- I never expected the Elden Ring DLC to be this hard. I spent almost 12 hours playing Elden Ring for this video, atleast 8 of those hours was fighting Rellana.. I'm not okay.

How to find a soulsborne player :
1. Fights boss
2. Dies to boss
3. Realises he's under leveled
4. Continues to fight boss for the next 50 times

@@kenpachi2607 or the game is ridiculously unbalanced and unfair. The game is like fighting sekiro bosses with dark souls combat, it's ridiculous. While previous soulsborne have been hard they've also been fair, Elden ring goes beyond unfair to frankly absurd
@barakomamba Some fights are unbalanced but I wouldn't say they are unfair. Elden ring gives you the tools to beat the bosses. Lies of p was more unfair the elden ring is. The Orphan of Kos was harder than most elden ring bosses.
The stages of FROMSoft:
1. Enter the boss battle confident and full of vim and vigor.
2. Get yeeted until you start to "take it seriously".
3. Continue to get yeeted until you get angry.
4. Throw controller.
5. Enter a state of malady.
6. Contemplate seppuku.
7. Walk away from the game.
8. Continue to seethe and return to stage 1.
9. Start to get better at the fight.
10. Return to stage 3.
11. Go do something else in the game.
12. Realize the rest of the game is harder, go back and beat boss.

The bosses actually had a bug where they healed at times. They fixed it now.

for everyone wondering why he doesnt deal damage: He played 3 dex weapons. Dex weapons are build around DPM not DPA.
They are good, as long as you can attack multiple times due to their speed. DPA weapons deal massive damage on one attack. Also: Katanas are the weakest DPM weapons, since their initial damage output isnt that high (Like 300 as you can see here) BUT he infused them with Ice and bleed which both prog INSANE damage and make them decent weapons. But you have to get off freeze and bleed hits for that. Which you do by doing DPM.
So in short, the katanas are weapons that only shine if you can attack continuesly and afflict bleed and frost decently. If you cant attack however, they are simply useless. You could also play a strength weapon, deal more damage yet still have the same amounts of attacks.
DPM= Damage per minute
DPA= Damage per attack
Good to know. I already beat Rellana. I switched up my build to Str and went back to my collossal weapons and thought, just deal damage at a time and break her poise. I was also a user of katanas Dex build primarily, took me 20+ deaths until I gave up and used my brain for once lol. I also refused to explore and get more scadutree and or any summons lol
The boss in DLC are so agressive compare to the base game.

Tips for Rellana ^^
1)The double moon nuke can be jumped over,probably the best way to dodge them
2)try using a high poise damage move during her phase 2 switch.I personally use the the Dragon King Carblade charged R2 or skill

I can't believe how hard some of the enemies get the further you explore in this DLC. I've just been riding around discovering grace sites (and getting to know the locals) and I don't even want to go back to some of these places to really explore.

Lol how? With what kind of build? I beat her first try with strength build carrying the ordovis greatsword and poise above 50 at lvl 150. It stuns her really fast, she was no match.

Beat her on first attempt, and felt nothing
I was rushing to get a dlc weapon for a new character so I only had like 1 or 2 fragments, but I needed a mimic tear to beat this boss and it still took me an hour. I am a very very average gamer, but I have beaten ds1-3 and bloodborne solo FWIW

Hey Flov! I just beat her using the backhand blades after about 8 hours. I found out some cool things so if you are interested I can give you some advice, if not just stop reading this comment.
The charge attacks with this weapon are completely broken...
1. Every time she finishes attacking using both swords you can punish that with a fully charged heavy attack. The charged attacks have a nice range so you dont have to be close to her. 3 charged heavies breaks her stance and you can crit her. Before you go for the crit you have time for a single L1 attack than go for the crit. While she is standing up you can charge heavy her again.
2. When she starts changing to the 2nd phase you have time to do 3 charged heavies. This will break her stance and she will skip the entire phase change attacks.
3. I recommend using the charge attack and the stance break buffs in the physique flask, also charge attack talisman. the other talismans can be defensive or stamina regen.
4. You can jump the bs moon attacks :)...and if you are close enough you can punish that with a charge heavy.
5. so basically just try to dodge behind her back and once shes done attacking weave in a charged heavy. not every attack can be punished that way so be careful, and use the ash of war where you can.
Once I learned to dance with her this fight became super fun. :)

