Hi, Laura. Your jewelry display is actually an Eastern style Hannukah menorah--eight lights plus one on the side. You would fill the little reservoirs with olive oil and add small floating wicks. Similar to an old Roman oil lamp. Cool find.
cool info
Thought so too. I took a guess on that piece!
I have never seen such amazing jewelry at such amazing prices! What size is the smaller rose ring? Love love love it!
Yes I thought so too! I have a similar one coming from my family but it was made in Tunisia.
Too busy. I just started binge watching your videos and the other day I found a Bitossi here in Duluth, Minnesota for$2.99! Crazy! Thank you!! 😍
Dona Rosa of Oaxaca invented the technique for creating the black pottery that would become so famous. she passed away a long time ago but there is still a workshop with her name. At least there was 30+ years ago.
Awesome!! ❤
I'll add for context in case anyone needs it that Doña (ñ like piñata) means "Mrs." or "Lady," so it's her title rather than part of her name.
I believe the ear rings were lost in the jewelry display. They are both beautiful but the two together take from the other.
Laura! Make sure to look up Dona Rosa, San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca. She is a significant potter who invented the burnishing technique that creates the black color and the shiny patina of the black Oaxacan pottery. She died in the early 80s. Her family continues to produce the pottery but your little vintage pitcher could have been made by her hands. The floral appliqué that appears on your pitcher, I do not remember seeing this embellishment on the black pottery that is sold in galleries in Coyotepec currently. Now, it's more popular for the artist to cut holes through the clay or to incise rhythmic linear designs. Perhaps the clay dries faster this way or perhaps it's just a more contemporary look.
I have 3 of her black clay works signed by her statues of local people in a sitting position I just love them found each one at a goodwill in SO CA.
Probably worth a pretty penny more than $5
Came here to say the same thing! love her pieces
I'll add that Doña (ñ like piñata) means "Mrs." or "Lady," so it's her title rather than part of her name.
I have that exact vase that you wanted for $135! I got it at ReclaimIt for $5, it had a hand written sticker on the bottom that said “wedding gift, 1965”.
Your channel is such a comfort place for me ❤
Hi Laura I love how you know quality and not afraid to pay for it. I have been following you for two years now and wait patiently for these videos. When my husband was sick I would take him for treatments and would ask the receptionist to put on a Laura video . Unfortunately my husband passed away last year August. I live in South Africa. Please say so when you come to South Africa again.
Sorry for your loss. Laura is very entertaining & educational.
@@oldstuffbethtx8052 thank you so much
Hi Khonziwe, so sorry for your loss. I am also in SA and my hubby is bedridden with 3 lung conditions. I have roped him into watching Laura and learning with me. It was so awesome for me to see how Laura's videos bring us all together. Laura sometimes we don't know how being authentic and to say as well being cool brings people together. lots of love Mel ( I am on my hubbies account at the moment)
@@richardfairbairn3487 hello Richard. May the Lord strenghten you and bring healing upon your lives. Laura is such a joy bringer. We bless the Lord for her
Earring display , too busy but you could hang necklaces on it or keys. Sorry for being so blunt.
First thought thought…mount on wall and hang necklaces from! Love the piece!❤😍❤
Love the idea for hanging keys, that’s what I thought of when she first picked it up.
I agree, too busy.
Agree
I have to agree and I love your ideas for necklaces or keys.❤
The brass "jewelry stand" is an antique oil burning menorah!! LOL
I love when you pick up colorful items like the yellow box with blue flowers on it! Great brass bird finds! And loved the artwork!
I think the earring display would work with a solid color/more simple pair of earrings, but it is a bit busy with the snake earrings. (Love those earrings though!)
Fabulous haul!! Love all the jewellery. The peacocks(?) are gorgeous, would look stunning with a vase of flowers between them 😍
Now knowing your earring display is a Menorah, I’m not sure I’d use it to display anything. It’s an amazing piece of history. So many great finds for you!❣️
I have the same brass bowl. I brought it back from Germany when I cleaned out my mom's apartment 😊
Love your travel thrifting ❤ FYI Village Antiques Dayton Ohio HUGE BLUE BITOSSI LAMP $250 just seen in Cazy Lamp Lady's latest video at the 6.48 minute mark & thought of you my dear
Those weekday kitchen towels my Mom used to make. Memories.
