"Felt led." That's one of my favorite phrases from my religious days. The other is, "The lord put it in my heart to..." That means you wanted something. Good stuff.
Particularly critical and hard-hitting this time. I loved the bit about the cleaning up of the desert. Thanks for another great episode, keep it up. And I wouldn't mind more of these extra critical ones myself.
HOLY CRAP!! I was so happy when you mentioned that quote from Deuteronomy about taking a wife from war. I read that the first time in Catholic school and literally laughed out loud!!
LOVE it. Hahaha. Oh, Bible. You're so funny. I'd like to see Jessie cursing a fig tree. That poor tree! Perhaps Larry could tell him to reign in his temper against foliage. Hilarious, as always. :D
That was just brilliant...I love the personalities you give to everyone. You keep Mr Deity calm in the most obsurd or innapropriate situations, making him almost seem like an idiot at times, it just puts a unique spin on the ridiculousness of some of that religions rules and beliefs.
Haha, brilliant. Some people might not like how this episode portrays Mr. D, but I think the message it sends is clear and true. The Christian God repeatedly performs and promotes horrible acts against his own children whom he supposedly loves, while at the same time he seems almost oblivious to how terrible these acts are. Again, brilliant episode. Also, the cutoff at the end was hilarious.
Thanks again for more genuine "laugh out loud" moments than anyone could expect. Comdey genius is a title too often bandied about, so I shan't abuse it... that was alright, even without a banana. ;)
Most excellent. And it creeps me out when any group of pleople think they are chosen by a magic invisible earthquake/tsunami weilding callouse petty ass in the sky.
@sulljoh1 Bingo! This episode was absolutely based on their conversation. The stuff about the 30 days was taken almost verbatim from that discussion. I used to work with and for Denis Prager, and I couldn't believe that he said there was no death penalty for sabbath-breakers. That was an outright lie on his part.
Definitely one of your best videos ever, if not the best. These people trying to defend the Israelite s genocide by saying that the Canaanites were dirty and criminals are as funny as they are pathetic. GOD MADE THE CANAANITES TOO ACCORDING TO YOUR BOOK! No he couldn't fix them, or give them guidance, just like he couldn't fix the people before the flood, the only just action was wholesale death as punishment, even for the unborn and children, right?
Lighting and Set up for this season is looking really good. Also Mr. Deity has lost some weight the past few years! Keep up the good work. From a 99cent per week fan.
I've watched it 3 times now and the last line still makes me laugh until I cry. My cheek muscles are burning from laughing. Mr. D rocks my atheist socks
It is entirely creepy. The line before that kills me too, "The killing never stops because there were so many wars of conquest." WTF did he just say? That's justification for all the Biblical killing?! Here's the scary part. I know Dennis well. We used to be really good friends. He's a good and decent person (if a bit of a hypocrite). Only religion can make good and decent people say things like this and think they're championing morality.
Last response - you have a whole UNIVERSE of cool material - you could have appearances by Einstein, Galileo, Darwin, Greek gods, Hindu gods... not to mention including more female characters - ideally ones who aren't one-dimensional representations of "femaleness." I'm a playwright and I know plenty of writers who'd work cheap for the exposure opportunity. Also - you need to show more of that hot Jesse guy - in all senses - he's amazing.
Amazing, right? Here's the story on that one. There was another line that Larry was supposed to say (we shot it and everything). He says, "hold on" and walks off. Deity: "where are you going?" Larry: "to get the list." But when I was cutting the episode, I found that expression in one of the takes (from another part of the episode) and knew that no line would ever be better than ending the episode with that face. It's one of the reasons I love editing. It's another change for creativity.
@TurboFool Point taken, there has always been that undertone. Perhaps those hours of being trapped on the phone with Pat Robertson have taken their toll...
@Hashishin13 A JW told me the Canaanites were evil down to the last child. I told him that didn't make sense and that genocide was wrong. Period. After that, he waited for just the right moment to hurt my feelings on purpose. I haven't spoken to him since. Sadly, it was no big loss. A person needs moral friends, friends who won't inflict pain on purpose or bail at the first sign of trouble. That sort of person is in short supply where I live...and other places, too, unfortunately.
It's an old meme, from the series Freakazoid, where if you say the word "Candlejack" he'll appear and take you away before you finish typing the sentence, but will still press the "Post Comment" bu
"There is no way I could not be one of those things; funny, interesting, clev...." /Jimbo I think I should post response to show the tears that are rolling down my face and my body rolling around the floor. lol I can't catch my breath.
Another really great episode. Except, so far as I remember, there was no "offer of peaceful slavery." All of the Canaanites were to be completely annihilated, "given" to Yahweh by the sword. The Gibeonites were the only nation enslaved, after they tricked the Israelites into thinking they were foreigners.
@knowwaie That's a great idea. And maybe Mr. Deity could explain to them why He couldn't just reveal himself to the Canaanites and give them commandments to follow. The Canaanites would tell him that they believed their God wanted human sacrifice, and Deity could say, "Nope. I don't approve. Stop that." Then, the Canaanites would say, "Okay, Sorry." And then, they wouldn't have to have people dashing babies heads against the rocks. That would be a good one!
@misterdeity It was a pleasant surprise to hear you respond back. I did not expect it, nor was I looking for a response. Anyhow, I agree, and do give you props for doing that. I know I wouldn't be able to, but it's just my personality. I wish it were. Reality is reality, and I understand where you're coming from. I guess I was just stating it out loud. You do what you have to do. I just gave an account of my feelings about it; neither here nor there. Anyhow, keep up the great work. Bye
I know. It's not nearly as bad as the idea of punishing everyone because their alleged first two ancestors ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. I mean, think about it, eternal torture for every human as the default state just because the first two people ate a fruit, and the only way out is to believe a religion based on a holy book that has no grounding in science, history, or archeology?
Wait 'till you see "Mr. Deity and the Really Hard Time". That one will either be up next, or two episodes from now. But it's already in the can and really, really yummy.
I don't understand how these videos do not go viral... just awesomeness.
"Felt led." That's one of my favorite phrases from my religious days. The other is, "The lord put it in my heart to..." That means you wanted something. Good stuff.
"I told him my people would clean up, leave no historical evidence that they were ever there."
That is so classic God
OMG, that was so funny, "Out of mana." "Who doesnt love my chosen people?"
The look on Larry's face at the end was priceless. Great episode guys.
The expression on Jimbo's face in that last shot is pure gold.
"plus we're out of mana." xD
That caught me really off guard, I had to go back and make sure I heard it right.
That argument with the offer of peace and the 30 days until rape sounded so much like Pat Robertson... utterly crazy. :-) Great episode!
Excellent dialogue and acting. This type satire makes it plain and clear 😂
I laughed out loud at the cleaning up the desert, great stuff.

