I respect that you let that big beautiful fish go. I too always release giants. They've made it that far in life, they deserve to be able to continue it out until they die naturally.
Don’t worry, the fish died within minutes afterwards, its gills got ripped Maverick didn’t realize it sadly but the guy had decent intentions. Unfortunate situation.
The first big laker is always special. I’m obsessed with lake trout fishing through the ice. Montana has been too warm in western Montana for good ice. Nice work Mav!!!!
Use grab n grips on those big lake trout. Seems like mouth is open more often than not when they come up through the hole makes it quick and easy and you dont have to go anywhere near the gills. Keep up the killer content
You are so blessed! The joy on your face is like a light from God. Big 26 coming up, so happy to be a subscriber to share what you put up for us to watch! Big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Best... episode... ever... show us some more of that off grid cabin. Bring one back for a catch and cook. Those fish were amazing!!! My wife is laughing at me while I yell at the phone. 😂 So good!
Beautiful video, beautiful place Mav. Fascinating to know the lifespan of some of these Lake Trout average 10-20 years, some even older than me - 54... Crazy cool. Just awesome to see you and your buddy living large enjoying life man, badass.
Awesome man love the fishing content. It's what hooked me ( pun intended) a year ago. Watched every episode since. I need to try ice fishing give me something to look forward to in the winters
We were at this cabin prior to you that winter. We ended up cleaning the cabin quite a bit - every utensil and cooking vessel were littered with mouse excrement. Re-rigged the wiring, swept, cleaned the kitchen items, trapped mice, hung the flag. Weather wasn't great and fishing was pretty slow. Snow machines got trapped in deep slush going back to the trucks. A bit of an ordeal getting out of the slush.
I live in southeastern mass..where the crappy get 15 inches or better...footballs..they r massive..please hit me up and ill put u on some fish..record size pb
When spring time hits head over to Bear creek near the Manistee river (it's a bit of a local spot so you may have to ask around for directions) and you will have the best salmon fishing of your life, nothing but 30+ pounders up and down the creek but you will have to be in the water to get to the fishing holes.
The first 4 minutes of this video felt like the beginning a found footage horror film. I kept expecting someone to murder one of you out of nowhere....I need to lay off the horror movies lol
Awesome vid as always! Just seen the white beast in Hopkins the other day! I also have a white fx4 I bought around the same time you got yours. It was fun watching your truck buying videos while I was searching myself. Anyhoo, I’m going to have to buy one of your stickers and slap in on the back. Keep on trucking 🤙🏼
Lovin the ice fishing videos. Something I have never done (in the UK, nothing freezes that much!!), but I love the idea. I would be rocking up in a light jacket tho and freak everyone out (anything around 5 degrees is short sleeve weather - the joys of "natural" insulation 🤣).
Man congrats on the laker, I just got home from a nice Lake Ontario lake trout trolling trip today and caught 31 lakers. But just keep those fingers out of these beautiful fish gills
thanks dude! I did my best, and in the moment I had thought I clipped a gill, but reviewing the footage I felt like i had done a pretty good job of handling it. Sure pulling a fish like that out I should have tried to get under the belly, but being nervous I muffed up. Fish lived to swim another day though.
Try and aim for the belly, reach below the gut and push up once it’s head is in the hole. To be honest I’m not sure if it’s possible with bigger fish and an 8 inch hole. This one barely squeezed. that’s why we made doubles
Great fish , try to fillet a smelt and ad it to your stinger hook when jigging , if you get follows start reeling up at a slow constant speed and watch your flasher that puppy will follow it up till it thinks it’s getting away and hit your jig , plus try 80 to 120 feet , you’ll be surprised to see what’s down that deep... make cold lake Alberta a bucket list lake any time of the year full of Lakers 15-20 hook ups a day
I respect that you let that big beautiful fish go. I too always release giants. They've made it that far in life, they deserve to be able to continue it out until they die naturally.
Disagree dead fish, I digress...
He ripped its gills out, thing probably died soon after
@@MexicanBagel yeah that thing was toast
Don’t worry, the fish died within minutes afterwards, its gills got ripped Maverick didn’t realize it sadly but the guy had decent intentions. Unfortunate situation.

It’s crazy, I’m in Ontario trolling for lakers and you’re driving sleds on frozen lakes still, man I miss the ice:(

Didn’t think I’d ever enjoy watching someone fish but this is my shit🤣🙌🏼
