Joining the blender bros coaching community made a big difference for me even in the first couple of weeks. I became confident enough to start working on a short animated scifi film with a couple other people.
This is my favourite blender channel because It's not just about the software but also about art, motivation and the importance of practice. Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge, and telling it how it is. You inspire me to not give up!
Strong words Ryuu! Thanks for the motivation. I appreciate that and everything you do for us trainees. Without you and Josh i would still have no idea of all those cool addons and the whole hardsurface process. Its a gift for me to be part of this scene and improving my skills every single day. Thanks a lot!
in 3d for a 3 years now, have been trough most of that was said, this is some good advices in this vid! and even when your brake is not a month but four month bco burning out totally, don't give up, it is not impossible to comeback and be even more motivated and disciplined to show even better results. don't blame your self for brakes.
Well this is on my 'Watch over & over list!' You hit a bullseye on a few things I'm going through, have gone through, and discovered on my Blender journey. I've had to come out of the typical. "I'm going to make the Millennium Falcon" mindset and hit the brakes hard to, get familiar with the tools! I'm focusing on experimenting with smaller, simpler projects and I'm finding myself actually learning faster. Thank you Ryuurui & Josh! 👍👍👍👍
I started learning Blender a few months ago. Doing youtube tutorials really is the way to learn fast. The keyboard shortcuts is kind of like learning to play an instrument, you get used to it and after a while it comes naturally.
This will be my soundtrack while making dishes, you, Josh and Quentin Tarantino's podcast are basically 90% of what I listen to. Ahah, have a damn good day Ryu.
Question regarding portfolio work and tutorial pieces. What if you build upon a tutorial piece? For example, the SciFi Cannon. I'm working on animating the cannon with retracting barrels, rotating chambers, and shell ejection. I'm also working on texturing the model in substance painter. Can work based on course designs still be good portfolio content if there is more added to it?
I'd avoid working on models directly from tuts, unless you re specialty is animation/ rigging/ texturing. If an art director see your folio full of tut stuff then they will doubt your ability to create something on your own. Tuts are to learn techniques. So I d replace those in the future.
I'm just an amateur but I'd advise hard surface enthusiast newbies 😁to learn proper topology early on. All my early models that I like need to be redo because all of them are either way too dense or too light. It's a pain redoing them. Also, learn data transfer modifier if you love booleaning curve surface as much as I do. 😆
@@PonteRyuurui Do I need to watch your vdo to understand that my models aren't flat and boxy, therefore, good topology matters? I mean, it's possible I'm "spreading misinformation" from watching actual Blender n Maya vfx artists on Internet that teach and talk about proper topo.
I learned with a lot of Blender Bro's tutorials which challenge me I have to take breaks when I run into issues i.e- missed fingered the wrong key etc. However, during that break I reflect on what Ponte or Josh was teaching. Then I come back with a fresh set of eyes and think to myself you dumb ass how could you have missed that. So breaks are very essential to the learning process. I noticed with Blender and 3D coat I cannot stop practicing like I do with guitar. With guitar I can take a two month break and come back to it with a higher skill then when I left it. Yes I know weird I still to this day do not understand that. But with 3D I cannot do that in the least or I am screwed because I forget key short cuts or functionality which involves a lot more thought process than playing guitar. I have notebooks filled with tips from Josh, Ponte, Goleb, Aidy, and of course Masterxeon1001 because I don't like wasting time looking for videos or having my browser looking like an episode of horders with metric crap tons of bookmarks. Sorry if I offended any other Blender artists out that who make Blender classes your probably in those notebooks also, which are methodically tabbed by topic.
"This is not progression, this is bullshit" 😂. Also, do you think that 2-3 hours a day working on blender is enough to become a professional within a reasonable time? thx

You learned blender for lukw 9 months, doing 14 hour learning days? How is that even possible. Crazy man.
Did I see the ARGO Mole scroll by among the videos aroud 3:47 ?! my mining dream ship!
What is the meaning of Ponte Ryuurui?
You are the best Dear!
I love your voice, very AI (ish)
Hi Ryuu, I love your philosophy around learning Blender. Thanks for the 'Man-Up' talk. Believe me when I say, it helps enormously. Cheers my friend.

HI, Is there the possibility that the courses are taught subtitled in Spanish?
It is the limitation that I have to hire the course
Hi! I am unable to join the discord group. I'm facing some issues.

It's all down to practice. Put a few more miles in and you'll remember all the shortcuts even if you stop modeling for a while. It gets easier.