It was so fun treasure hunting with you and this wonderful group, Laura! I was waiting with bated breath for the big reveal of what you got this day--I'm in love with the Norton painting (reminds me of when I lived in Santa Barbara), and of course those fascinating brass pieces you picked up at Oregon City Antiques. It was an inspiring day for me!!!
love the styling,... for the earrings... great finds!
I love your thrift videos more than any others on u tube. I love it when I see your on! Hugs from NY
Amazing jewellery scores Laura! Wow
Can't wait to see your finds from France and Belgium.
Good morning from berlin it's 3:30 am. Laura hope you come and visit our flea and antique markets in the future ! Great finds today . Christine
The brass piece is a menorah but it is missing the Shames which would have been in the right side to hold the wick that lights the other lights, the wells are for oil and a wick and for the celebration of Chanukah
I love brooches and I’m so surprised they haven’t made a comeback. I buy them and put them on all my coats. I love coats…. All thrifted!
Paint the brass earring holder white; would make a big difference. Love your videos Laura.
Oh Lawd. It is a religious candelabra (oil light) (Menorah). Likely from Israel…a piece of art.
The duck at 12.10 is Hans Bølling and it's about retail for that size here in Denmark🦆
The art deco birds had me thinking about the Sphinx gate in the Neverending Story. I realize there were human elements to it, but it makes me feel similarly. 😅
Love, love California landscapes. I have 2. Large one above my couch and a medium smaller one. They're so colorful.
You did fabulous on the jewelry. Beautiful items with such great prices. I loved that brutalist bird sculpture!! Wow!🤗
Love everything you found! Thank you for sharing. I believe the brass piece you will be using for an earring holder may be a vintage Moroccan Chanukah (Menorah) 🙂
The trolly painting reminded me of San Fran
That was the best trip ever. Your selections were very cool. Congrats!! 🎊🍾🎉
The black square vase Dona Rosa it's meaning for it is Mrs Rosa. That lettering above the N is a Spanish-language symbol for words or names.
That was fun at the very end when you showed again what you would have loved to get. The lady statue would be fantastic outside. Very uplifting. Love watching you here in New Zealand ❤
You should host a thrifting trip on the west coast. Although the thrifting trips across the pond is great not all can afford those.
Stay Tuned…..😉
And some of us already live across the pond and would like to visit….
Love watching your videos! I've been sourcing and reselling on the East Coast for around 14 years... and just started a channel! Excited to watch where your treasure-hunting journeys take you... thanks for sharing with us all! 💙
What is the name of your channel?
@@leeannmettlach2412 Our Beautiful Inheritance 💚 Thanks for asking!
@@ourbeautifulinheritance Thank! I almost guessed that! 😄
Love your channel! You scored on the Begay piece! I love your jewelry finds, especially the vintage turquoise. 🩵
Your excitement over the jewelry is so fun!
That enormous bison bowl was amazing!
This is the weekend for the Svensen Grange fleamarket, still hoping to to see you coming to our fleamarket. Went down to Newport with my husband and visited some of the shops that you visited.Thanls for the tips it helped me plan our two day trip.
Thank you so, so much for filming and show us your shopping adventures. My dream would be to come on one of your trips, but due to distance, it isn’t possible, BUT watching your videos makes me feel part of the fun. I love all of your videos ❤ THANK YOU 🙏
A mirror in the back of the brass would be wonderful
Drooling over the Frances Begay!
Oh man, I’m setting my alarm/calendar for this next first Friday drop! Amazing jewelry! Loving the mix of silver and brass!💛🌟💛
Your earring display, if hung on a wall would make a great necklace display .
Love the Maroccan piece and I LOVE the bird
Amasing gets in that store!
As usual I love the jewelry
Grate haul for shure
Thank you for sharing! X
Really nice finds ❤
The moon and star earrings are so magical!
Hay Laura, I think the 2 BRASS birds are DOLBI CASHIERS
I had a picture from when I was in New Mexico two years ago and there were steps just like you just showed gorgeous gorgeous
I’d use the ornate brass “jewelry “ display for keys . I think you’re right that it’s a little busy for photography of jewelry.
Love your videos so much ! Found you not too long ago and I think I’ve binge watched all of them ! ( recovering from some broken ribs ) I used to sell in a little antique space and You are making me miss it ! Some of the happiest memories hunting for treasures ! Hopefully someday you guys will venture over to the east coast and perhaps go to Brimfield , love to see that . Thank you for the beautiful content . ☺️
What a spectacular jewelry haul!!!!!
I believe the "locket" is a kind of pomander - you can put fragrant perfumed fabric or pad inside, pin it to your coat etc. Very 1920s.
