Bird was the best rookie ever. Magic landed on a loaded team. Bird took a team with the second worst record in the NBA to the best record in its conference and the conference finals. With the exact same players (except for himself). That’s an epic turnaround that no one’s ever matched, rookie or veteran.

it's mentioned multiple times so it got me thinking, I've never understood people questioning the physicality of european players when they're playing in pro leagues against grown men, usually guys that went to the nba and failed, european talents that never really made it in the states, or old/injured nba guys that can't do it at that level anymore, the young european prospects are playing against these kind of guys whereas american prospects are playing in college mostly against dudes that are the same age, less strong and are gonna work 9-5 jobs later on, xenophobia at its finest
