You know what I just realized? When they were talking about the song that was cut for Mufasa, it took me a while to realize that the singing voice was Ken Page (the guy who plays Oogie Boogie in The Nightmare Before Christmas). Talk about crazy
8:59 This was an interesting take. Simba telling them about what he did to get “banished” is the saddest thing ever. I honestly think that could’ve worked. But in truth it still works if they left it out because during the climax Simba never told anyone what happened to Mufasa when he was at the gorge. And it was guilt that kept detail hidden.
yeah, it really saddened me too in this take Simba told them why he was “banished”. And I also see in a way it could have worked, even there is another scene that apparently follows this same fact, in which Timon reminds Simba that if he returns Pridelands, he will be killed. I loved more their empathetic and understanding attitude towards Simba, not just being funny with him; I was moved to see how Timon and Pumba really cared for him; and the fact that he told them about what he "did", and they did not care it and wanted to protect him anyway, they were really his refuge after his dad died. Well, I always wondered what it would be like if Simba had told only Timon and Pumbaa, and I really hoped it would be like this here.

Am I the only one who thinks they should put all those extra scenes in? Be prepared (Reprise) sounds cool af (though Scar wanting Nala is still creepy, however, they made Jafar and Frollo do it). The Pumba's line about taking responsibility is also a surprise (in a good way). Mufasa's song might need slight adjustment to make it more majestic (maybe?) but he (I mean both Mufasa and James Earl Jones) deserves one.
Maybe, another remake based on the same art style?
Please. Mufasa and Simba scene was so personal and powerfull without jumping zazu. Are you serious?
Nala and Scar. No. Its creepy and was showed in orher movies. Warming up old meal. No taste.
Plus being so obvious about "I love" between nala and simba is so borrrring and no twntion, fast. Their relationship shows words does not matter but actions and bind. Too obvious. Sublime is better.
I'm guessing Sarabi and Zira are Contraltos, Sarafina and Vitani are Mezzo-Sopranos, Nala and Kiara are Sopranos, and Rani is a Treble.

Im really sure that the first scene shown here was finished in late 1992. This was a while before many VAs where hired. So it is amazing that rafikis VA was there from the (kind of) beginning.

I am so happy that presentation of simba was epic and legendary and majestic not with crazy rafiki and comedy.team made the best decissions possible. Singing jumpy song with zazu in moment of personal connection with son would be silly

"King of the Wild" shows where the idea for the movie came from. No wonder it was cut out..
It has all the characteristics and quirks of the original material.. way too obvious.

Thank you for uploading this. It's so damn important, and it's absolutely RIDICULOUS that these laser disk extras were not included in ALL future DVD and later Blu-ray releases of The Lion King. Especially nowadays when physical media sales are so rare. I'd 100% be moved and convinced to get the official blu-ray of the Lion King if it included all these extras, including even just the stills that were also on the laser disc version; every single bit of supplemental material that has ever been included in ANY release. As they should, as it's something many people who love the film are interested in seeing, but also as a part of film history. 🥲
It's really a shame. I'll keep on sharing more featurettes of other Disney movies :)
