there would be no way to find nicer people on RUclips... quickly becoming one of the internet's favorite couples thanks for the honest Q&A it was awesome we ALL hope you'll do more when time permits now... 25 hours in the air... GO ENJOY OSHKOSH..... you've earned it
Yep, just like the old days. when I was growing up, we to had air conditioning. It was called 4/55. which meant 4 windows down @ 55 mph through the arizona desert, yippy!
Cannot express how nice it was to get to know you two on a more personal level. Don't get me wrong, I love the flying content and always will, but this added some great heartfelt dimension to the dynamic of the channel and you two as a couple. Cheers
Great video. A suggestion for Haleys intro to flying. I would suggest that your instructor put her through the "pinch-hitter" course. My wife went thru the course and became a great companion in the air. Became very proficient @ flight planning as well, I even took a nap a couple of times while she did the flying.
A great addition to your very informative videos. I’ve said before I’m living vicariously in your adventures. Keep on having fun, and be safe.Looking forward to your new home being finished. Best to Nikk.
Great video and Q&A. It's like sitting and listening to good friends talk about their adventure. Hailey absolutely needs to get training at least to the point of soloing. God forbid it's ever needed, but if it is, it would be the most important thing she ever did.
The intro always makes my day... "a.k.a Halstorm.... 'oh god' (massive eye roll)"... Need to figure out a way to keep that going because it's hilarious. :)
I am LOVING the series!! Been to Oshkosh twice. Received my pilots license for my 40th birthday. I just wanted to poke holes in the sky and You are showing me how I could have done it. All of this before low and slow days. So love sitting and watching on my big screen monitor. Being a video shooter, You do such a GREAT job of filming. Makes me feel like I am right along with You. Love seeing Haley come along. Love seeing You as a family. Even the challenges with the shack.
A pilot no longer flying as well except thru these videos. This 'episode' was superb, aloowing us, me, to know the two of you better. Really heartfelt, I feel like I might actually know you. ❤️
Hi Trent. I just passed my checkride today and I am an official private pilot. Thank you for showing everyone what is possible with aviation, I have no doubt your videos have influenced me to pursue a pilot career after putting it off for so long
Thanks Trent & Haley for such cool videos and an opportunity to be your wingman! I thoroughly enjoyed them and the addition of the "Hale Storm" is just icing on the cake! You guys are awesome!
Micmac Yes, Yes it can. These experiences aren’t possible without money. It drives me nuts when people act like money means nothing. Take away Trents plane, house, and everything else and put them in debt and record their days then and I bet there’s a whole lot less smiling and fun and experiences and good fun memories and a lot more stress and bickering and sleepless nights. Money might not be able to buy happiness for everyone but it certainly can for a lot of people and lack of money can almost certainly remove happiness from anyone.
Was great to meet you in person! Thanks to you and Nick for presenting an interesting forum....we are all thankful that Nick survived to tell his story. Many years ago, I attended a forum presented by the great Duane Cole. His talk was about safety and how we all talk about flying is safer than driving...but we all are missing someone who let a mental lapse end a life. Mental lapses in cars are less fatal.
Great job on the Q & A, maybe do another after your back from OSHKOSH or after the house is done. Keep up the good work, these videos must be exhausting to do! SO as Mike Patey says "LETS GET BACK TO WORK!!!"
Love the daily (mostly) updates. I have never been to Oshkosh but it's on my list, until then I'm living vicariously through your posts and those of your crew. All the best.
I really enjoyed the Q&A. Have to confess I'm REALLY relieved your Wife is so on-board with getting comfortable with flying in a sketch-plane,and even learning how to fly yours. That trust and willingness to allow yourself to be brought into your Mate's "passion" is incredibly important for your relationship. I mentioned earlier that my Wife was in a motorcycle wreck when she was 10,and couldn't even remember her first 10 years at all. We worked through getting her back on a motorcycle as my passenger, and I even taught her to ride the Harley just in case the occasion should arise where I was unable to ride back from camp due to a snakebite, broken extremity, etc. At least she could start the bike, ride it to the nearest town and bring help back. I'm glad you two are having a great time. By the time you get back to Reno you'll both be starting to plan for NEXT year.
