Tidal does not pay the artists, they pay the labels who in turn pay the artists. The problem is not with the streaming services, it is with the labels. They own the rights, not the artists.

@@yxmichaelxyyxmichaelxy3074Its also a problem by the streaming services. Im an indie artist. I use spotify and i release on Spotify too. So now spotify sent me an email as user to tell me, its getting more expensive. And they contacted me as an artist telling me, they wont pay me anything anymore, because they will only pay, when you reach a minimum on streams, which i dont hit. So i pay more as User and i also wont get my 5€ a year as an artist for my music🥲

@user-gr2jn6ri2iyou can, but it would vary from user to user. I have only compared between RUclips Music and Tidal, and it's night and day difference, whether it's through my crap earphones or expensive headphones.
RUclips Musics tracks sound like all the songs are compressed together and pushed through a generic mono or stereo output.
On Tidal it feels like every single instrument has its own crisp track and variances in volume. I can easily hear each individual instrument and their placements throughout the songs on Tidal, but through RUclips Music it's all just compressed together.

Harley, you’re incredible on camera. My other note would be to add the “Tidal” logo and/or “Spotify” logo when you’re displaying a shot of either service on screen. You jump back and forth so often, that the viewer can get a touch confused with which service you’re talking about.

    1. you're on a low budget and can't afford paying for a streaming service but don't want to pirate , so you use the free version of spotify.
or 2. the artist you listen to is not popular and their song is only available on spotify for one reason or another.

I've been trying out Tidal with a free trial and I must say, I'm a little underwhelmed. Aside from the lossless playback, Tidal doesn't do anything better than Spotify, and some features I use on Spotify all of the time are missing on Tidal, not to mention some tracks aren't available on Tidal. When Spotify introduces Hi-Fi, I'll definitely be making the switch back.

Totally agree with you. I’m on the free trial right now and I am absolutely and utterly disappointed with Tidal’s sound quality. Lossless audio doesn’t mean anything if you got bad EQ. Without good EQ it doesn’t matter if it’s lossless audio. That’s where Spotify does it right. They may not have Lossless audio (yet). But they know how to compensate by having very good EQ. I’m sticking with Spotify. You should switch back. Spotify sounds great now. Imagine how it will sound when they finally go to Hi-Fi.

Moved to Tidal and loved the new music I was being introduced too (Yes I know I can manually look for songs lol). Tidal UI looks amazing, the only thing I miss from spotify was the ability to control my music from my phone, whether I was playing on my TV , PC etc. But I'll gladly give that up for new music. and "better audio quality" ig.

In the last 6 months since you posted this video, Spotify removed the heart button to add a song as a 'Liked Song' / favorite song. The removal of that function is a big issue for me and at least 1,000 other users in a Spotify forum begging them to bring it back. It seems unlikely. It honestly makes me wonder if the developers at Spotify use their product on a regular basis. Many of us have stopped paying Spotify and are looking for an alternative. Tidal appears to be the leading contender. Migrating data is possible, but may result in a one-time fee if you have too many songs. Anyway, it's a big motivator... assuming Spotify doesn't reverse course; or Tidal doesn't similarly remove that function.

Surround sound and (allegedly) lossless just isn't needed for like pretty much all listeners. And Spotify's popularity makes it so convenient ie services that use the API, or simple stuff like sending a playlist/music to a friend. You go to Tidal. Maybe you don't hear the difference because you interact with alot more quality music so when you go to tidal you expect something more notable, but for me a casual listener when I download a flac file and compare it to my mp3 320kb songs, it just notable and again, you pick up alot more details and I find myself aprecciating even more the music I already have

Flac is less compressed if any at all. Therefore it's more revealing on a better system than those systems found in the aisle-way at Best Buy. With a Tube pre-amp/amp it's a lot more revealing. You could compare it like, "surround sound" in a home theater system opposed to just "stereo" sound. with regards to the sound quality, AAC 256 kbps is already past perceptual transparency so it shouldn't be a problem I think
In that sense, I'd say NOT offering FLAC or other HiFi formats is a clever decision as it saves up on bandwidth as well as storage costs. These savings would then be passed on to the consumers.

Neither. We used to get the music for free or at the very least for almost nothing per track. And we had a file to use.
You know what, the music industry survived 30years even with the piracy.
How? Theyre ripping you off so bad theyre good for 30years even with next to no sales.😂

None of both. A good analog sound system beats both Spotify, Tidal and rest of any other digital bs. Come and prove me wrong that any sound comes out of a computer speakers/headphones, are better than the vinyl sound from my Technics SU-G700M2 amp, combined with Marantz TT-15S1 & Sonus Faber Il stereo speakers. But wait.. Internet generation don't even know what a vinyl is..

The belief that digital audio stairsteps and therefore loses data during conversation from analog to digital is a myth. Both digital and analog audio has its pros and cons, but audio quality essentially stays the same across the board.

High digital files will always be better than a record. With the right setup a good dac its miles away. Im a record collector but the sound is different.

Apple music is cheaper than Spotify premium, have a very large library of music, offer lossless and high res audio quality (just like the rest of the competition except spotify), and pays a little bit more to artists per stream. Spotify raised their price and you still don't even get CD quality audio lmao.

Apple Music and Tidal cost exactly the same both in the individual and family plan, so what do you mean? Tidal does pay slightly more per stream, and both are better in every way to Spotify. Although buying digital and physical albums is even better.