The Butterfly pendant & Egyptian Flower earrings are so Cute!!! ❤ It!!!
Hi Laura, I hope to find you and the group in Brugges tomorrow X Happy picking!
So funny to see her in this vid. I was thinking of "Good Day!" woman recently...idk why...but was thinking I felt a little sad that it's not in your backyard because I do think you relate to it in such an amazing way. I feel like I manifested it, to see it here, like we manifest things we find shopping lol
Wow, Laura --- AWESOME deals on the jewelry --- OMG!!!
On the Brutalist bird, you might look at Ugo Rondinone or someone who copies his work.
Thanks!
Whoa! The jewelry haul is fantastic!!
Love the sun pendant 🌞
I collect vintage kitchen towels and would have bought them all.😊
I had a great fine I got 7 pieces of paul storie pottery for $20.00 and there worth about $300.00 😊
You guys always look like you’re having so much fun! Love these girl trip videos!
The earring display is too busy, in my humble opinion. Pretty, but not quite right for display!
Hey Laura! I was wondering if you could do a video on how to stage and photograph jewelry! I have had some that I need to list but I don’t even know where to start. And it seems really difficult to capture the small intricate details. What do you think?
Great deal on the jewelry.
Terrific jewelry finds! Wow!
Love the jewelry.
Thank you for another great experience! 😊
The brass piece is a little busy w/the earrings …I’d use it to hang necklaces from❤
Random tip for vintage china. My mom was gifted a set of china (12 salad plates and 12 dinner plates) for her wedding. She also got the china she registered for (1965 wedding) and then I also got my paternal grandmother’s china (several sets). I was swimming in “good” china and had no everyday plates. So, I’ve been using the salad and dinner plates as my everyday plates. They’ve been through the dishwasher for 15+ years with no issues.
I liked the brutalist bird Laura. I would have bought it also.
Too busy for earring display. I would use it for a necklace display and hang the necklaces on the little spikes. Hanging on a wall with a neutral background perfect necklace display
I cannot believe you got a sleeping beauty turquoise sterling cuff bracelet for $22.50!!! And the oil painting for $100.00 is gorgeous!!
It was unbelievable! One of my best flea market jewelry hauls ever!
Hello. I believe the earrings you put on the display were too busy, but a solid color pair would look great!
That painting reminds me of New Orleans French Quarter
Great jewelry haul! My opinion on the brass filigree piece for displaying earrings is that it is too busy, but! how about using it to hand necklaces from the bottom of it?
Loved that red dress on you!
the price you paid for that F. Begay Dine/Navajo bear necklace was amazing!!!
If and when silver prices go up, you will be incredibly rich. I love sterling silver.
LOVE all the silver...what is the best way to keep it looking good? Thanks.
👋 hi Laura love all the jewelry ✨️ amazing 👏 finds ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Simply amazing !!!! ❤🦘
Just wondering if the jewelry holder could also be used as a key holder? Also, can the peacocks be used to hold pretty binded books in the center? Just curious....love all your finds!!
great buys Merilyn UK
Absolutely wonderful finds and I love learning about what you find your a wealth of information
Hei Laura, if you are in Bruges Sunday, I hope to see you. My daughter and I have a stalls at thé Hauwerstraat place 120 and 126. Love Sonia
The bird looks very much like artist Mark Chatterly's work
Amazing videos
❤
Wow all that great jewelry 😊 score 🎉🎉
The Old trollies i Portugal used to run the Streets of Copenhagen back in the days 😎
Background of holder is too busy for earrings
Wow! What great finds, Laura! Liked your red dress with white needlework, too. Trips look amazing, and sure they will be. Those particular ER's a little too busy for that brass piece as display, I think. Maybe something more solid like the sterling with gold would work, or beaded red tassel like you were wearing. Cat
Inspiring !!
I believe the pair of unique vases are Carlo (not Carlos) Moretti, a Murano, Italy, glassmaker. I would have purchased those in a heartbeat 😊.
They were $348. A bit spendy i thought😊
love the black onix ring❤❤❤
That was a fun video - thank you. I believe that the ladies name you called Donna, (I think I saw it spelled Dona (with a mark on top) is pronounced DOAN YA, Spanish. Hope that helps
The mark is a tilde.
I see the same comment I made was too late, but I'll leave it up anyway.
I have that exact small white retro lamp.
its been 9 days since my last thrifting hit. i'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms!
