    My exploratory trip was March 31 - April 9. Omg, I was busy everyday! I was locked in on the fb groups. Met the black expats Saturday morning for their weekly walk/skate in the park at Parque Aleman, went to a poetry reading, went to an all white party lololol, we love a good all white party. Booked an airbnb experience with a local realtor to learn about buying property in merida. It was also a great way to know all the neighborhoods, he gave me a great map. Walked centro. Went to the beach. Went to chichen itza. Did a historical walking tour in centro. Went to the Vincent van gogh art exhibit. I had a blast and never had a down day. My next trip will be heavily focused on looking at properties. Beautiful city. Can't wait to come back.

      Go to Merida in the summer to see if you can handle the heat and humidity. Lots of people go there around the winter months and think it's great and then move there and then spend four months of the summer heat sitting indoors sometimes in one room with the A/C booming because it would cost a small fortune to cool the whole house down. I live in Ensenada and my electric bill is about $7.00us per month. Just saying. Buena suerte!

    You're being NICE, Mr. Cartess. I'll be honest: these folks who show up and expect the in-country folks to PROVIDE for them?! The "I'm here! Handle me!" infantilism? Pretty shocking. #NoBueno

    Is your consultation specific to Merida, or do you also consult on other states and cities in Mexico (QRO in particular)?

  • @blue1hair

    Add walking into a vet office (if you have a pet) asking questions about the breed of your pet and if there is something special you need to do if you want to move and bring your pet!

    Hey Mr. Mexico (Cartess)…I am looking for a second residence to visit 3-6 months at a time. Do you think Mexico would be a good place for that? I don’t plan on moving full time since I am not prepared to leave my children and grandchildren permanently.. your thoughts please. Love ur videos…

    • @MoveAbroadandThrive
      @MoveAbroadandThrive  11 месяцев назад

      Definitely a great place. It's close to the US and you can get back home quickly if needed. For short 3-6 month stays, I'd rent or stay in AirBnB. Don't buy until you've been here a while and know for certain that's what you wanna do longterm.

    How far out from actually moving should you do the exploratory visit

    • @MoveAbroadandThrive
      @MoveAbroadandThrive  11 месяцев назад +2

      I’d say as soon as the idea pop in your head that a move to your destination is a real one. You need to be able to rule it out if it doesn’t work out as planned. Do your research and have a couple of places. For example, Merida may be too hot, but Queretaro may work. But for some, the elevation in Queretaro may be an issue. So have some backup options and get there and rule them out quick if thats the case. Dont wanna be planning for 1-2 years only to find it aint gonna work out 9 weeks from your planned escape :)
