I haven't done the promised more-in-depth tests yet. The gates for 35mm & 120 are fine if the thing is lying flat but I'm not crazy about the press-fit. Now that I have my macro bellows set up, I'll be able to do a proper test. I wasn't aware of the essential film holder until your comment so I don't have an opinion on it yet. It seems really well designed. I may splurge and get one when I can afford more gear. I think you helped me more than the other way around. Thanks!
@@52cameras54 Funnily enough I took a chance and ordered the pikl-latr, mainly because I spoke to the man behind chroma camera who as it happnes helped design the pixl-latr. Like you I think the push fit could be a little better, for me its the push fit of the defuser, you have to push it exactly right to get it to fit. However it holds the film flat and does 35mm-4x5! It is a little bit of a faff to get set up but not really anymore than using the Lomo holder I have and that only does 120. For the price I cant really see what the essential holder could do much better, other than speed, but it costs twice as much!
Im trying to decide between this and the essential film holder. The pixl-latr looks like its set up for more 4x5 to me

Not a very impressive unboxing. Pretty good backdrop for video, just a few chickens missing.
