- Join Hannah and I on a trip out West! We are heading to California and Canada for MotoTrials events but brought the MTB's, RC's, Unicycle, and an Oset to mix it up and break up the drive. We are traveling and sleeping in a van most nights. First stop? Curt Gowdy State Park in Laramie, WY. Do you like this style video? Subscribe for more.

Part one of a long trip, do you like this style video?
What an amazing vid...love the patience you have with Hannah. I really enjoy your channel.
Thanks! Glad you noticed, patience is often tested but it only seems to make things worse when you don't wait. I like to see the progress and that takes time. Although it is hard to hold back and not just take off sometimes, haha.
Do I like this video? Are you kidding? It's such a gift for you to deliver this content for us to enjoy! It's a place like no other I've seen people riding and of course I guess it takes somebody like no other to ride it :-) Curt Gowdy is a very interesting place to ride. Thanks for sharing!
Great to hear! Glad you like it. It is a different style video for me so just seeing what people think. I know I like to watch it and remember how fun it was to ride there! More coming.
You do such an awesome job putting these videos together. And your riding is incredible.
Thanks! It’s a lot of time to get them the way I want them but glad people can enjoy. 👍
Great video. I like the style and look forward to more. Your riding blows my mind.
Thanks! More to come👍
I'm so glad you had Hanna ride ahead of you so we had something to look at other than your handle bars and orange bike. At my age 69 I can only dream of being able to ride as well as you are able to. I may not be able to ride like you but I have just as much fun, I think!
I love Curt Gowdy SP. That place has such amazing features and no hype. Nice riding Pat & Hannah!
It was better than I expected! Couldn’t find much info on it so we almost passed it up. Glad we didn’t, well worth the stop.
It doesn't get huge hype because it is in Wyoming. Though it gets a lot of traffic from Colorado, as the trails are more MTB centric than most of what is available in northern Colorado.
My local trails. Curt Gowdy sits almost exactly halfway between Cheyenne and Laramie, so serves as local trails for both towns. As for the wind, it is your constant companion in Wyoming, it is never not windy here haha.
The wind is worth it for the awesome terrain!
Good grief man. The things you can do with a bike and some rocks just baffles me. Another great video! 🤘🤘
Thanks! I love the challenge natural terrain brings, and there is so much out there. 👍
I feel like I’m gonna have a heart attack watching you ride back down! Holy moly! This is not for the faint of heart!
Those trails look awesome! Great job as always! Keep up the good work!
Thanks I’ll try! It was a blast there, better than expected.
Dude your riding skills are up there with Jeff Kendall-Weed and Jeff Lenoski. Well done video! Giving this a like and subscribe!
Thanks! Those guys are awesome, glad to be compared to them. 👍
Awesome video
I liked this, it was much different than what you normally put out. Please do more!
Good to hear, I’ll try to keep them coming👍
great video, your riding is top notch. awesome that you include your lady. can't wait to see more!
Thanks! More coming. Glad people enjoy seeing Hannah ride, hopefully she can keep progressing. 👍
Yes, that was fun and I was entertained :-)
Just found your channel! Awesome stuff... subbed
Thanks! More coming. 👍
Great video! :D
You can rip on anything you ride!!! Loved the video
Thanks!
Pure awesomeness. Have the same bike definitely not the skills, haha.
Nice! It is a great bike, enjoy it and have fun.
Im new in all this about mountain what bike it is? I want buy one and what its the cost?
First time watching your vids. Sick skills. Would love to have better trials skills for our gnar in New England. Great stuff man🙏🏼
Thank you! Keep riding New England has some cool terrain. 👍
Not sure if you are coming through Billings Mt but if you are I can guide you around or be sure to check out Zimmerman park and most definitely Acton recreation area. Great camping out there as well...as long as it’s not to wet.
Darn we did drive though there, will have to check that out next time. Thanks!
hell yeah laradise
Dude is incredible- would love to see you riding with Blake Samson and Radde!
Thanks that would be a blast!
What did you use to secure your phone to your bike? If it can stay on with your riding it can definitely stay on with mine!
It is a Bikase superband, works really well. bikase.com/product/superband/
If Pat Smage ever built a trail, he would't be able to fit the name and all those black diamonds on the same sign.
Hahahaha yes! Not many would want to ride it though I bet!
I thing it would be avesome if you collab with some great riders, like Phill Kmetz or Seth's bike hacks at some point. It could be really interresting to see the difference in riding style live, and their impressions. Don't know if that's really possible for you.
I bet it would make the channel bigger in no time too, but that has bad consequences too, eg. there aren't any trolls/ toxic ppl here in the comment section at this point that I see, but with more subscribers, there are always the bad ones.
I’d love to ride with them some day! Unfortunately our paths have not crossed yet but hopefully they will in the future. And I can take the bad comments if they do come haha
Is your bike built for rough riding? And do you ride using clips?
KodyGD it’s an enduro bike so it can handle some rough stuff. Not so good for rock hopping trials moves though! No clips for hard MTB or trials/jumps for me.
Pat,
Is the word "altivation" a regional thing?
From,
A Floridiot
I am not sure since that was the first time I have said it or heard it said haha.
Curt Gowdy is a mere 7500ft in elevation haha, go to the other side of Laramie and most of the trails are over 10,000ft
Just out of curiosity, why do you ride with your phone attached to your bike?
I don't very often, but there were a few spots I really wanted to hit and that place had lots of trails so it was hard to follow without looking at the map often. Taking off the backpack to get the phone with map app out over and over can get annoying. Plus, BiKase gave me some different mounts to test.
coming to vancouver? let's ride some real trials
We were near there but didn’t get a chance to pedal much due to time. That was the biggest bummer on the trip. Hope to be back some day!
shame. next time!
