The Maghi, Maghe Sakranti, or Makar Sankranti which falls mid-January, is one of the biggest festival being observed by Tharu Indigenous communities as a new year in Nepal.
Tharu indigenous communities observe this festival not merely as a New Year festival alone but they also celebrate this day commemorating the day of getting freedom.
Mythical Song "Maghauta" (Tharu Folk Song) is sung and danced in Tharu Community. Where villagers do dance in Barghariya's House As Well As Villagers House (Who is the leader of a village elected by villagers.) The goal of Maghauta Song is to entertain, forgive each other, reconcile their relationship, Enjoy, Celebrat New Year etc.
I composed this song by the help of forefathers those who have an aptitude for Tharu Culture. I, personally, am very thankful for their tremendous help to write and compose this song. --- By Raj Kusmy