Haven't given you a comment before. You two are like the nicest kids I know I enjoy your videos they are great. for an old aircraft radar man I sure enjoy your flying. I am 87 years young.
As someone currently in my second "successful" marriage, I'd dismiss the last three words of your comment..It's a dangerous mindset to have in any long term relationship ✌🏾
I’ve just started watching your channel (maybe a month now, not counting) and you do an exceptional job. You mixed a lot of different “looks” into your flying. It keeps it interesting. Whether its cool landings on mountain tops, Q&A with the wife, or one wheeling it into some small town diner, it’s always entertaining. Enjoyed the idol prop vs stopped gliding, comments on VGs, plane comparisons, and listening to your friends (although the nick thing was tough and I understand your friend being offended with your ‘young” pilot comment. I’m old too). Though the only time I have actual questioned your sanity was the electric mountain bike jumping... now that’s crazy. Overall, just wanted to say thanks for the channel and entertainment.
When I first learned to fly, every little drop would cause my brain to scream "WE'RE GOING TO DIE" even though we're like 1000 feet in the air and the drop was maybe 20 feet, so it would have to go on and on for a minute or even more. After a while, 15 hours maybe, it had gotten to more like "we're going to die" and a few hours later, it passed without comment. Then, I didn't fly for a few years and my reptile brain went back to screaming at me. It quieted much faster the second time.
Matthew Morycinski The point is that almost anything can be overcome if you want it bad enough. Hoover had motion sickness and overcame that. Fear of heights can be overcome as well.
Enjoying the videos, Looks like fun flying low and slow. I'm an RV7A driver down in Australia, need to travel fast to get anywhere here. Was in Oshkosh last year, great place, every American I met couldnt be nicer, you guys rock
Thank you so much for doing this video. We learned so much about you. Very personal information that you shared and it makes me want to watch even more. First flight for me I was 8 and my uncle had a 2 seat plane one in front and one in back. No steering yoke, just a stick. This was in the 60's in northern Minnesota and he would let all us kids have a chance at flying, then family would stop whatever cars were on the road and we would land and drive the plane home. I have warm fuzzies watching your videos. Flying is awesome. Thanks again
Q&A gives people a chance to feel more connected to you as people and also to your hobby and video content. The more connected they feel, the more hooked they will be on your vids, so definitely think it's smart to keep doing the Q&As with some reasonable regularity, e.g., once per series or event or maybe once per month or two? Great job on your channel. You two are living the dream :)
Trent needs to install a strap on the passenger side...just a loop that is attached to the main frame overhead. my friend who builds dune buggies, has a name for them: geezus-straps. (cuz that's what people are screaming when they grab for them. lol )
AWESOME! Welcome to Oshkosh! We saw you guys on approach flying over HWY 43 as we were driving down TO the dells! ;-) . Hopefully see you on the grounds this week!
Yes Trent keep them coming ,they are great. The flying and places you see are fantastic but getting to know the personalities along with the flying is even better.
Check out the documentary film, Flying The Feathered Edge. It’s about Bob Hoover. When he was a kid all he dreamt of was flying but he had serious problems with motion sickness as soon as he started flying. His solution was to do whatever made him queasy or outright sick and as it stopped bothering him he’d push a little deeper into the problem area. He gradually taught himself aerobatics and finally got to the point were he could do anything with a plane that it was possible to do. When he joined the Army Air Force and got his first training ride in a Stearman he demo’d a roll for his instructor and then his entire repertoire. The instructor went to the base commander and told him he’s got a student who can outfly anyone on the field. The base commander suggested having him teach the instructors as much as he could while stationed there. The rest is history. A whole lot of history. His approach might help Halley. (Sp?). I got a bit queasy during my first hour or so, especially deep stalls. My instructor taught spins before your first landing so you’d know the penalty of a stall on final. We did two spins and except for the weird feeling of seeing the earth rotating in front of me I was fine. When we cleared the trees I thought we were a bit high so I dove about thirty feet and leveled off ten feet up. All the way back to the office and in the office he kept repeating in a loud voice, NEVER DIVE AT THE RUNWAY. My friends repeated that phrase all the way back to NYC. Our chosen field was a seventy mile drive from home. Of the three of us I’m the only guy who got his license.
