Was at the Hollywood Bowl. As Scott would say… iconic! I think it was their first show after the pandemic??? But I love the video. It is sassy and sexy with one Mitch slap and Kevin beatboxing. Recommend you see it! It’s a WOW!
FYI -- you can't really tell from the video, but they don't have a full orchestra. IT's eight or nine cellos, who played "Kevin's Fifth" in his solo section and added some backup on other songs.
I'm always astounded at hearing Kirstin singing in this performance. Not only was it their first concert coming out of the pandemic, but as @Stormy05 said, Kirstin had her baby girl almost exactly 3 months prior to the performance. They all sounded great, but that is amazing! They didn't have a full orchestra with them here, it was more of a cello group to backup Kevin. That is one of the differences between this version and the official MV version, Kevin beatboxes by himself in the official version, and Mitch's bridge is more of a solo than it came out here. The official version is definitely worth a listen, even if you don't want to react to it.
I agree with some of the other comments, it’s worth your time to watch the official mv for this one. I’ve seen PTX live 2x and Kirstie’s voice is PHENOMENAL. I mean, they all are but Kirstie really impressed me when I saw them live.
Kevin plays Cello in the video version also. Going to see them Sept 14th in Washington State, Can hardly wait, hope they do this song. Last time In saw them in 2018 they opened with the song Sing. It is a great opener.
There are some good-quality fan-recorded live videos from this and other PTX performances since 2021. Phone video and sound has gotten so much better than most of the older concert videos. But this and their 2020 and 2021 Christmas show were also recorded professionally for a pay-per-view live stream, and fans captured a lot of video from those streams, including this. I've been really enjoying following this year's PTX world tour through fan videos. And for reactors, the live videos are mostly fan-posted and not as subject to blocks.
They were really far into the show. Kristen sounds awesome here. Imagine this she just had her baby about 3 months before this. Everyone of these people are awesome. Its just Amazing what people can do when they put their minds, bodies, and souls into something like this.
Much as I like this version, I still prefer the official video. The orchestra was a bit much and took away some of the big climb into the high notes that Mitch, Scott and Kirstie were doing 3/4 of the way into the song. It also took away some of the power of Kirstie's belting.
This is great, but I prefer the video, because you get to see their facial expressions, and Kevin's cello-boxing. Also, the orchestra really drowns out Mitch's solo, which is awesome.
I usually prefer live as well, but TBH this is one performance where I prefer the video. Scott did a lot ad-libbing of runs and things that overshadowed the other singers here. In the video, the song is far more raw, and beautiful. The changes totallly drowned out Mitch's bridge. And, you could barely hear Matt at all. Video wins this time.
I'll be seeing them in a few hours in Jacksonville! Can't wait!
The official version of Shallow is also excellent. Recommend their cover of Mad World.

Its worth the watch of the official version of this song. Kevin does cello beat boxing at the same time.
The entire Hollywood Bowl concert was fire!!! You should listen to other songs from this performance.

Remember to check out Popspring 2016 live performance...
Yes! 3 originals plus MJ; couldn't get a better combo.
YES!!!

I’m going to see them also in Ridgefield, WA. Can’t wait
PTX is performing tonight in Jacksonville, Florida. I hope they survive Florida in August in an open air venue.
I was there and it was so amazing!!
Notice Kevin was beatboxing while playing the cello!
You really miss Kevin's cello-boxing in the live perfomance.
Just left their concert in Jacksonville. It was great. They were so good. Would see them anytime.
Check out Pop Spring 2016. Live performances. Also Kirstin sings the song “Water” which she wrote.