Brilliant as always. This was particularity hard hitting.
I really liked this one. Funny without trying to be too deep or without getting really preachy.
"I know, I'm ridiculously competitive."
I loved this one! It reminded me more of the earlier episodes. Keep up the great work Mr. Deity!
I know. I just noticed that after compressing. Damn!

Awesomeness!
Hits every nail on the head.
1:40 "my people would clean up completely" lol
lmao I just downloaded the Mr. Deity theme song onto my iPhone...it's epic :-)
It is entirely creepy. The line before that kills me too, "The killing never stops because there were so many wars of conquest." WTF did he just say? I like you begging bits! It's like a whole extra funny bonus video!
This is a great episode! Thanks. Mr. D!

Hahaha. One of my favorite episodes. Thanks!
Best cutting ever! Could I make a direct donation to Jimbo alone?
I can't decide which I like more Mr D or the begging - best series on you tube regardless
Best episode this season, loved it!
Thank you, Jimbo!
Oh, great episode!
OMD! That would be really, really, super-time awesome. I really think this could be one of the best shows in the history of ever.
My favorite blank stare is Larry's at the end.
One of your best... well done!
Wow, I think this was the best one in awhile :D
VERY nice... Good cut, Jimbo, you're my hero! :D
The old testament! I love it! Funniest video I've seen in a looooong time!
"Plus we're almost out of manna" ROFL! Whole episode great!
One of the best episodes, methinks
That's because the canaanites had their deity receivers set on AM frequencies as opposed to FM.
I agree, best one yet!! Fantastic!
Larry's look at the end was priceless! Haha!
Really good episode. Again!
Was that a new ringtone I heard? Any chance on making it available for download?

lol There are no lenses in Larry's glasses
Great episode.
Jimbo! You da man! Good job with cutting it short. ;) I never did like those commercials at the end. Yah, we get it. Donate. Blah blah blah. ;)
Another classic Mr D
You cut him off :) And I can't imagine I'm the only one who appreciates it.
best one yet.

I was at first like whu? Then the very end I was like epic lulz. As always amazing job xD
Love it, as usual!
"I told my people once you've killed everybody, you can take their property."
Typo in description:
'question' should be questioned?
I get bummed out when I hear the theme. It means the episode has ended. Or a phone call! Whew!
awesome as usual
Thanks Jimbo! lol
I love this show
some really good stuff here

The 'leave no historical traces' refers to the forty years in the Sinai, and perhaps the earlier time in Egypt as well.
yes! I love that bit!
Thanks, Jimbo! :)
Great job!
Oh man, I loved it!
Glad to see the religious satire back, rather than just the Creator stuff.
