    Thanks for the memories. I was a skinny little white boy from Australia who grew up with Māori stepdad in Auckland in the seventies. He had lots of family in Otara . Spent a fare bit of thin there at his mums and with my cousins. Lots of fond memories. Chur from Queensland Australia. 🤙

    I see this as an eye opener to reverse cycles. I was born & raised in Otara, my whole life. I moved to Australia at the age of 21.
    I seen so much violence and crime growing up in otara and thought that was a normal way of living. I knew in my heart it was bad, but I was exposed to it. When I’m in front of a healthy way of living, like no violence or crime, I use to not know how to act because I wasn’t use to love and healthy living. When I hear these people’s stories it makes me want to do better and I have the opportunity to, so I’m going to take advantage of it . Thank you for this video. On to better things

    This is reality for most South aucklanders Otara is no different, I've lived in Auckland most of my life but seeing this is truly an eye opener, I don't see what most 'outsiders' see but when it's shown like this it really brings it home of how most Poly families live yet they remain proud ... alot of talent has come out of these places yet we can see how desolate these places are yet they triumph & it's due to the people's determination & pure love for where they come from & for that I'm sad but immensely proud of the people❤❤❤

      @kupid88 9 месяцев назад +26

      @@evoids ... to make comparisons when in different countries makes your opinion on my comment is rather 'insensitive', I'm speaking 4 my country & what I see, this is not a 'popularity contest' to see "who has the biggest bragging rights" or who's country is the "most hardened" or who 'gets the most brownie points' ... I was not judging but merely making a comment BCOZ I LIVE HERE & this is my/our reality NOT YOURS so please don't make assumptions on 'how can this be eye opener' when you don't have any idea about my/our country THANK YOU (Not dissing/hating just my opinion ok)🙏🙏

Getting jumped for my 20 cents for street fighter seeing kids walkto school in bare feet and pissing down with rain was all new to me we didn't stay long we moved back to the deep south but far out I always imagined what my life would've of been if we stayed on in Otara coz even in the South I was no angel shot for the watch bro big solid shout to you for your content God Bless you brother

      I'm so glad the Otara scorpions guy mentioned the subject of rubbish ! 🗑 sick of certain people who litter! I'm from Wellington and the only people who litter are the filthy lazy refugees which I witnessed one time 4 or 5 years ago! I notice in Auckland many not all ethnic people litter and leave filthy messes after hiring event venues! I use to inspect locations all over Auckland when I moved here 1.5 yrs ago. I was horrified! I'm from Wellington and affluent, and very nice middle class suburbs was all I knew. And same with Auckland until I got my job which required me to drive all over the place! I only drove thru otara at times when I was going to inspect in ormiston. Went exploring in south Auckland and West and I hated it 😂 Was like so traumatizing to see slums. Another world I didn't know existed in Auckland! I knew about otara cos of once were warriors film but that was it! I moved to devonport when I came to Auckland. I've ever known the lovely part of Auckland Inner city and takapuna devonport. Your videos fascinate me 😮 I look forward to watching more. Your stories their stories so interesting!!! Good on yahs! 👍 👌

    Otara, Manurewa, Mangere parts of West Auckland, Otahuhu all very similar. Lots of good people live in these areas and lots of hoha people as well. At the end of the day, as someone who grew up in South Auckland, I feel safer walking those streets than anywhere else. Otara market was the bomb growing up and visiting on Saturdays.
    South Auckland has a problem with takeaway shops, loan shark places, alcohol all being within walking distance of each other. Go to a more aflluent area of Auckland, and you will not see a loan shark place, or takeaway shops. I wonder why that is?

    Taught scuba diving in Otara. A lot of the boys came on the course. Even the bro Shannon aka toots from once were warriors, Good times. My dad grew up in Otara, Preston road. I grew up on Caspar Rd, we would cut through to Otara under the motorway. We considered ourselves sort of Otarians lol. Wander if the brother Wiki is still on Israel?

    I'm Aussie raised with the fobs from the 90s, while in government housing. Them brothers would rip someone's head off, protecting me. So many times got me outta the shit. So many stories. for some reason I felt at home with Maori people, more then I did my own Aussies.