Q & A was good fun and really nice seeing how you both feed positively off each other. I’m a car guy by trade and hobby and have raced cars for 34 years (Hailstorm if you ever want a go behind the wheel your first time is on me) but you’ve sucked me into the world of flying small aircraft. Thanks for helping me expand my horizons.
Thanks guys for such a warm, sincere, and likeable video. It is so great watching how you guys support each other so well. I hope you continue to have a blast at Oshkosh and can't wait to see the next videos!
The thing I like about you guys is that you guys are so down to earth. Real people unlike so many You Tubers. Take your time and enjoy Oshkosh, but please take some video's and put out a vid after its all said and done for those of us that aren't able to go.
This Saturday was the first time were able to go to Oshkosh. After watching your vlogs you made me and my kids even more excited to go. It was amazing. Sorry we couldn't see you. But my 13 year old son is a huge WW2 historian and was able to see his favorite fighters. Thank you for doing these videos, made the whole experience even better.
Hi Trent & Haley, great channel glad you arrived here safely. Hope to see both of you and the entourage Saturday if you are still here. Don't miss FLY-MART.
Really glad you guys and the Freedom Fox got there safely , saw so many reports about damage at Oshkosh because of the thunderstorm. Mary and I really enjoyed your Q&A, thanks for sharing so much! You guys are great!
I have been watching your videos for some time now and have really enjoyed each and everyone. Today’s video was honest and pure. Love who you are and what you do for the community.
Trent, with you and Hailey chilling out, answering questions, this was one of my favorite videos of yours! Two very nice people, just being themselves. I'd watch more! Stay safe
Your Videos are EPIC! I would like to see a video on your safety, like walk around, what you guys talk about when in formation, and landing on a small area so the planes don't get blown around, and anything else. Your videos are inspiring!
Trent (& "Halestone"), it was a great Q&A session! To be honest I have never been an eager fan of Q&A's BUT!!...there's a few channels where the personalities are interesting--I watch sailing channels as well and was all ready to be a bluewater cruiser, looking for a boat until the covid scamdemic began, and subsequently broadened my interest to backcountry flying--and I become interested in not just the flying, or sailing as the case may be, but in the people involved as well because at the end of the day it's the level of enjoyment by the people that adds substance and colour to the concept of the experience of flying, or sailing.
The Q&A was really nice. Congratulations. You can do another one some day. Haley is really sweet and compliments your videos. Best wishes to Nick for a complete and quick recovery.
Trent, thanks for the video. I love your approach to flying and authenticity. I loved the Q&A!! It is a format that wouldn’t work if we it was done all the time, but an occasional Q&A would be fantastic. We on RUclips get to fly along with you as you show us your flights and experiences. Thanks so much for bringing us along. (One day I hope to get medically qualified to climb in the left seat again)
This was a very enjoyable video. Thanks Trent, thank you too Haley. It was a pleasure learning more about you two and Haley, you were a real Trooper throughout that entire trip to Oshkosh. Well done!!
Trent & Hailey very good, very real, huge thank you, nice to see you both sharing a little of yourselves with the world. After a few years +-25 in aviation, LE, medievac, and general I am amazed that you are at the point you can tell the world the reality of (have a plan, have an out, have a back up when both fail) please embrace your life experience and cherish your flying friends. You will never find another group of friends that is more dedicated to your survival, success, and fun until you have faced death and come out the other side. I hope Hailey does learn to at least land that would set my safety officer mind at ease.
Congratulations! Your QnA was great and you guys are awesome together. It is beautiful to get to see the aspects of both of you how you both make it work. It was very genuine and involving Hailey is a great addition to your channel.
Thanks for answering my question! I've been a fan of Cam Zink forever, so cool that you already had something planned with him! But yeah, if I had to hike a mountain to clear a landing spot and also clear trees, I'd probably put that one on the back burner too...
This time taken by you and Haley to do a sit down was outstanding. Got to know you two more in a personal way. Keep secrets and smile - make us guess. Enjoy yourselves out there.
Thanks for the Q&A. Nice to get to know you both as real people, and a couple. Enjoy the variety of types of videos you do... And... maybe one time do a video on a safety walk through so folks can see what it is about. Be safe and be blessed.
