I'm not sure as it's not a feature I'd ever use personally. Once we detail what's exactly in the logs you can go find the folders yourself and see, I guess?
The reason I ask is when you get support from Bambu, they usually ask for the log files and it's enough of a PIA to get them as it is. Sure, they may refuse support if you're running Plus, but if you're having a hardware issue, maybe not, and making it easier to get those files for them would be nice.
The X1Plus guys and I agree that the level of personal data in the logs is not okay. Thankfully Bambu listens to them, apparently not to me, but hey thats fine.. It is not a current implementation, however it is possible in theory. You could always just pull it via FTP as well and never have to walk to the machine I guess
Some routers are good like that, some are not, some users know, some dont LOL. I feel like blocking it on kernel is just easier, since, realistically, the machine should not be doing any of that in a business class environment to begin with.
Genuine (non-offensive) question: Why did they decide to call X1Plus a "firmware"? Wouldn't it be better to call it an "alternative OS"? I mean (as they mentioned in the 3D Printing Nerd's video), all they did was they found a way to allow booting an alternative Linux distro from an SD card. And that OS, as it sits currently, also uses Bambu Lab's firmware, and not their own.
I wanted to call it a skin, but technically since it is a new firmware, they want it called a firmware. I, frankly, dont care enough to get into the minutia about it LOL
The pin lock screen really impressed me until I read it can be overcome by simply removing the SD card. I have only had my X1C a few months so will not be flashing X1C+ just yet
well, you can defeat the X1Plus firmware entirely by removing the SD card but the machine will yell at you. It is unlikely to be where this is a full install on the machine, it makes way more sense to run on the SD card. You can easily print a cover that will block SD card access on the machine if that is your prerogative.

I'm upset with how it went public. If you want to air gap your printer you cannot with x1plus. I still think that getting persistent root is important but you can't do it air gapped which sucks.

You can easily print a cover that will block SD card access on the machine if that is your prerogative.
finaly
yes sir!!
Tip of the hat you mean tip of the red hat :p 3:11
aaaayyyeeeeeee
All the new klipper or input shaper enabled printers run on a Linux based sbc.
Anyone know of a good opengl book for c++? All the books I buy are crap and I am just designing 2.5d screen savers that do particle simulation. Kinda like the ps2 ducks tech demo.
I think doom has been done buddy. Like 6 months ago.
I cant help there sorry!
And no, no doom on a Bambu yet
5 months later, how has this aged?
I'm upset with how it went public. If you want to air gap your printer you cannot with x1plus. They pulled that feature for reasons beyond me, but it happened right after the team started working with Bambu.
I still think that getting persistent root is important but you can't do it air gapped which sucks.
@3DMusketeers dude that's crazy, that was one if the main features I was looking at too.
yeah.. if your machine is still pre 1.7.0 I can try and help you keep it offline, but it is a pain in the ass. I am disappointed the x1plus team went the way they did..
@@3DMusketeers My machine is pre 1.7.0. Would you mind sharing the pre-release installer?
I was looking into x1 plus but I’ve already updated to 01.07.01
yeah :/ gotta wait for the Firmware R
@@3DMusketeers yeah I’m watching for it. Part of me is still debating if I should just go for it when they release firmware are or if I should wait until my year warranty is up and then try and put 1+ on it.
I think we should see how Bambu handles this A1 drama then that decision may be easier
@@3DMusketeers what’s the a1 drama? All I’ve heard about is the heat bed cord and they seem to be fixing that. Only other thing I can think of is releasing it so soon after the mini. Did I miss something?
No, its the heatbed cord potentially catching fire. I will go into it more on Friday. It is a massive engineering oversight that puts users at risk
Does the work for the A1 Mini?
Nope. Not yet
@@3DMusketeers DARN!
Hopefully, if there are enough machines out there, maybe they will.
But can it run Crysis ?
maybe..
It's clear that Bambu are trying to saturate the market with all the sponsored advertising. To me, it's just the hot new thing. Wait a year and you'll see they are just another business and the bottom line always wins.
I want to be REAL clear lol, they are not sponsoring me LOL
Well you wont find any sponsored advertising from Bambu here lol. The Bambu community is convinced Grant is out to get them despite still recommending their machines to the people that it would be good for and Bambu certainly hasn't a great relationship with him lol.
truth^^
Has anyone taken a low level look at the firmware?
yes :) That is how X1Plus was built to begin with, what questions did you have?
@@3DMusketeers just wondering if anything 'interesting' was found 😬
where at lol? I know in my poking around I found a lot of things I was unhappy with overall..
@@3DMusketeers when I say "low level" I mean disassembling binaries to see how things work, and possibly find GPL violations.
Once they go public you can ask them directly :)
interesting but my X1C is still under warranty so, maybe later
totally understandable
@@3DMusketeers Do you think it's possible with this kind of mod to add an usb or ethernet port ? ( to replace the wifi card and control the printer like the prusa link )
not only is it possible, it has been done. It is about making it reasonable at this point LOL.
@@3DMusketeers great news
indeed! Some tight space constraints, but it is possible
all ready 3 months and nothing from first video.... and now only with firmware R if its actually come out.
That's not within my control though....
What about Board UART connection? Is possible somehow make firmware backup copy, lets say 1.7.0 version, after update and if need downgrade like nothing happen? or even better, share copy to others to can downgrade anytime and dont need use fancy "FIRMWARE R" when come out. I think, is some how way around it. @@3DMusketeers
I would not know..
Firmware isn’t out so videos mostly irrelevant.
You seem to be the only one commenting that feels that way... Odd..
@@3DMusketeers I’ve been seeing videos on and off describing the x1plus and its features. Last video I saw was a sit down with the creators walking though the firmware. Until it’s out it’s like the other videos from months ago.
okay, cool.
