Other bands that do history songs include: Iron Maiden, Iced Earth (Glorious Burden album), Cage, Death Dealer, and The Three Tremors all do songs based on history, but not exclusively. There's also another band made up of former Sabaton members called Civil War who also do exclusively history based songs.
id also add Cathomic the caviat there however is they do it in Modern Chinese, classical Chinese and Taiwanese, so if you dont know any of those languages translation is needed
Last I knew it's the audiobook is free on Audible, last I knew. Ite's also titled The Last Battle. Love your channel and since you did ask about similar bands covering historical events, I think you guys would like the band Amon Amarth-Berserker at Stamford Bridge. Go with a lyric video. its way to bizarre for a 50s B-Movie...but sometimes...Thank You SOOOOO much for this review! If its not on your list, please have a look on " Cliffs of Gallipoli" Im sure the Aussie watchers will cheer you like hell! ;)
Also, I imagine that making a movie about WW2 time period where an SS officer and a Weirmacht major are actually 'good guys' in the end is a minefield that film companies would rather avoid.
Still not Impossible to make it work i would say, for example making him a resistance spy in the ss from the start is a small change but makes it wqy esier to believe, gangle on the other hand doesnt need to change because he is already great protagonist material and the fact that almost nothing is known aboutthe other german soldiers gives you lot of room for creative and interesting character to fill out the cast, hell you even have a german guy that could work as traitor/villain with the guy that sneaked out just before the attack. I would still try to keep the tone more like the german war movies with a darker apocalyptic tone though.