With the exception of videos showing landing on mountaintops, rolling hills AND the one where you broke your seat, this was maybe the best video ever, so... YES, do it again please!
Very nicely surprised by the Q&A. Not only flying but some interesting personal stuff. Your candor and honesty felt very natural. Looking forward to seeing the FreedomFox and maybe meeting the both of you at OSH this year. Trent, keep up the flying and making great videos. Haley, keep enjoying that journey into concurring your fears and the growth into the love of flight. It will sneak up on you when you least expect it. Nice job to both of you!
Trent, Haley, Great to see both of you for a change. I got to say that Haley adds so much to your video's Trent. She is REAL EASY ON THE EYES. I have been a pilot for 58 years and always tried to include my significant other in my flying adventures. It makes life at home so much easier if both of you can take part in a fun trip. I owned a Cessna 195 for 43 years, her name was Baby. Baby is now in Bavaria, Germany, and I have given up my business (Golden Age Aircraft, Inc) and my Inspection Authorization. I hope that you two have as much fun as I did on the MANY trips to OSH. Have Fun, and Be Safe. Gary-76-Year-Old A&P Past IA 15,000 hour pilot.
I like it. Great Q & A. Nice to get to know you two better. You have what appears to be a great relationship and make all this work. Happy to see Hailie enjoying herself. Have fun and will wait patiently for the next video.
Hey Trent and Hayley my wife and I chucked our jobs in and bought a 250acre farm and we now have to work together 6 days a week as we have a day off a week each and cover for each other on those days off. It was a bucket list item then but still love it now 5 years later
Thank you so much for being so open and caring about us too! Sharing your life is fantastic, we are friends! Tom here, thanks again! You are a beautiful couple!
Q&A was a great idea and should be done like this setting more often..like your house build. We have gotten to know you very well, except your episode about Nikk. That base to final, especially in back country flying, has always been a killer even for experienced pilots...case in point with Nike who is a CFI. But back to Q&A, we now are getting to know Hail Storm much better, she so is soo sweet. Keep doing these and some more on the house guy's.BTW do enjoy yourselves but also keep shooting...you can always process and upload when ya get back. We want to see Osh through your eyes and let Haley do some shooting when you're up.
I think it's awesome that you both met when he was so young because it's my opinion that when young kids get together and make love for the first time together it's hints to solidify a relationship for life. I think when people are sleeping around for many years by the time they get married they really have no sense of actual commitment because they've never just been with one person their whole life I get the impression you two were primarily with each other right from the beginning which is quite a testimony. Glad to hear of your commitment to each other! Enjoy the journey!
You guys have GOT to have kids! It's the most fun and satisfying adventure EVER!!!!! I dreaded having kids, thought it would be like the end of my life. Turns out it was the end of an old life and the beginning of a much more awesome life! You won't regret it! The house you guys are building would be an awesome place for kids to grow up and teaching them to fly would be so much fun!
Hey Trent, Just wanted to say great video. It has been cool to follow the daily videos but it was really great to get a Q&A to answer a few questions. It is always neat to get a bit of background on people as it sometimes surprises me how we can watch channels for years without ever really knowing the person behind the lens! Thanks again and have a great time in Oshkosh!
Thank you guys so much for doing a QnA like this!! Candidly answering questions like this and especially Haily’s perspective can be the final push for families to feel comfortable with aviation.
Haley, it's usually more comfortable when you are flying than when you are riding because you are involved. Trent, I saw your plane last week. I saw the Flying Lawnmower pilot take a little girl for a ride around the patch. It was precious.
The Q&A was really good. Gives people more of a chance to get to know you all as real people. Someday I'll make it out west to do some backcountry flying!
Thanks for taking time to answer those questions. Haley, you attitude and enjoyment has helped my wife want to fly with me once my aircraft is done. Thanks. Hope to meet you both in the air someday
Haley - quick secret - most pilots are afraid of heights. I definitely get nauseous on occasion when I'm not up front especially, and even sometimes when I'm in the right seat or just not flying. It's amazing how much you forget about the things that cause it once you actually get in control and your mind is on flying instead of on everything else.
