Congratulations for trailblazing the container home industry in Cape Town. Now tell us how you got past the building regulations.
There should be a way to get pass building regulations... There's a place called blikkiesdorp in Delft Cape Town, they've put quite a few containers up for the less fortunate families.... Ask me how... I have no clue... But if you do find out let me know... Because the way SA is going I'm actually considering this amazing idea.
If the container house is registered with the NHBRC and it is either built using an Agrement certified building method or is built to a rational plan from an engineer it is totally accepted!
OMG, im so in love with this house. I see so few container homes done right, done the way I am trying to build mine, but this one is spot on. And the views! Mine (Scottsdale, AZ) will be views of the cactus desert with the Four Peaks and Weaver's Needle Mountain Ranges in the background, so not shabby just different.

There are many factors in doing a pro job. One plan I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Magic Container Plans (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the no.1 info that I have ever heard of. Check out this incredible site.

Container houses only work if u can't afford to buy a normal house AND the land. I couldn't. I rented a cheap plot on a farm and built a container house that was able to be MOVEABLE. Then I bought a free standing plot and moved my container on to it....while living there I built a real house. It saves u sitting with a bond for 20 years thru u always got no bucks as it's gets ploughed into yr build but at least u got more control. Theres lots of compromises as well ha ha

This is the best countainer house ive seen so far. It looks like a regular expensive house. A lot of container houses on youtube look cheap

Am curious to know how much the land itself cost to build this home. If there is no land to build the home then the home cannot even begin to being built.

Note (I love shipping containers) but he has totally covered all aspects of the container. It would be cheaper for him to complete a timber build and move on. Containers are for those who want to show container style or build for stability/cost.
transport and cranes shoots tbd price through the roof ..in this case not really worth it unless you are braging.
My family and i want to build a containers house, and yes the idea came from grand designs, containers houses are cheap and beautiful, we can't wait to start our project too, I really like what this guy did, wonderful.

You can find a cost effective container online for a good price, I’m sure if you did some searching, something will come up.

Hello there.The idea behind the stools at the kitchen island was New.The arrangement of high back chairs was quite interesting.For me the use of the natural rocks on the property took the cake. African hon e designing is truly different.
There are plenty of homes in Los Angeles and San Francisco foothills where rock intrudes into the house, especially into the crawlspace.
This is bar none one of the most pimped-out shipping container homes I’ve ever seen🥳absolutely amazing

I'm surprised to see that they cut off the corner, or so it appears. I'm wondering how they re-supported that part, and how they maintained support when they opened the center walls up. Great job
There is a load bearing column, you can see it behind the couch on 2:05 & 2:57. The cut off corner were reinforced with steel (welded). Rule of thumb for container houses, any time a part of the corrugated steel is cut it must be reinforced with metal otherwise the structural integrity is compromised.

I bet that interior rock gathers a lot of dust and is difficult to keep clean. I'm a bit of a neat freak and when I see a convoluted decorative design the first thing to cross my mind is how to keep it clean.

Gorgeous but I really didn't like the black rails around the deck or the dark frames around the windows... it gives the look of.. well.. windows, instead of flowing outdoors. The rest of the house and that view though ... 😍😍😍😍😍! Just stunning!

You shipping container home people who knows how to be artistic and creative is having an effect on me in a good way. However since it's introduction to the real estate bussiness; I realized that the cost of buying one of these container is expensive depends on where you live. I for sure would settle for a home like this in Jamaica any time. What I also realized is that it has less negative impact on the environment.
