Ben McKenzie (Gotham, The O.C.) joins me this week to talk about how the anxieties and insecurities that you may have can sometimes contribute to your appeal as an actor. Ben also opens up about what it was like dealing with early internet hate during his time on the OC compared to how social media has evolved now. I find it so funny that Morena was in a few episodes of The OC, but they didn’t meet until how many years later
Its a fact Ben didn't even know she was in the show until she reminded him in Gotham. She says she met him once on the OC set but he doesn't remember it at all. (Source search youtube: "Morena Baccarin's Husband Didn't Remember Meeting Her" James Corden show)
I think about this whenever I see them together haha. Rewatching the OC atm, love these two together, so much chemistry on and off set.

I think even Morena mentioned that in her interview that she was crushin on Ben on the OC and he missed that chance.

Best Jim Gordon... but he deserved a better show. Thats not to say it wasnt good. But, I liked the original premise, which was supposed to be a police procedural w the cop fighting the good fight, crime on the rise necessitating the eventual birth of the Batman. But instead it became Batman The Early Years... the show jetted thru Batmans Rogues Gallery. And that kid that played Bruce... had Anakin/prequel flashbacks. So fn emo...
@@DeathbySkullfxxx yea That is why I'm the opposite of most people where I liked the early seasons cause it was more of a cop show and they seem to like when it became a villain of the week show where it was more Batman-influenced. I guess fans just prefer the silliness.

This isn't the first time they met. They first met when they did that show the oc. She said he didn't remember meeting her. So they could've been together wayyy before gotham but hey shit happens and I guess they weren't meant to be together at the time.
@@JERSEYJOKER_ just look at Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis- a couple onscreen for years until their lives took them different directions only to eventually reconnect and fall in love
I remember I was pissed when they turned Barbara bad. I thought it was pointless. I was like dammit why can't we have two people that are just in love with one another with a normal relationship on a show nowadays? lol Thankfuly they realised it and they brought in the Leslie Thompson character. And Morena had a good chemistry with Ben right away.
You do understand that Gotham is based on a comic book IP?
If you want wholesome "normal relationships" you are barking up the wrong tree to expect it from such sources.
Such stories have little impact without the drama.

Dude, Morena's been on other popular shows before Gotham.
She was a big part of the first couple of breakout seasons of "Homeland", she was the lead on "V", she was on the legendary "Firefly" and oh, yeah, The OC. He saw her way before and must have had known how hot she was for years before the story he told.
She was also on a series called stargate sg1 for 2 seasons if I remember correctly small role sort of but she's a great actress plays evil very well I don't know if it was her first role or not but was very early on

I always wonder about the thought process of deciding to risk an off-screen romance with co-stars. On the one hand, you have your typical job concerns such as what if it doesn't work out, will it be awkward, will this cause misconceptions (especially if it's a lead and a supporting actor/ress). On the other hand, it's fraught with even more complications as acting isn't a 9-5 with other positions readily available, departments to transfer into, or being able to avoid each other by taking a different route to your desk. Daily interactions are impossible to avoid and made even more complicated if you have to play lovers or friends afterwards.
That would have been a disaster for The Americans co stars cuz they had incredible chemistry
It reminds me of the rock band version: Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks breaking up at the same time Christine and John McVie were divorcing, and Mick Fleetwood was splitting with his wife. Of course I’m talking about Fleetwood Mac, all of whom continued recording and touring with each other. They would probably not recommend dating coworkers, but at the same time if you do you can produce some big hit albums from the drama of it all.

Morena came to his trailer on the oc with a few other girls because she had a crush on him. He just said "hey". She didn't get the impression he wanted to talk so she left. He didn't even remember meeting her when they met again on Gotham. How could you not remember her?!😳

I mean its pretty hard to describe meeting your spouse when they were with someone else at the time, he kinda fucked up anyway toward the end there. but theyre really cute and he seems like a solid dude who handled t pretty well.
I think that would be a good scenario for me to determine if someone was a suitable partner because my response to missing a child's 1st birthday party would be 'Well, luckily, a 12 month year old doesn't have any concept of Birthdays or parties and won't remember a thing no matter how special you try to make it- so just have the party in a couple days when you're home, take some pictures and they'll never need to know the truth.'

it is not skin color that makes a woman pretty. Insecure Women or man tend to be hateful or paranoid. Unfortunately, a lot of dark skinned Asians tend to be insecure. The term Morena in some society implies that a girl is pretty even if she Dark.
It all started on the day she decided she was going to leave her husband and possibly cheat on him.
Why do people think everyone's lives revolve around their kids??? People have jobs, production has deadlines, money is being spent. If you rescheduled for everybody's family issues, movies would never get made!
@Jason Mistretta I get what you're saying and I agree, but 40hr workweeks and filmmaking are entirely different regarding scheduling. You can't reschedule filmmaking because of a birthday, or really anything unless it's extreme. They're not going to push back production unless it's for an actor's injury, a problem with the set, a pandemic, etc. Rescheduling takes up money and time. I'm really not trying to be a jerk, it's just that 40hr work weeks are not the same. It's really sad that she missed her son's birthday, though... but it's good that she went to his party. Earning money is important too, to keep the family stable. We all have to make sacrifices. FIlmmakers and actors don't have easy lives with a lot of leeway. People have no idea how much people in the film industry have to sacrifice. Art is one of the hardest jobs, especially because you have no idea what bumps are in the road ahead.

It doesn't. It's about leverage. Can your film survive without your stars? If so, you won't adjust the timeline. If yes, you will adjust. That's how it is. The more important you are the more leeway you get.
