    I don’t think Ms. Boone would have even “tried” to get along with this lawyer if the judge hadn’t made her represent herself. It was a reality check to a degree. Just how much she did or didn’t learn remains to be seen.

      @@JCM-ry6deFair, but the facts are she had no marks on her, she went upstairs to sleep after recording him begging to be let out, showed no outward remorse or relief, and lied about her alcohol consumption that night. Yes she was a victim…but this was not self defense in the legal sense, she killed him/enabled his death and deserves 2nd degree murder. It is gross to include the actions of the actual victim’s brother as a basis of her actions, it indirectly infers she killed him because of a perceived fear he would kill her, that is victim blaming.

      How would you feel about a guilty verdict getting overturned on appeal if the appellate court found that her obnoxious conduct was *not* bad enough to constitute an involuntary waiver of her right to appointed counsel?
      To put it in context, other criminal defendants have physically assaulted their defense attorneys, sometimes even grabbing one of their attorney's pen and stabbing their attorney in the neck, yet those criminal defendants retained their right to counsel. I don't think the appellate court will agree that Sarah Boone involuntarily waived her right to appointed counsel by merely saying mean words about them, especially since she was never warned to stop doing that. I think Sarah Boone is 100% guilty of Second Degree Murder and I want her guilty verdicts to be upheld by the appellate courts.

      @kathrynjavandel4357 I see where you're coming from, but I'm not sure your analogy is entirely applicable here. Physically assaulting your lawyer is one thing. But Sarah has objectively and demonstrably engaged in behavior that could very easily be construed as not allowing not one, not two, but 8 lawyers to represent her to the best of their ability. There are certain decisions that are absolutely left up to the client, but lawyers exist for a reason, after all. They're the experts and are there to use that expertise to provide the best defense they possibly can. Sarah, for lack of a better term, essentially "Karen'd" her way through all those attorneys by simply not allowing them to do their jobs. I could see it getting turned over on appeal if it were one, two, or maybe even 3 attorneys. But 8? That's a clear and identifiable pattern of behavior on the part of Miss Boone. I think the judge made the right call by forcing to her to represent herself. Specifically in so far as describing it as "exhausting" her right to "court appointed" counsel. She didn't lose the ability to retain counsel. She lost the ability to have FREE counsel provided to her by engaging in what could very easily be described as intentional and habitual behavior. Just my take. I'm not a lawyer, either. So I could be ridiculously off the mark here.

      @@AxelordSMIJES Agree. Also, Sarah’s lawyers indicated “ethical” issues, and that tells me that if they went along with whatever she wanted, they could be disciplined or disbarred, thus pretty much ending their careers. The attorneys asked to withdraw and she agreed as per her letters and statements in court. The lawyer I recall who was stabbed with a pen or pencil didn’t ask to withdraw. Also, they were already in trial, not several months out which gave attorneys the opportunity to respond.

The video of the victim in the suitcase speaks volumes. And Sarah HAD ample enough opportunity to escape this "abusive" relationship way before the actual crime. I see another Casey Anthony case. Different players though. She is still guilty. I will never change my mind on that. She had the SAME opportunity that everyone else has in that situation to LEAVE the situation. No matter HOW hard it may be. She didn't. After witnessing her behavior, reading all her self centered letters? I hope she is convicted and goes to prison. For life. She COULD have removed herself and moved on with her life. But she made a choice. Period.

    I believe and correct me if I’m wrong, the court has to be officially made aware of how a client is acquiring (financially) an attorney especially if a defendant is declared indigent. IF not, the attorney could have a time asking court/JAC for help with the financial costs associated with expert testimony. Could be a situation where she could afford the attorney and but not the costs of expert witnesses but I don’t think that’s the case here.
    Either way the court has to know the defendant’s status or ability to pay anyone, on record, with future motions associated with costs and the costs of the taxpayer.
    I think her attorney saying “she’ll owe me” is a way of getting around that.

    Lawyer Hobson (#7) already hired a crime scene investigator who did a crime scene reconstruction. It cost $10,000 plus all travel and daily expenses. If the one Owens proposes isn't doing anything different that the original one did then it should be denied. Duplicate experts should not be appointed.
    I notice that there was no motion for the hiring of the forensic psychologist that testified in the Martia Thompson case (This is the third expert Owens wanted to hire) . His testimony about altered perceived threat under BWS got Martia Thompson an acquittal even though she shot her husband while he was laying on the couch sleeping. Her case mirrored Sara Boone's case. I would've liked to have seen the trial but Court TV didn't archive it. I think that's why Sara Boone was smiling so much in court yesterday. She is hoping this expert will get her an acquittal too. Maybe he still wasn't able to get a hold of him. This also might be why Owens let it slip about Jorge's brother's case.

    I think it's very disgusting and inappropriate for him to bring up George's brother. If that's the case, then Sarah's brother and him.Being imprisoned and the horrible things he's been convicted.That needs to be allowed as well

    • @kateashby3066
      @kateashby3066 11 дней назад +1

      What do you mean by “allowed”? None of this is going to be in the trial. So no, it’s not allowed. He is her LAWYER, so of course he is going to do anything necessary to get the judgment off of her. That’s literally his job. Any lawyer who has ever done a press conference has done the same. You advocate for your client, by ANY means necessary. And while it’s not logical in terms of “Jorge and his brother are violent therefore they ask for violent things to happen to them”, it’s relevant in that the general public act like Jorge was a poor innocent victim. No he wasn’t. He absolutely played a part here. He IS a victim but he played a part, he’s not innocent. His criminal file shows that.

    I am glad Sarah will have a lawyer. Otherwise, she can come back with an unfair legal representation in an appeal. Owens is mentioning a plea deal. She should be sentenced to 40 to life, a plea deal of 30 yrs, at the minimum. He also talked as about getting her abused 'spouse" conditions. My problem with that is, she didn't call the police. We didn't see him abusing her on video. He had several arrests, but Sarah was having him arrested to show her control. Wasn't she playing the damsel in distress? When Jorge was arrested, he was passive towards the Policemen. Will they be able to locate the upstairs witnesses, who heard the suitcase going downstairs, then the silence? She waited hours, called her ex-husband, & he told her to call the police. I honestly think she was going to ask him to get rid of her Samsonite. That is why she waited & never called LE! He walked away. No sense in becoming an accessory to mur...der. Narcissists expect complete loyalty & control over everyone.

Potential jurors aren’t stupid and will clearly see why he did it and will only serve to make this atty look desperate.
