for killing Todd.

You yourself could find the more indepth video on the matter. Why not try to inform yourself more before calling someone a liar. Here in South Africa, if you shoot an intruder, YOU, the victim, are being charged with murder. Justice system is failing us.
She should have never been anywhere alone with this guy. It just creates an explosive situation and that's what happens.
She probably knew him, but did not know about him and his past, especially his wife that was repeatedly raped.

I see this situation as sad and heartbreaking from all sides. This man accused of rape and assault being gunned down by the victims brother. The victim/murder being sent to prison. The brother having charges dropped. I would hate to be the judge or jury in this situation. Very sad.

It blows me away and angers me when this happens. Men don't know the feeling of having to be alert at all times like a woman does, even just going to the store we women have to scan the parking lot for potential trouble. Men are bigger and much stronger and can easily over power us, pretty much the only thing we have to protect ourselves is a gun or a knife.That girl should not be in jail period! I don't agree with what he did to her but there again, she was wrong for the way she handled her business. Should've went to the police instead of taking matters into her own hands. Bravo for her taking him out though. Probably saved a lot of women from the same torment.

Punishment for killing your rapist. I honestly don’t even have the words right now to describe how fucked that is. Our justice system does many great things to try to keep us safe but there are still so many ridiculous things as well.

The arson was probably a direct result of the unresolved trauma. This woman is gonna need help when she is released or she's gonna end up serving the full sentence. I hope she can get the help she deserves, because it's out there waiting for her!
