I have PM experience but not involved in all process groups. All the times when I take up a project I involve in planning phase and in few cases I am already out to different project during closing phase. Is that okay to submit an application where I cannot really show hours in all process groups?
If I am an engineering graduate but I have 7 years experience as a manager...can I take the PMP test? Do I need to send with application my projects or I need just give them contacts of my company?
Manjupraj - it is not a question of your title, but a question of your responsibilities. If your responsibilities were "just" developing, then you don't have the qualifications. But if they included "leading and directing" the project then you qualify. Please read the PMP Examination Specifications (Google it) to see what tasks you should be familiar with.
i have a small question..... i am an engineering graduate and i dont have any project management experience... does this mean that i am not eligible to take up the PMP test....
Mr.Fichtner iam a civil Eng. and iam studying a MEM (only have the final capstone to finish )|& i have a 5 month experience in the construction ) so can i take it . (note that it will be a peace of cake for me ).
Francisco... this is a very difficult question to answer because every student is different. So I cannot say why *You* in particular do not seem to improve. It may be the sample questions, it may be the books that you are reading, or it may even be that you only think that you understood the concepts, but the questions show you that you have not. (It's hard to accept the last one, but you must consider it.) So the best approach for you may be to try another set of simulated exams. There are many free ones online, so give those a try and see if you find similar or better results there.
Tatiana, It's not a question of your job title, but a question of the amount of hands-one project management experience that you have. On your application you will have to list every project that you have worked on, the type of work you have been in charge of and the number of hours worked. Download the PMP handbook from the PMI.org website and look on page on page 8 where you can see the eligibility requirements.
It is difficult to say if your are eligible or not. The question isn't what type of work ("Networking and Implementation") you have done, but what your responsibilities were during these 6 years. PMI writes: "The PMP recognizes the competence of an individual to perform in the role of a PM, specifically experience in leading and directing projects." So you must look at your detailed responsibilities and see if they match. So I recommend the following to you. (see next post of mine...)
#1: Download and read the PMP Handbook from the PMI.org website. Here you can read the eligibility requirements. #2 Download and read the PMP exam specifications from the PMI.org website. This document explains what the skills and knowledge are that will be tested on the exam. Your experience as a PM should match this. Now compare this to your experience and if you can honestly see a match between these 3 then you are elibible.
You know... I don't think so. You have to take a class (online or in-classroom) for it to qualify for contact hours. So it will be very difficult to find a free PMP prep class that qualifies. So I frankly don't know.

You need to be able to show at least some hours of experience in all process groups. PMI does not say how many.
