    For many years I used Spotify, but since I am into the Apple ecosystem I changed to Apple Music, because it has Dolby Atmos my speakers and headphones ( Sonos Era and Apple AirPods Pro) can do Dolby Atmos. Apple Music sounds so much better than Spotify.
    I also tried Tidal and Qobuz, both are great, but if I wouldn’t use Apple Music I would go for Tidal. The Apple Abo costs in my country (Germany) only about 8 Euros, because I took an Abo for a year.

Plus, manufactures are using spotify connect and tidal connect but you don't really see much support for Deezer unless you're using a higher end streaming device or Roon device.

    Great Video! I have tried Qobuz, Apple Music, Amazon and Spotify. I agree that Qobuz sounded better but wasn't head and shoulders above Spotify on my rig (at least not to my 49 year old ears). I use Spotify exclusively now because of the ease of use and it seems to has better machine learning/A.I. than the others. I have tested them ALL. And on my main system, Qobuz wins. Beats out Tidal. It appears to me, that Tidal equalizes their files or something to accentuate the higher frequencies. I had some audiophile friends over for the last shootout between Tidal and Qobuz. Having said that, I have gone to extreme measures to make the network connection to my main system to be as clean as possible, from power conditioning on the Fiber Optic to Lan converter and all hubs, the best LAN cables I could find, and special grounding system to "wick" out noise.

      An indirect comparison and in my limited experience, Tidal (HiFi) has a little less treble than RUclips Premium or (even less experience with) Amazon Unlimited lossless. That's running through the same iFi DAC. Of course we only have one set of ears each ;-)
      CDs through Sony and Panasonic DACs from ~15 years ago are generally treble boosted compared to Tidal through IFi, though not always. Recordings vary.

    Nah bro Apple music sounds good. Probably your girlfriend have Apple Music with the quality HE-AAC which is lower than ACC. That HE-ACC setting can be found in settings scroll down until you see music tap to music than tap to audio quality then tap to cellular streaming and in there you can found sound quality from HE-ACC all the way to High-Res Lossless.
    Keep in mind that HE-ACC is only found through cellular streaming because the minimum of WiFi streaming is ACC.
    Apple Music sounds better than Spotify

    Hold my beer 🍺....😊
    I've tried a lot of the services. I agree with a lot of what you said. I use tidal because it gives me a combination of sound quality and usability. Qobuz sounds the absolute best, but the app doesn't do a good job of suggesting new music. It's quite terrible. Very lazy engineering on thier part.
    I've used MQA with my node and it really doesn't sound better than HiFi, just different. Dolby Atmos music is neat on my Nvidia shield, but it is based on Dolby digital, not true HD. So it doesn't sound as good as with a streamer. Both a little gimmicky. I'll upgrade back to hIfi plus when Tidal finally implenents FLAC later this year.
    Amazon HD isn't bad. It's lossless, but i think Tidal sounds better. The deal breaker for me is is integration in Android Auto, or lack thereof. (I don't know why Amazon always does weird stuff like that)
    For home i would look into a lossless streamer to get the best quality. I have a node 2i and the Wiim mini. I love Chromecast audio (pretty good sound) on my work desk and Bluetooth on my Sony headphones, but both cannot play full hi-res. For your car, you might want to test hardwire rather than use Bluetooth to test Apple music quality. I am by no means a fanboy (team Pixel here), but I've heard they have gone to lossless, and it's gotten better.
    Deezers ok, Google play music was alright. RUclips music sounds like trash. I just personally never really cared for Spotify.

Unless their's airplanes,and space ships going over my head when listening to music , I can understand the immersiveness. But 2 channel, I might go as far as seven channel enhanced. But I'm not knocking that might not sound good . I'm just exploring the options that is out there. It's all about what you enjoy. What the moment brings you. Music yes is supposed to be enjoyable. It depends on your level or clarity. For some it's the level of neutrality when it comes to music. Happy listening!!!

    • @admiralkaede
      @admiralkaede 5 месяцев назад

      I understand how you feel. I used Pandora as a free music streaming service around 5 years ago, and it did its job well. However, the quality wasn't the best, as the bitrate for free users was half that of RUclips Music and Spotify Music's free tiers. Moreover, the radios didn't offer any real ability to get tracks made specifically for you. Eventually, I left Pandora for SoundCloud when I got into anime music, as Pandora had none. SoundCloud had good features like unlimited skips and wasn't bad on the ads. The only drawback was that its quality often sounded FAR lower because there was a ton of user-submitted stuff. But I'm sure the popular stuff was fine in quality. They offered good bitrates for a free tier too.
      Then, I got into Spotify. It has a decent amount of ads and limited skips, but it sounds pretty good and has a vast collection of songs. However, I swapped to RUclips Music as I wanted RUclips Premium, so for once, I had a premium music service. It has been good and sounds about the same to me as Spotify did for the most part. I never tried iHeart Radio, but I've heard good things about them. I never used Apple Music as I don't own any Apple products and have no real reason to buy an Apple product made for a phone I don't have. I know you can get it on Android, but at that point, it's just a worse version, so why would I?
      In summary, I don't really recommend Pandora. The song quality on the free tier and even on the paid tier is a joke compared to all other streaming services. I also know Deezer has a free tier, but I've never used it. The ONLY free service that I can find that uses 64-bitrate is Pandora, and that's HALF of what all the others use. So, its quality tends to just be worse. Lastly, I have used Amazon Music that comes with Prime. It sounds fine, but the 2 million songs collection is very limited. The only plus is that there are no ads.

  • @BobGeogeo
    @BobGeogeo Год назад

    Thanks, good overview. I'm with you on Tidal for its good interface and catalog depth along with the sound quality. The HiFi package works for me as a 2 channel guy. Mostly I listen to classic jazz, rock and some classical so the new release lag is not a big deal. My other 2 or 3 cents:
    Amazon Unlimited is lossless but I couldn't make peace with the app.
    RUclips Music Premium gives a higher (256kbps) bit rate than plain YT. It's pretty good for 256, but is lacking detail and speed compared to lossless or CDs. Duke Ellington's Jazz Party is a good one to show this in the first track. YT Music Premium is part of the very useful ad free YT video package. Catalog depth is sometimes better or worse compared to Apple. With remote friends we always ask "Do you have...?" Eagles' Hotel California on YT Music includes only 3 of 9 songs.
    Side question: Do you find different Bluetooth protocols matter? It's LDAC for me but that's Android only and not universal. I wonder if Apple is audibly handicapped over Bluetooth by AAC's lower bitrates. Tone balance probably wouldn't be part of this. I use the iFi Zen Blue v2 at home and it's great with LDAC and Tidal.
