    I just purchased the M18 a few weeks ago. After 41years in the Plumbing Industry I wish I would have made the investment LONG ago. What a deference in man hours, yet alone the solder, flux, cleaning and Mapp gas savings! I LOVE this tool.

    thanks for the video. I have notice some people have concerns about the sealing element. this is not natural rubber, it is EPDM, it's a synthetic rubber that is mostly made from gum base. if you ever tried to digest chewing gum, you know it doesn't. so if it can take the hydrochloric acid in your stomach, you should be OK with the chlorine in the water. also, the sealing element doesn't see as much of the water as many think. as long as you insert the fitting full socket, the pipe does most of the sealing and the o ring acts as the solder in a soldered joint, it holds the pressure but doesn't see velocity. I hope it clarifies some misconception about the o rings.

    • @bobpitt1695
      @bobpitt1695 7 лет назад +1

      The compatability of EPDM and Chlorine is qualify as fair, however chlorine in water exist in parts per million, I can't really see a problem.. (refer to chemical compatability charts, Cole Palmer is a good one)

    How does the connection actually hold together? Push fittings have teeth that bite in but with this tool it just looks like it's compressing the pipe and relying on a friction fit which I don't trust. Does it indent small marks in the pipe to act as a mechanical connection or something?

      Thanks! I couldn't decide between the Ridgid RP200-B or the Milwaukee M12 Press Tool, but I ended up with the M12 mostly due to the idea of being able to use it with 1 hand in tight places. I've had it almost a year, but haven't used it much. Glad to hear it holds up well with a lot of use. I do have an M12 XC6.0 battery, which is nice because it makes the press tool stand up (and it lasts forever!).

      With some press fittings being so ridiculously expensive I combine solder fittings with press fittings.In other words I solder unions and ball valves to copper pipe nipples then I use copper press couplings,copper press elbows and copper press tees where ever I need which gives me the best of both worlds.You don't need to spend so much for a good press tool,I recently bought a 18volt press tool that came with standard press jaws for U.S. copper pipe sizes 1/2" through 1-1/4" and I only paid around $1,000.00 for the press tool kit from over seas.I don't care for milwaukee for several reasons.Reason number one is that the milwaukee m18,like its predecessor the milwaukee m12,is ridiculously expensive and reason number two is that both the milwaukee m12 and m18 press tools do not allow for the press cycle to be stopped once the press tool power buttons are press which to me is a big defect when you consider how expensive press unions and press ball valves are.If you happen to be up on a ladder and the ladder shifts and as a result you inadvertantly press the power button on the milwaukee press tools before you are sure that you are ready to press the joint you will be shit out of luck because once the power button on the milwaukee press tools is pressed the tool will not stop until the press cycle is completed.The 18volt press tool that I own stops immediately the moment I release the power button and the press tool also has a button to manually retract the press tool's ram to the ram's original position if and when the press cycle has to be interrupted.Brand names with big price tags do not always guarantee that you are getting a good deal.I use JW copper press fittings which are just as good as viega copper press fittings without the insane price.For those of you that will probably give me crap about buying from over seas where do you think milwaukee and many other robber baron companies have their tools made?I'll give you three guesses and the first two guesses don't count. www.supplyhouse.com/Copper-Press-Fittings-Imported-21703000

    Would rubber o-ring inside the propress fitting gets eaten by chlorine in water and starts leaking in future?

    • @misterplumber
      @misterplumber  9 лет назад +2

      From what I understand the o-ring plays less of a role in the seal than the other 2 copper to copper press seals. Insertion depth is key.
