    If you were to make the case so the holes line up with the CR-10S mounting holes, you could remove the stop switch altogether and mount the case in that spot. That's what I did with mine, only one hole lines up and I use a zip tie on the other end. I am considering printing a custom case to address this, but I wanted to share just in case the manufacturer might consider such a change as well. One might even consider making the base of the case with a sliding/adjustable mount. This could allow for different mounting options.

    I have a suggestion as a new user, to increase consistence across multiple installs.
    Since we know where we would like the probe in reference to the nozzle (2mm, in your guide)
    You could send an alignment tool to ease the height adjustment of the EZABL and create a very consistent install method.
    The tool would be very simple, a small circular ring with a 2mm base, and an 18mm clearance ID (or 12, in the case of the EZABL mini) Have the lip of the ring be maybe 0.6mm - just enough to keep the probe from slipping out of place - but without interfering with clearance for the bottom nut.
    The instructions can then be changed to have this alignment tool installed on the end of the probe, with both nuts loose. The user would then proceed to lower the nozzle onto the bed until it makes contact, followed by tightening the nuts once the nozzle is touching. This would result in very good consistency of probe to nozzle distance, making for more reliable positive results for end users.

    It's not till 4:54 that you mention that you have to print the mount for the EZABL. That might be something you want to move forward before people start installing the device and then realize they have to print a piece for it first. (This is purely from an excitement standpoint, people may just fire up the video all excited and follow along and then realize they have to go back) :-) At the very least a title card and a link to where to download the STL. I'm sure it's in the guide but some people may only watch the video. Hope that helps!

    If you can, get a JST 2-pin female pigtail and male JST connector (the same type as the endstop connectors, just less pins) and mount the pigtail in the screw terminal. Pull out the pins from the Z endstop connector and put them in the male 2-pin JST connector. No need to cut wires, and reassembling the default endstop connector will be easy.

    I wish you guys would include the offsets for each model in the comments (or at least mention them in the video) so I do not have to go hunting for the settings on your website or in the manual every time I have to re-calibrate my EZABLE. Yes, I know...this is meant to be a supplement, but this video is what many of your customers watch whenever they need to refresh their memory regarding the procedure. Often times the links on your website change. The link to this video does not.

    • @PunakiviAddikti
      @PunakiviAddikti 5 лет назад

      Yes, get the solid bed mounts. You don't need to fine adjust bed height manually anymore. It will be flat enough for the ABL to do its job.

  • @SteinerSE
    @SteinerSE 5 лет назад

    Just got my EZABL direct kit and solid mounts. I've got all the electrical hooked up but I'm feeling a bit uneasy about how to best set up the build plate with the solid mounts. Do you keep the now unused z stop as a physical limit to how low the x-carriage can go? The aluminium plate seems very uneven so if the nozzle rest at one point it will dig into it at another.

    Well, if you move the Z offset when the nozzle is already down, it will continue to move down and crush on the built plate with your latest firmware!! Better to move the Z offset directly after setting Z to zero.

    • @Martin-ks4ly
      @Martin-ks4ly 5 лет назад +1

      Correct- the printer moves while dialing in the z-offset. Auto home-> move down 5 mm, go to adjust z-offset, and do the paper routine right there. Store settings.

    UPDATE: DO NOT USE THE WASHERS INCLUDED WITH SENSOR. WHEN I REMOVED THEM, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY.
    Installing my sensor now... finally... I was also finally assembling my Ender 5 watching your unbox and build and came to that video where you where installing the sensor. I have seen a few others... I noted in this one and the other that you are not using those bulky large locking washers. You are just using the two nuts. Should I remove these washers and redo the leveling? Also, with the unheated, room temp Hotbed I get .00...... numbers for the M48 test. With the bed heated up to 70 deg the numbers jump around from .1.... to now the latest 0.39.... to .48... Is this normal? I am letting it cool down now to see what happens at ambient. I am using the hard mounts as well that you provide and not the springs that came with the unit. UPDATE: back down to 29 deg and M48 reports .008....

    • @TH3DStudio
      @TH3DStudio  4 года назад +1

      Sounds like you may have a grounding issue on the printer that's causing interference. Check our knowledgebase for articles on grounding. There are 2 in there.

    • @richardburguillos3118
      @richardburguillos3118 4 года назад

      TH3D Studio, After watching a few more install videos I found that we do NOT use the included washers. We use ONLY the nuts. I was concerned about how those washers were affecting how level the sensor was as they are designed to be tightened down hard to lock the item or if it was a bolt in place. We cannot do that without breaking the mount. I removed the washers and now I’m confident the sensor is installed aligned with mount and head. The results with the bed cold or hot are now great!! I’d recommend removing those washers from kits sent or at least include a note saying not to use them. I’ve watched a few other videos on RUclips where people are using the washers... hope they figure it out.

    Hey, I just wanted to reach out. I ordered this printer about a month ago and have had a few issues with it. I have got it running good and just wanted to get an idea if you guys will be in charge of future support issues. I am happy with it and think it has great potential. I have made my own firmware for it but wanted to see if you will be releasing an AL-4 specific firmware any time soon. If you would like any feedback on the machine I would be glad to help out. I actually intended to do a review of the printer after I get some time with it. Any info you could give me for the review would be great. Really excited that I didn't buy a fly by night companies machine when I took the chance on it!!! I have created a Thingiverse group as well and have done some modifications you may be interested in.

    I just don't get why both versions of the kit just doesn't use the already present plug for the z-axis, why cut it? (you're just moving the leads from the printer to your box in both versions).
    Also, for the EZConnect version it would be nice with an EU plug option.

      The Direct Wire is a universal kit. EZ-Connect is for the machines with the 3 pin plugs. We're already working on a new revision for 2019 that will do away with the "EZ-Connect" and "Direct Wire" setups. It will have both connections on the board to simplify this for users and our sake for inventory.

    It doesn't actually touch the plate when it homes Z... in the video. Should it?

    • @TH3DStudio

      It is a non-contact Z probe. It should not contact the surface. It reads interruption with the field that is emitted from the sensor tip.

    why is the video flickering?

      There were a few spots that we didn't realize the video stabilization was causing issues. We're getting better camera equipment for the future videos. This was all shot on a Galaxy S9+

    absolutely not clear: the distance between the sensor and the nozzle should be 2 mm on ezbl pro, but in this vide seems for to calibrate it you have to raise the nozzle from the plate 2 mm so the sensor is 4 mm higher then the plate? right? i have to to calibrate at 4mm higher of the plate (i have ezabl pro)? sorry but this guide is very far from to be complete, i have to see tutorial from other youtuber , sorry but not good video from th3d to explain how to really calibrate the probe and till nothing specific for ezabl pro!

      That is because this is for the EZABL, not the EZABL Pro.
      You can use the video here (until we have a pro specific one out) to get an idea but you should be reading the installation guide for the EZABL Pro to install the EZABL Pro. You can download the EZABL Pro specific guide here on our website: www.th3dstudio.com/knowledgebase/installation-guide/
