- I love this version of the song. A lot of folk have been hunting for the Cliffs of Dooneen over the years. Dooneen Point is at the mouth of the Shannon on it's southern (Kerry) shore, but the song may have it's roots in an old poem 'The Cliffs Of Moveen' which are across the river on the Atlantic shore of that Clare peninsula....
My grandad sang this song, to me when iwas young, im 66now, it brings me back,bwell done wexford❤

I first heard this song sang by a bloke called Frank O'Farrell who was a 'One Man Band" who played around the pubs of Tooting, Clapham and Battersea late '70s/early '80s. He was such a talent. This version reminds me so much of him. RIP Frank.
