Hell yes, he goes from disrespectful, ignorant, angry, beliefs are stupid, and constantly interrupting, and shown no remorse or regret even watching the clips of what he did he never flinched or blinked with a reaction. Then he goes for his closing argument and we’re expected to believe your behaving, are sad, have regrets, taking the jury like your soft spoken without an anger problem. He plays it off like it’s hard to talk about and he is holding emotions in.

That's the thing that sucks. I think that the fact that I want to be a juror would make me a bad juror lol. Juries are so strange. "let's legally kidnap a bunch of people for a few days to a few weeks and then give them the power to decide the fate of someone." But there's not a better system that I've heard of.
But 100%, those 15 people, 12 jurors and 3 alternates, should be considered additional victims of DB. We all have the ability to walk away from this trial. They don't. The state legally kidnapped these people.

He tried to placate his behavior in court and his arguments with the judge by telling her that he wasn’t brought up this way. That he was frustrated and upset about all that has happened. Well guess what? The very next day…… that apology went right out the window as he continued to interrupt, complain, raise his voice, talk over the judge, not listening to what the judge was telling him, disrespecting the judge, the prosecution and anyone who said something about his actions.
So you say your mother didn’t raise you this way…..right? Therefore you have clearly indicated that you never listened to your mother. No you were not brought up that way….you just decided to live this way no matter what mama told you.

She gave him warning after warning without action, and DB noticed it, and DB walked over judge several times, daily. Why is she letting him run the show? DB has right to lawyer but he deciced that he doesn't need one. So that is not excuse to let him act how he wants to.

I am a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief. We sometimes get somebody like Brooks reporting aboard. We have some very effective ways of dealing with them. We senior guys don't often lose the war with them, but if we can't deal with them, we give them the boot, with a bad discharge to carry around with them to job interviews the rest of their lives. And those are the guys who explain their failure to get an Honorable Discharge by saying, "Yeah, I punched my captain in the mouth when he told me to do something I didn't want to do, so they kicked me out." He feels very small, but has to say something to make him feel like a big man. He is a failure.

Having previously been married to someone who has a lot of the same traits and uses a lot of the same tactics when arguing, I can say from experience that it’s significantly more difficult when you are the one engaged with them versus being a third party to the argument. The frustration and exasperation the judge is clearly feeling impede the ability to come up with the responses like what Peter and the chat are offering, and it can be very difficult to disengage. So while it’s frustrating to watch as she continues to engage with him, keep in mind that it’s easier for us as outsiders. I actually use that as a mitigating strategy when dealing with my ex, engaging a third party who can help with forming logical responses vs emotionally based ones, and recognizing when to disengage.

The fact is it’s mostly on principle that this lawyers and judge are so upset about nullification being mentioned. This is not actually the case where it will likely be an issue. This isn’t a petty charge or a sympathetic defendant or a death penalty.
I think the DA knows that a pro se defendant getting up and asking a jury to let him off for murder and hitting 60+ people has 0 chances of working. Particularly when he didn’t testify and had literally no one testify to his good character or stand up for him. And his behaviour in front of the jury had definite flashes of rage even if it was way worse out of their presence. All those times that he sat and glared death at the judge for ruling against him. Maybe I missed it but I think they were being strategic in that the Prosecution wanted the FINAL word and thus they were going to play along at that point to ensure, they got the last word. With respect to the Judge...I think she has done a great job, but at this point, I think her resolve is very thin - she's exhausted, she's triggered (I think) and he's gotten in her head and "frankly" it's f-ing CREEPY. You can see from her body language towards the end of ALL the proceedings today, that she wants to get as far away from him as she can. I think perhaps she's done and she's trying her best to not ever have to deal with him again in the future.

I just read a comment that DB is despicable. Despicable is a really good description. He is definitely deserving of hate. He had an opportunity to maybe get life with the possibility of parole. There was a decent argument to be made against intent. But after his actions and words in this trial he has buried himself so deep they will throw the book at him. I've never had a defendant affect me like this. I imagine some if not all of the jurors would have similar feelings. Thanks so much for covering this trial. I love hearing your take and everyone's comments. Yall are such an intelligent kind community.

I thought the same thing as you re intent but then looked up the statute for first degree intentional murder - intent can mean he knew or should have known his action could result in the death. So, all the people in the road, the cops, the barricades, do go toward that definition of "intent"

His family doesn’t even like him. They feel relieved that he’s gone for 6,000 years. He tried to guilt the jury into nullifying him. Manipulation. Didn’t work this time. And he can’t stand it.
