WOW love this, this is a lot like creating a thumbnail for designing. What has helped me a lot with starting was categorizing the clips with colour codes, it helps familiarize me with clips and lets my brain stew on ideas. Though the trailers I’ve made have been based on other trailers so starting has been easier for me.
Yeah, very much like thumbnailing! I have another video in a different series about breaking down and categorizing shots, though I don’t do it by color ruclips.net/video/x-dikHPjBgg/видео.html
@@DerekLieu Hey what game engine where you using? I ask this because I'm kind or having a hard time creating my trailer....I only need to know how to create the text screen properly, meaning that first comes the scenery such as cars, people, etc., but then it goes a pitch black screen with text and then switch's back to various different scenery before going back to text I need help with that and I also use Unity3d.

Is there "free" or watermark footage to practice making a video game trailer? I know there is non-video game footage if you want to practice editing but I am not sure if it is the same for video game footage.
I used to film and edit wedding videos and my 4k footage from a wedding would use up like 500 gb. Video games are probably 30 hours on average these days, so are you really packing 30 hours of footage for each trailer you make? I'm interested in getting into creating game trailers but the storage space requirement seems like it would be outrageous lol.
For most projects I tend to do all the capture at a high bitrate h264 like 100+ Mbps, which is WAY smaller than what you're probably shooting. If the game has very high fidelity graphics then I'll do the rough capture at h264 and final capture in Prores. One of my biggest projects (Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew) I did four trailers and that entire folder is 1.5TB. My entire Psychonauts 2 folder is about 800 GB, and that's an example of doing mostly h264 until it was time to start doing final capture.