Exactly, so many of these RUclipsrs just refuse to use actual game mechanics (Spirit Ash and NPC summons) for bosses and then get frustrated and ask what they’re supposed to do against a boss.
Great video. I feel your pain towards the end. That boss killed me the same way too.
Tip you gotta time the jumps with the moon attack. You can't roll during that attack or you get hit. You can survive 2nd and 3rd hit if you mess up but it can't be the first one or you get hit by all three and die.
I genuinely love watching this dude. That rage is the realest form of rage from a Souls player. You CAN see the patterns, it's the dodging part that makes zero sense and I really get that on an elderly lord level
I say this as someone in your position. You need to utilize the resources the game gives you. Being stubborn and not changing your play style won't get you anywhere.
Use the spirit ashes, use consumables, use ashes of war, use the wondersus flask, use buffs, use the fragments use EVERYTHING. The game does everything to cheat you, so cheat harder.
just putting this out there, it's not your build that's bad, it's just how you use it. If your build isn't working for a boss chances are you're not using something that your build offers that would help i.e you don't know how your build works

If people want to use those mechanics then that’s fine. But some people just don’t like using them despite the advantage. You CAN beat these bosses solo, it’s just really hard, but I think it’s just a more rewarding way to play.

It’s more enjoyable. What you’re referring to is a feeling in people’s head that has no basis. It doesn’t make It easier overall. BECAUSE THE GAME IS BUILT THAT WAY! Ignoring its mechanics to just “solo my way through” for what?….bragging rights?! Is one of the most asinine takes I hear about this game. To level up in the dlc, collect scadutree fragments to upgrade the amount of damage you can deal and take.
The Revered spirit blessings do the same for Torrent and your summons.

This is one of favorite bosses to fight but she suffers from a problem that a lot of dlc bosses face and that’s the fact that they are very aggressive. I swear anytime I get low on hp, regardless of who I fight, I back up to heal and they either continue their combo at me or the close the distance immediately

Yeah, you're gonna have to dodge a combo and heal while they're recovering. Like if they've done a combo and stop swinging for a few seconds that's the window to heal. You can also heal if they're in the middle of an attack and you're too far away for them to hit you.

Dont forget to go back to dragons pit.. after you defeated the ancient dragon man or something there's a door you can open. There's a grace nearby and its also the road to proceed to the jagged peak.
You can always give milady frost infusion and keep wing stance as ash of war

After about 60 attempts I beat her with maxed out caestus. Between the bleed she was suffering and the haymakers that broke her poise, it was somehow easier than my attempts where I used a sword.

How to spot an open world rpg player, not a soulsborne player:
1. Fights boss
2. Dies to boss
3. Eventually realizes they are under leveled
4. Turns around, does other content, then eventually comes back and kicks the boss's teeth in

what I learned from the DLC bosses is a ranged option is invaluable. the dragon hunter great katana has a ranged option in it's ash of war, but you gotta charge it to get the energy wave.

Your two handed weapons did more damage than power stance katanas because when you two hand your strength scaling gets a 1.5x multiplier.

It wont let me edit for some reason but I've never seen her cast floating glintblades into twin moon attack. That was dirty. Also, im sure youve beaten this but for future bosses. Theres a minor erdtree sentinalin Dragonburrow of Caelid. North of fort Faroth. It awards you a tear for your physick flask that gives you a flat 20 percent damage mitigation for three minutes. Also, theres a magic greatshield talisman +3 below the bridge with the big troll on it that gives you a decent bit of magic resistance. Those helped me a lot.
Somehow I beat her in 4 tries, no buffs, no summons. Now I’m stuck on Messmer for the last two days.
This is the most rage we have seen from floverse and I feel bad.
For more speed, I recommend putting Torrent and your Wondrous Physick flask in your shortcut/pocket area. That way you don't have to cycle through 2-3 things getting to your healing flask.

