    We as filmmakers stand strong with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and support their action to strike. The topic of this week's video was purely to show how A.I. can be a great assistance to amateur and beginner script writers but it will never replace professionals. We would like to apologies for any misconception about this week's episode and would like to remind everyone that Cinecom is all about filmmaking and creativity.

    Wow, this is very tone deaf and horrid timing during the strike, plus the subtitle in the thumbnail is just… demotivating to people wanting to get into scriptwriting

    A perspective that I find missing from a lot of AI discussion is that yes, it's a tool. But one needs to have the core knowledge of the subject in order to utilize it properly. You can use a calculator all you want, but if you don't understand HOW the math works, then you won't get far. Likewise, I see videos of professional camera people shooting with low tech vs newbie with the best equipment and the professional's clips always look better because they understand lighting, composition, etc. So using ChatGPT to write a script, without the fundamental knowledge of storytelling and craft, won't yield the desired results. Too many people view these tools as a shortcut. It's an ego thing. They don't really care about it, they just want the end result. Is that what's going on here? No. I genuinely think they are trying to find ways it could work. And I think that's worth exploring. But the nuances of that pursuit need to be brought to the surface more and understood.

      You can learn the knowledge from gpt first though. For example I come from writing song lyrics and never wrote a screenplay before. So I asked gpt to teach me how screenplays work and the structure that a college course or screenplay fundamentals course would teach. Then I learned all I needed to then start brainstorming. All it takes is a few sentences to get the ball rolling at that point!

  • @soundbreaker2485
    @soundbreaker2485 Год назад +2

    First off A.I can write what most can write because it’s using references of what most people can write. Also it struggles to write full screenplays only sometimes good outlines that still needs work to perfect the same as the editor rewrites everything the “glorified screenwriters” of the WGA have written anyways. From final draft to final distribution it has gotten rewritten so many times. This works as a good base but so much hands on creativity is needed to build on it. Also you still need to feed it good prompts. Writers who are scared of A.I taking their jobs probably shouldn’t be writing because it’s the same as me asking some random high school kids to come up with a team project of writing a script and if that outperforms a WGA writer that writer should work on their craft. Unions hardly protect creatives anymore because everyone knows how to do stuff

    Two minds. I reviewed a couple of scripts, the acts were there all the elements intact but. A big but it lacked everything from a dialogue flow, relationship interaction. Scenes etc etc etc. Good for maybe prompts to bounce off. But you need to be a ideas man and use your imagination, not to mention human experience. But its where it's going.

    I don't need Chat gpt for ideas. I have plenty that I have thought through and outlined. My problem is I dont have much free time. I would like to use chat gpt as an editor. I have completed a television pilot using Final Draft, and I have some questions that I hope you can answer for me.
    1. Can I copy and paste my completed TV pilot in parts from a pdf form into chat gpt and use prompts like, "please correct any spelling errors, proper use of parentheses, proper use of syntaxes, proper formatting for a professional pilot script etc"
    Plus any other prompts like those.
    Could I use chat gpt as a second editor with Final Draft being the first editor.
    2. If the above scenario is doable, then how do I get chat gpts edited version of my tv pilot script back into Final Draft or into a pdf form for submitting and posting to the Hollywood types and contests.
    This would save me the time I'm sorely needing.
    Thanks for any help you can provide me.

    First of all, bold of you to release a video on sensitive subject matter. Second, ngl I feel like this is the ideal use of word calculators like chatGPT. Its like having to solve a trigonometry problem and having a calculator on hand for basic arithmetic. You can’t write a full script with chatGPT, it’s just not capable of that. But you can punch through creative walls with idea generation and also treat it more or less like grammarly.
