Thank you for the video, I bought the same unit, but apparently the body of the dome light are connective to the negative wire, I checked using multimeter its show connection to one of the tab , what you think.

Is there any way of upgrading the done light from not having the on/switch to one that does without customizing or rewiring?

Just curious for my 1977 Oldsmobile Omega, since they are both GM cars of the same year and I'm trying to find the correct style done light since mine is missing, was your Impala's domb light cover always the style (the "fancy" decor on the cover at the end) or was it a plain one with no detail or anything originally, thanks!