I love it at 2:17 the guy pushing out your fox made it look like he was launching a toy plane by giving it the run push. Lol. That made my day. 😂🛩✈🛫🛬🇺🇸
there would be no way to find nicer people on RUclips...
quickly becoming one of the internet's favorite couples
thanks for the honest Q&A
it was awesome
we ALL hope you'll do more when time permits
now... 25 hours in the air... GO ENJOY OSHKOSH..... you've earned it
Need them to get together with Jason and Nikki Wynn for a crossover episode.
Yup, I agree
Could not agree more.
Yes, the freedom fox has A/C -- it is called 7000 ft altitude.
OK, that was funny!
It's got air conditioning just like my car 2 and 60. 2 windows down, 60 (or 100 in the Kitfox) mph.
WD-40 = Window Down 40 mph
@Adymn Sani air cools down really fast.even in the summer at 7000ft the air can be like the ac in your car
Yep, just like the old days. when I was growing up, we to had air conditioning. It was called 4/55. which meant 4 windows down @ 55 mph through the arizona desert, yippy!

Yep. It did just that.
Q&A was good. Informative. You guys did good.
You two are great. Love your interaction together. Thank you for sharing your lives with us as well. Very cool.
Haley has really chilled out as your trip progressed. Good to see! You guys are a great couple.
Respect for your lady's patience and support. Its priceless. Good luck with your house build 😁
Q & A was fun and human, thanks for being so forthright. Wish I could be there this year, putting #Osh20 on the calendar.
Great video. A suggestion for Haleys intro to flying. I would suggest that your instructor put her through the "pinch-hitter" course. My wife went thru the course and became a great companion in the air. Became very proficient @ flight planning as well, I even took a nap a couple of times while she did the flying.
Hailstorm's comments about PTSD and letting Trent work through things after the crash made me think what a wonderful partner you are :)
A great addition to your very informative videos. I’ve said before I’m living vicariously in your adventures. Keep on having fun, and be safe.Looking forward to your new home being finished. Best to Nikk.

Thanks Trent & Haley for such cool videos and an opportunity to be your wingman! I thoroughly enjoyed them and the addition of the "Hale Storm" is just icing on the cake! You guys are awesome!
Money can’t even touch the value of the experience, memories and the fun that you will have during these trip. Great video as always! Fly safe!

Thank you two so much for allowing us to accompany you on these wonderful adventures1
Great job on the Q & A, maybe do another after your back from OSHKOSH or after the house is done. Keep up the good work, these videos must be exhausting to do!
SO as Mike Patey says "LETS GET BACK TO WORK!!!"
Tom Richmond apple is in the process of making an arm pump emoji as we speak lol!
I could never afford a plane ever . I really look foreword to your videos almost daily. You and hailstorm are a really great couple so great to see.
Love the daily (mostly) updates. I have never been to Oshkosh but it's on my list, until then I'm living vicariously through your posts and those of your crew. All the best.

Thanks, very cool of you both to take the time and hang out with the RUclips folks....Now go have an adventure.... blue skies
Tundra tires for the win! I'll be saying hi if I spot you at OSH.
Just wanted to say thanx for taking the time to do the QA session in the middle of being at Oshkosh. Way to be. Don’t stop.
I really enjoy your videos. I really enjoyed the Q&A. It's so nice to get to know both of you better. Please keep the videos coming

Haley's stomach drop problem would not be an issue if she were inl control of the aircraft. I get car sick if i'm not driving.
JailDoctor1 not always the case some people are still very uneasy of heights whether they’re in control or not.
Just remember that Bob Hoover suffered from air sickness early in his flying career.
When I first learned to fly, every little drop would cause my brain to scream "WE'RE GOING TO DIE" even though we're like 1000 feet in the air and the drop was maybe 20 feet, so it would have to go on and on for a minute or even more. Matthew Morycinski The point is that almost anything can be overcome if you want it bad enough. Hoover had motion sickness and overcame that. Fear of heights can be overcome as well.
I agree that learning may help. Sometimes people are more confident just because they know what is going on
The feeling of being lighter than air is a life experience for many pilots...ENJOY the experience and beat your fear of heights....kick it good !
