As a owner of the CIY x77, i have to say it is great. since the metal plate sits ontop of the case you can really easy gasket mount it with the help of a few layers of double sided tape. and with a set of nice Keycaps sound like a 200-300$ board now. for a little less than 100$.
How is the app? Can you save a lighting setting and use it without the app? Or can you save several lighting profiles? It says its have onboard profile on amazon but gives no detail.
Owned this board for about 1 year. Immediately replaced the switches with Ajazz Kiwi's, put shelf liner under pcb and did the blue tape mod. Definitely my favorite budget board I've modded.
Great review! This keyboard is also available as TKL ISO layout which is what I personally want and it's still called CIY X77 for some reason even though it has 78 switches (because TKL ISO layout has 78 switches calling it "CIY X78" would make a lot more sense). It seems that only modular TKL ISO layout keyboards are this and GMMK TKL ISO and this wins for the switch compatibility alone. The GMMK variant supports only 3 pin switches which requires extra modifications for most switches.
just bought it a week ago, love it much better then my old redragon k552 rgb and the input latency is noticably better. Also the sound of the board is amazing with lubed akko cs radiant reds and tape mod and foam mod.
@@mr_rawa late comment. I've got a CIY keyb and it's held up great since 2021. I've modded it many times and played through lots of games with it and it still runs very good.
The X77 has less static color modes than the Phantom, but there's a software to customize the lighting effects and also to remap the keys for the X77. Not sure if its still on their website (I couldnt find it there), but you can still find it in online forums. So thats a huge plus for the X77.
No issue with 5 pin switches in the Tecware Phantom 87. It's easy to convert 5 pin (flush clip mod) it to 3 pin switches from 5 pins as I have Gateron Yellow KS-9 Yellow Pro 2.0 (5 pin) in mine. The only thing is that the PCB pin holes are smaller due to it being an Otemu one but you can shave (file) one of the pins to fit it.
It's nice to see a second opinion on this board. Rn it's my main, and I'm in the process of putting aquarium foam into the case to dampen it, so the comments about a relatively low amount of hollowness while *not* having any foam really does inspire some modding confidence. Overall it's a pretty nice platform for a beginner build, just my one has a few sockets in weird alignment on Esc and Grave that ended up breaking a pin off a switch, dropping my 111 Boba U4Ts down to 110.
What you said about both these keyboards are absolutely true but I want to add something about the Phantom 87 since I am a phantom 87 user. Both these boards are pretty low profile but the X77 is too low. It will be tough to fit thick foams there. Where as you can fit thick foams in Phantom 87. The real down side of Phantom 87 is the hot swappability. But, I use KTT Matcha switches here. U can mod Phantom with Akko, KTT switches. And KTT switches are great options too. Still, both these boards are not end game. So i'm sure many people won't buy these boards for heavy modding. Except the 3 and 5 pin hot swap option, I will put the Phantom ahead of X77. Not because I own one but because of other advantages this board gives.
My X77 RGBs periodically only work on half the board, the lights still work for the whole thing cause when switching it on they all turn on and flash 🥴 it’s such a weird issue that reoccurs randomly.
Before watching the video I was going to comment if you could review the GAS67 as I have it in my cart but cannot push myself to order it. Therefore, I am glad having heard the ending of the video. Great video as always btw.
Planning on modding mine as soon as KFAs Pink Robins go on sale. But the Red switches I know sound amazing lubed(205g0 105 spring lube.) Their housing is tight so it doesn't need filming. I have them in my modded RK84 and they have zero spring ping.
depending on your country, you should 100% get the mk870 over these. if in Vietnam for example, the mk870 is a lot cheaper than both of the other keyboards(if you were to change out the switches and keycaps for other keycaps)
@@Blanker_Than_You Hah, the video says the exact opposite.. 😄 but other than the complete hot swappability of the other board I’m still very happy with the Tecware :)
@@cyber_softie phantom 87 is a pain to swap switches in. The included puller is bad plus the switches are tight. Took me hours to get 45 switches out when I was swapping for Akko CS Ocean blues.
@UChuIfxqtbihyY3kOGd-3Duw yeah, it is my first board and I do still love it coming from the g910. I would’ve liked the black or silver switches maybe. I got some rose reds to go with my tecware and clipped the stabs, sounds decent but with the 5 pin ciy ooh man
@@iDeker it is important to be satisfied wit the lowly keyboards in this hobby. I picked up a ducky one 2 with black switches and ive settled since. @tzarious Amazon has the X77 for £45 or £50 just depends which colour way you opt for. Failing this you may find it cheaper on AliExpress but the waiting time is way more with this option.

Nice. Did you swap the switches of did you just lube the originals?
Did you try their software to customize the RGB and remap keys? And if so, is it good?

I'm on the Phantom End of the spectrum; have a working TKL and do minimal modding only when I feel like it.

Ciy is just the best company for people who want the custom mrcanical keyboard experience but cant pay as much like a student or a kid
I want to buy the x77 but I have a question. Can I switch the key caps to double shot pbt or do they have to be abs
Wow another banger man I love it, since u know the ciy series, u should try the ciy gas 67, gasket mounted, good stock stabs, 65%, all for 60 bucks

Me personally, I still like the Techware Phantom 87 TKL more because I kinda like the sound of the Phantom Techware 87 TKL more than the CIY...
What's the polling rate?

Buying the phantom 87 and would love to know which color switches to get (for gaming)
Your UK link is the non-ISO one again; they have a UK ISO version on amazon, which makes this very rare
It's the only way I found this brand - trying to find a UK board is hard work!
Hey, how about the Tecware Phantom+ Elite?
would love you see mod this thing and see how good you can make sound do
Can you do a review on the Akko 5075b plus ?
is ciy a good brand? I bought ciy x79 and i am wondering
Is that the techware 87 panthom+ or is it the normal one?
1 second in and I already know there are shameless akko shoutouts lmfao
techware, CIY, akko, OMNIDESK... we both have a lot in common bro....
I hope yo review Gas67 and Feker JJK84T soon!
What is the polling rate of the keyboard?
Uh oh bout to watch the video, even though I just bought a tecware phantom yesterday 😳
whats the best quiet keyboard that i can get for no more then around 100, it can go a lil over, (i can do some simple mods if i need)
CTR, GOOD VID!
Can you review the redragon brahma k586 please? It's an awesome keyboard but i want to know what you think about it?
How do these cheaper board fare with gaming?
the tecware phantom shrouds are now selling for 1 dollar + free shipping.
Good price if you wanna try modding and other fun stuff. Lube and add sound damping and maybe cool caps, and it became really quiet for me.

It is actually pricier in the states, 69(or more) bucks without caps or switches, while the X77 is 49 without sales.
Man please bring the the CIY GAS67, BTW great video as aways

Pls do a reveiw on rk87g sink, thx

please review the ciy gas 67