The angry new controller opening had me rolling
The transition from "I am done" to "If you guys enjoyed this video" was gold.
The moons smashing the ground attack are easy dodgeable by jumping, you can see it coming easily since you see when they are about to touch the floor, if you learn to dodge this attack you already kill Rellana, also when she is entering in the second phase charging her swords just hit her non stop until she starts the fire attack then roll back, youll get free 25% hp second phase off. I believe this is the only 2 things you need to control and she´s all yours! Last tip, if you are too far away in second phase she´ll do the magic projectiles attack, just try to stay relatively closer.
Funnily enough, straight sword and shield was getting me nowhere. Once i got the BAEMORE out and started charging r2's and jump attacking, she stance breaks somewhat easily. I got really lucky and stance broke her in her second phase animation right before her swords actually lit up. Got a fully charged r2, slight pause, critical, then she had to get up and do the whole animation again which gave me another two fully charges r2's. I was then completely blasted by her fire tornadoes and spouts from the ground but got her after with only 3 heals used. I almost wept.
Edit: The two moon move was just too good. I thought "Ohhh, he hasnt seen this yet... This is probably not gonna end well..."

You've doubled my time with the game. I'm at 422 hours on Ng+2, and I still have a few bosses left in the dlc. At the end of my first playthrough, I had just over 200 hours in the game.

Took me like 4 hours to get past Divine Beast, but Rellana went down on my 3rd run. Looking at other people's fights against her, I feel like I just got lucky with the attacks she happened to pick.
Soothes my soul to see others have an even harder time than I did.
For levelling is a lesser concern then the shadow tree blessing and revered sprit ashes are the only thing that matters so explore or end up having a worse experience then if you keep finding the blessings and using them
The new fragments are extremely important so exploration is also important it gives you a 5% buff to both all your defenses and all your attacks the bosses are scaled with those in mind and they said not using them is the equivalent of a challenge run

Let's have quest lines that once completed will allow you to have 2 summon signs outside the final boss. But if you use them, it triples"?" his health points. From is evil. Someone from "team B's" Dark Souls 2 DLC had a hand in this evil decision.
You may have not realized but it was actually Pontiff ptsd all along.
The trick to these bosses if your a melee no shield is to roll into and slightly to their side of their attacks and they'll miss a lot more than when you roll away or to the side. I personally didn't find it as hard everyone was saying. I think people got psyched out from everyone saying how hard it is
What you really need is...
To use ashes, explore more and get upgraded
The moon attack she does towards the end, one moon will drop to the ground, then the second moon, then Rellana herself. You’ve got to time your jump to right before they land on the ground.

Heres a quick tip for any one struggling with the dlc.
Focus on "physical damage negation"
Use the Dragon Crest Great Shield Talisman (20%)
Use the Opline Hardtear in the Physiks Flask. (10%)
Eat Boiled crab (20%)
And cast Golden Vow (10%)
That's a total of 60% off the damage you would normally take. And this is NAKED. if you wear heavy armour, it can get up to 80%.
And all this for 25 faith. And 1 talisman slot and 1 physics slot.
Very very low investment for such a strong build. And if you don't want faith, just don't use Golden Vow.
Relana takes 7-9 hits to kill me. If you cant dodge 7-9 hits before healing....just try and try again.
I should put this out there that most AOE attacks can be jumped over, including the twin moon attack of Rellana. Jumping these attacks is way easier than dodging. Also, it's obvious you're just dodging on reaction instead of memorizing the bosses move and not predicting what she'll do next. Don't go into a boss expecting to beat her at a random try. Experience their moves and learn the dodge timing of their combos.
Rellana the turbo Pontiff Sulyvahn. Quite literally reminds me of him.
Relanna was hard for me as well. Her attacks are insanely fast and Malenia like. It helped for me to find more Scadurtree Fragments and use my Mimic Tear and spam spells to beat her. She's also an optional boss and there's a secret shortcut to get to the area after you beat her. There should also be a summon before you enter the fight that could help as well.