Yea you guys made it and Hailey did great hope she enjoyed it? You and the guys should name her Miss Freedom Fox! Have fun
Enjoying the videos, Looks like fun flying low and slow. I'm an RV7A driver down in Australia, need to travel fast to get anywhere here. Was in Oshkosh last year, great place, every American I met couldnt be nicer, you guys rock
I saw you all land at osh on the EAA live cam, I think you arrived shortly after 4 pm. :-)
Same! I took a screenshot of that and I still have it!

Just glad there were no creeps raiding the comments
Q&A gives people a chance to feel more connected to you as people and also to your hobby and video content. Hail Storm holds onto the fuselage tube for comfort. Her arm must go to sleep.
Trent needs to install a strap on the passenger side...just a loop that is attached to the main frame overhead. my friend who builds dune buggies, has a name for them: geezus-straps. (cuz that's what people are screaming when they grab for them. lol )
Your flying videos are always awesome, but the Q&A is by far my favorite thing you’ve done. Such nice people. Have fun and be safe!
The yellow #44 plane, Anyone know what motor he is running? it sounds amazing
It's a 300hp turbo Yamaha engine he stripped from an Apex snowmobile.
That's WildWestSteve: its a Yamaha motor (Yamaha Apex or Yamaha RX1: a snowmobile engine)
AWESOME! Welcome to Oshkosh! We saw you guys on approach flying over HWY 43 as we were driving down TO the dells! ;-) . Hopefully see you on the grounds this week!
“I’m that guy, I dated my friends sister.”
Amen
Giggidy giggidy!
Yes Trent keep them coming ,they are great. The flying and places you see are fantastic but getting to know the personalities along with the flying is even better.
Did he say airpert? 😂
Yes
went to comment this too haha
Eerpeert 😁
Hey, he's not only eloquent, he's creative. I didn't know that was a word! ;^)
Check out the documentary film, Flying The Feathered Edge. It’s about Bob Hoover.

A/C in an airplane 😄 The A/C is the altitude.
Loved following you guys to to Oshkosh. The Q&A was great. Hope to meet you someday. Would be fun!
Enjoying you guys a lot! Enjoy seeing great couples flying together and enjoying life!
Thank you!! I really appreciate your time!!
This was a very enjoyable video. Thanks Trent, thank you too Haley. It was a pleasure learning more about you two and Haley, you were a real Trooper throughout that entire trip to Oshkosh. Well done!!
Trent & Hailey
very good, very real, huge thank you, nice to see you both sharing a little of yourselves with the world.
Loved this video. So honest and different. Haley, you freaking rock for being an amazing supporter of Trent. Puke and all!
Enjoyed the Q&A . It's nice to get to know you guys . LOVE seeing Hailstorm becoming more a part of the "group" .
Thanks for answering my question! I've been a fan of Cam Zink forever, so cool that you already had something planned with him! But yeah, if I had to hike a mountain to clear a landing spot and also clear trees, I'd probably put that one on the back burner too...
Great job guys of just being real out side of the awesome flying
This time taken by you and Haley to do a sit down was outstanding. Got to know you two more in a personal way. Keep secrets and smile - make us guess. Enjoy yourselves out there.
Thanks for the Q&A. Nice to get to know you both as real people, and a couple. Enjoy the variety of types of videos you do... And... maybe one time do a video on a safety walk through so folks can see what it is about. Be safe and be blessed.
Y’all look like a great couple best wishes and safe flying on your way home and have fun ! 👍👍🛩🤠
It's delightful to see such a great couple being so supportive of each other and enjoying the flying experience together. Way to go
Trent, Haley, Great to see both of you for a change.
Thanks to you both, best Q&A ever, I usually skip them because most are not engaging, yours was great, have a great time and a safe return. Cheers!
Enjoyed the the Q and A! The humanizing of these videos is really an important hook to draw folks in, thanks for keeping it real!
As an aviation specialist ..... love you guys .... you Rock ... keep it up .. and good luck
Great Q&A you two. Thanks for the willingness to let us in on a bit of your lives!
Thanks so much....you all are great for sharing....Have fun and stay safe....take care!
This format was really great guys!! Learned a lot about you two. Enjoy the time at the show!
That was fantastic. . . Please do it again. . . We really appreciate your candid answers
