    Hi Jack - Welcome to the #VinylCommunity. Great first video and I see that you've been busy in last few weeks. I think you made the correct decision about giving Keith Moon a swerve for your Dinner party. I think your 4 guests and you will have a great evening with lots of interesting conversation. I'm also a big fan of the Who, the Stones and the Beatles. You were speaking about Spin in Aberdeen, unfortunately James Sandison the heart and soul behind the Tunnels, Cafe Drummond AND Spin passed away on 26th January. He will be sadly missed. That's a good story about the Ride gatefold sleeve.- Cheers Bill

      Many thanks for your kind words, Bill. I’ve been watching videos for years, but am glad I finally took the plunge and posted. It’s been great fun so far! I think Keith Moon would be a great guest at someone else’s party. Expect the unexpected!!! Sad to hear that James passed away. I don’t know Aberdeen overly well and normally come through for some shopping or if the kids want to go to Codonas. I usually get an hour or so to nip up to spin! I keep meaning to get through for a gig at the Tunnels, it’s a pity not so many artists come up to the north east. My heart sank when I opened up the Ride album... though the girl had at least cut the “poster”out neatly! Cheers, Jack

    Hi there. What a great start for your channel. My first video was the vinyl tag last year, and I'm really enjoying being part of the VC. You showed some cracking albums, I love Half Man Half Biscuit. The Ruts album is a classic. John Peel as a dinner guest is a fantastic choice. I grew up listening to his radio shows, and I always pick up Peel Session EPs if I see them. And then you finished with John Prine and Gram Parsons. Welcome to the VC, cheers Mike

HMHB not forgetting the Trumpton Riots of course! 😂 you did well because it’s quite hard to describe HMHB unless you’ve heard them. Yes I can see lots of in depth discussion at your dinner party, still think Keith Moon should come! 😁 I surprised more folks haven’t said Tom Verlaine, good call. I've been a VC watcher only for a few years, been thinking about creating a channel of my own for a while...but as half my record collection is with me here in Mexico and the other half in Scotland, I'm gonna wait until I finally get them united before taking the plunge! Great video, would never have guessed it was a debut performance. That Vertigo Annual looks interesting, never knew it existed, will have to keep an eye out for one. Likewise with the Moby Grape. Listen to Bridget St John and John Martyn a lot so will subscribe as I am sure you will have plenty of interesting stuff to show.

      Thanks Martin! The Vertigo Annual is great. All the Vertigo releases on there, except Rod Stewart, are pretty expensive to pick up, so it’s a good record to explore these bands without having to sell a kidney for record funds 😂

If you're wanting to check them out on RUclips these are a couple of good ones: For What Is Chatteris..., We Built This Village On a Trad Arr Tune, With Goth on Our Side, or if you're feeling bold try The Light at the End of the Tunnel (Is the Light of an Oncoming Train). It's all good!

    Welcome to the VC Jack - hope you enjoy it on here. Great start with John Martyn - love his early work - he did get a bit too smooth for me later. So envious of the Vertigo Annual. I love my 70s label samplers - in fact I did a couple of videos on my collection a while back, but I do not have that one. Snap on the Coral - need to go back through their catalogue. Good choice on not inviting Van Morrison to your party, miserable old b*gger that he is 😁. Good choice with John Peel, but for me it would have been Alan Freeman and / or Bob Harris. Don't know that Tom Verlaine album - sounds up my street. Prefer early Funkadelic to Parliament - tend to prefer my funk with a bit more rock, but this is a genre that's increasingly growing on me. Bridge Over Troubled Water is a total classic. Never heard of Mantra - will keep an eye out for them, though as they're not even mentioned in any of the massive encyclopedias I have I don't think I'll have much luck.
    Bridget St John is really good - saw her supporting Michael Chapman and she was excellent. Nice to see the Grape. And nice finish with Gram parsons. All the very best... Pete

      @TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words Pete. I know what you mean about John Martyn's later albums. I've got Piece by Piece which is very overproduced. I tried listening to it a few times hoping that the songs will shine through but its too smooth. Not sure if you've heard it, but Picnic, the Harvest sampler is really good too. Would love to see Bridget St. John, especially good seeing her alongside Michael Chapman. Cheers, Jack

    That Vertical sampler is something I’ve never seen. At first glance I thought the Gram Allan was a Big Star 7”. I agree that the answer to the one country question has to be between the US and England. I have seen people pick Canada, France and Germany. I would argue that Los Angeles has produced more than those countries. I laughed when you said Leonard Cohen would help clean up. Out of all of the SF 60’s I think the Moby Grape debut may be the best.
    This is a great first video. I think your vinyl tag is almost as good as mine.