I mean it killed me the first time too, but I immediately realized hey, each impact looked like it made a shockwave, I should probably jump over em. And I never got hit by that move again.
I lost my patience, mimic tear solved the issue in 1 attempt after hours of countless dying.
You know, spirit ashes help a lot, their not a handicap or "easy mode" but rather a core mechanic that the devs fully expect the players to be utilizing, with much of the game and bosses being designed around the idea of the player using spirit summons, there's a reason why the DLC let's you upgrade and enhance your spirits beyond their normal limits of the base game, by not using Spirit Ashes, you're simultaneously denying the game of the way it's meant to be played and shooting your self in the foot
Seriously, people who say that you shouldn't use spirit ashes are basically saying you're bad for playing the game the way the developers intended
It'd be great if FromSoft trolled you with a boss where everytime he/she hits you they say "Mink, Mink, Mink!" Just to give you some grief, and make it harder than this fight.
For the magic slash attack, I found that panic rolling served me better than it has ever served me before.
And for that moon attack, jump, jump, hesitate, jump.
It took a little bit of practice to get it down, but once you get the timing, it’s easy, but still nerve wracking.
I accidentally dodged it flawlessly on my first time seeing it, but was so shocked that she just skewered me instead. 😂
I then proceeded to be bad at the game and fail the next 5 times I saw the attack.
DLC devs like "we don't know how to design a good boss."
Lead dev like "ok, just give them a bazillion health, and everyone will pretend its awesome cuz we're fromsoft."

level 340, it doesn't matter other than the stat points to be able to use various weapons and spells, some of the later spells/incantations require more than 70 faith to use
Seeing everyone get their face smashed in makes me glad i play a slow, patient tank. I killed the Divine Beast on my 2nd attempt and killed Rellana my first attempt. Hell i killed Mesmer my 1st attempt. But i main a tank. I don't shield poke, i mainly play with counter attacks or dodging. I don't just hold my shield up and kill the boss. Dodging creates better openings than just sitting there taking everything (pause).
Edit: Oh, and i dont use the fingerprint shield. I use the new Black Steel Greatshield. Also, this is my first souls game.

14 times it took me to kill that boss. The bosses after her tho especially that half horse knight thong under the map almost made me chuck my tv out the nearest window along woth the console. Only reason i beat one of the bosses is because i rage quit, went and washed dishes and then when back to it after i calmed down and beat it first try.
It helps those who played to 999 so the boss doesn't kill you in one hit it's to make the dlc easier
I think I blocked out the whole experience, because I don’t even remember how I finally defeated her. It’s gotta be easier on base game, but I was NG +7. I started a new profile to see if it’s easier.
Every boss fight and the dlc has been a breeze until I got to messmer. I’ve been playing as a mage. Even rellana was a cake walk. It’s all about the build. Some builds are better than others.

You might want to consider talisman of crimson healing. It is such an upgrade that one flask should be enough to heal 75% of whole health. This bad boy saved me in DLC. Also you should get talismans for protection and put one for defense into wondrous physick. Rellanna's moons can be only jumped over.
I just beat Messmer and the Chaos guy in the church back to back and I approached fight the same. I got the dodge timing down before I even started trying to deal damage. You’re gonna die a lot
If you learn the parry times for relanna The boss fight becomes trivial... But still quite exceptional, She is weak to Parry messmer is weak to speed and radhan is weak to Parry and speed
Your levels also matter and still scale your damage as normal, but the scadutree fragments give you an extra 5% roughly in attack and defense with each upgrade up to 105% at lvl 20
The DLC is intended to be played after you beat the game. Every time you beat the game, it gets harder. I'm assuming that difficulty carries over to the DLC. My only bone to pick with the DLC is its slower response times and slower animations. If you get knocked down, you just gotta be able to get back up almost instantly or else it's a guaranteed death.
