Greetings from England I bought this kit many year's ago manufactured by revell I recall it was a pain to build and the fit was not the best to build. So good luck with the challenge you have accepted to complete.

A much needed tutorial on this troublesome kit, Sean. I've seen modellers give up or shelve it for getting too far ahead before finding the problems to correct.
I will wait for a new tool kit if it ever happens. Picked my fights with several challenging kits the last two years partly to win the fight as it always gives a higher sense of pride/achievement. Watching this video while I tape up a 1/32 Trumpeter Su-27UB. Better than expected. To the right of me a 1/24 Trumpeter Zero project.
So far, the fight is almost over. Very proud of myself.

@ Well, it makes it just entertaining and informative if the kit is challenging. Everyone can build a Tamiya F14 (not talking about all the different surfaces and different kinds of distress.). E.g. your Space Shuttle and Testor SR-71 were great builds bespite being terrible kits.

My mother, a RCAF Flight Nurse, worked at the National Defense Medical Center in Ottawa in the early part of the sixties. This was a cutting edge hospital and it got the worst cases. My mother recalled having to care for really horrifically burnt and smashed young pilots who ended up flying in a 'widow maker'. She felt it was so sad as they were all so full of life and potential otherwise. She passed Halloween 2023. The interment will happen this coming spring.
I married into a RCAF family. My father-in-law, still here, did 34 years in the RCAF and almost all of it as a tech (weapons, radar, electronics, you name it - also a Shriner and rode as a cowboy at the King Ranch and once drove in the Indianapolis 500) - a hard worker (not an officer *lol*). My wife's elder brother went to RMC (management engineering) and worked helping keep our fleets of planes in good shape. He helped refit the Australian F-18s we bought. Because he was so good, he got called by the Deputy Minister of Defense personally to be the technical lead on the P-8A Poseidon (surveillance plane) for the RCAF (in progress). His wife is in military procurements and is one of the few people that can sign off contracts with other countries.
With mom, my father-in-law, my brother-in-law, me (militia reserves), my wife's uncle did 20 in the Army and my dad's father (16th British Highland Light Infantry - fought across the low countries, the pursuit to the Rhine, and the Occupation, losing most of the boys that he enlisted with)... all together, I counted 80 years of service in the forces and maybe 30 of time in DND itself as civilian employees.
I'm proud of the service my family - on both sides - has put in and still are.

Good work. It's a nice kit with a little work. I took first at the IPMS Nationals in 1:32 jets in 2015 with the same boxing. Be VERY careful with the canopy as it is incredibly thin and easy to snap (I had to buy a replacement). It builds up nicely.

I tried one Italeri kit of a 1/35 scale 2.5 ton truck many years ago, and it was so bad I gave up on it. It's the only kit I ever threw in the towel on. I'm kind of an Italeri fan because I like a kit that's a bit of a challenge. This kit was originally tooled in 2013 so it's pretty modern and I rather like the Starfighter myself. Looks like a rewarding build.

Hi and Happy New Year to you and your family. I can't say I have been impressed by any Italeri kit I have made in the past, so I've not made many. The precision and detail level is not the same standard as the top kit manufacturers. Also this looks like it was first released in the early 2000's which puts it in the modern era of kits, so also not good. This said a modeler of your standard will be able to pull it out the bag. I think if you continue to show us what you do to raise the standard of the model, it will make for very useful videos.
