I actually like the sound of Cordoba better, Kala doesn't make a good one for that price, but Cordoba 15 series is one of the best learning uke.

I think I like the Kala more. It has more depth. Sounds fuller. The Cordoba sounds kinda flat and squeaky for tenor.

Well Ray, I am new to Ukes. I only tried these because I was buying to compare inexpensive models for use with kids' classes. You know, you can't teach what you never played! I suggest visiting a music store and getting the help of someone who can help you find something decent within your budget. Of course if you pay more, you expect something better. However, with these cheap instruments there will be quality issues. Hopefully a good musician/salesperson in a store will be honest and help you. In my case I was willing to get a slightly faulty item for cheap on Amazon and fix it up. I think most people would not want to do that. Good luck finding something that works for you.

Cordoba even with better build quality can`t overcome the deeper fuller sound due to bigger body of the Kala.

In my opinion the Kala KA-TEM has a better sound. But I would never buy without any play.
