What a lovely video. I think once you decide to clear a space, it’s nice to just crack on and get it done. The table in the greenhouse is the perfect spot to shelter in whilst doing some sowings or pricking out. I love that you are not being swayed to grow tomatoes for wrong reasons.. growing what you all love only make so much more sense. Sensible. I don’t think I’m going to grow many chillies next year. We’ll see. More peppers though, as we use a lot of sweet peppers Hope you’re getting the nicer forecast next week too. Was lovely to see you featured on Danielle’s channel too. Well deserved.❤
Thank you, Clare 🤗 I probably have to grow more spicy chillies next year, the hot sauce is running out 😁 For sure reducing the tomatoes, there's only so much you can eat, and they're the absolute best when picked in their prime 💚
It was a lovely video as always. On your video this week, it was nice to be in the glasshouse. Your explainations & detail about your experiments are invaluable. I was particularly interested in the sweatpeas. It was great to hear about your experiences with them. The chickens 🐤 were so cute too! 🙂 I watched the Northlawn Flower Farm tour you made also. For me you did a perfect job! So entertaining & friendly. It was also detailed & thorough. I hope you get lots of new subscribers from it!! It is a great idea of Northlawn Flower Farm to make those tours of peoples gardens. I will check her channel out too. I did not know about it before. Bye 😊
Thank you so much, so very, very kind of you 😊💚🌿 The sweet peas were a treat, and I really appreciate seeing them every day in the garden ❤️ Danielle is so knowledgeable about the flowers, I've plenty to learn, and she has created an amazingly steady followership, I'm truly humbled by all of the support 🥰💚🌿 Hope you'll have a great weekend ahead!
Hi Maiju, I'm a new subscriber, I heard about your channel on Danny and Kerry's channels. I think you've done brilliantly this year with the terrible weather which has been even worse along the west/ south west of Ireland. I'm in Dublin and here even the weeds had a hard time growing, so fair play to you for persevering. Looking forward to watching the US show and yours in the future.🎉🌽🍓🌺
Hello and a warm welcome 😊💚🌿 I think it is always sunny in Dublin 😂 or at least that has been my experience when visiting 😁It has been difficult to stay positive during this season, but the flowers have helped 😊 but it also has pushed me to think more critically about the growing areas and work that is going into them. And I love this oncoming season as it paves the way to a new 2025 growing season 🥰💚🌿 Best wishes, Maiju
The tomatoes behind you look amazing Maiju and we all have to take the wins with the loses don’t we, that’s what gardening is all about. 😅😅 fab husband toy 🎉. Yiu have done a marvellous job this season and let’s hope next season is even better. Have a lovely weekend, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Thank you Ali 🤗🤗 The tomatoes are so delicious ❤️ and keep cropping! Haha, the amount of noise the ''toy'' was creating is crazy, luckily it was only here for a short while 😅 Have a great weekend! All the best, Maiju 😊💚🌿
Fab update Maiju, a lovely tomato 🍅 harvest. ❤ Fabulous you're being featured on another channel 👍😍 I love sweet peas too. I didn't sow or look after mine this year so note to self for next year! Shame when plants don't work out but we're learning all the time as gardeners ehen we're trying new varieties. Have a lovely weekend ❤️ x
Thank you, Linda 🤗🤗💚 I really chuffed about the guest garden tour 🥰 I've had years, when my sweetpeas have been non-existent, but those 2 varieties have dose so well 😊💚🌿 Have a great weekend and best wishes, Maiju 😊💚🌿
Hi Maiju, congrats on the featured garden tour. It's good to change the variety of tomatoes you grow every couple of years, keeps growing them interesting for that first taste. I'm grow a completely new lot next year.
Thank you, Ady 😊💚🌿 Absolutely and you'll also be able to observe the features of those varieties 🥰 and see then what works for you. All ripening at once for batch cooking or plants that gradually ripen for more stable picking 💚🌿 Plus the flavours, of course and how easily the diseases attack them.
My bitter variety was crystal lemon - but I think I was waiting too long to pick them. Cucumbers are weird plants. Yeh I think I might stick with smaller varieties. I have some to ferment. Good news about the courgette candy! I'm intrigued. I really need to get my dehydrator out. The chillis will need to be dried soon! Yay to a third compost bin. And your feature on the US channel was super! ❤
Thank you, Kerry 🤗🤗 There are too many cucumbers that will turn bitter from being under stress and the F1 varieties seem to be the best recommendation to counteract it. But definitely smaller sized ones....at least you'll have more chances of getting an unbitter cucumber., that waiting for the large ones to grow.... only to be disappointed....😊💚🌿
We had amazing luck with a bell pepper named Green Machine this year, they were extremely prolific. Previously we've not been very successful with other varieties. Your greenhouse is just beautiful! 💚
@@spudsandroses I did not, they were out in the elements. They went through both a time of drought and heavy rain and just shined through both conditions. I believe they are F1 hybrids and would probably grow nicely in various growing situations. I'm going to grow again next year in hopes that they once again make Me look like I know what I'm doing. Lol.
The greenhouse looks like such a haven! I'm sure you've mentioned it before but what size is your greenhouse? knowing now that the central bed works so well if you were to start over would you change the layout even further? Thanks for another lovely visit to your garden :)
Hi, Orla 😊 the greenhouse is 3m x 4m and the 3m of the doorway side makes a really spacious area 💚 I've been thinking about it, and as far as the layout goes, I wouldn't mind some sort of shelving for the left side of the door...for seedlings and bits...as I'm always placing items on the ground in that area, and then I cannot reach the bed and its awkward 😂😂, so maybe it is time to go upwards (its north facing side anyways)
Hi, big thanks for all the wonderful inspiration and valuable information! Always looking forward Your videos. I’m a hobby gardener from Sweden and we often have cold and rainy summers, specially this year. This year I tried to grow new sort of paprika/ pepper called Ferenc tender and it was really successful. Both in the greenhouse and outside in pots. I got generous crops and relatively early in the season. It seems to be a good sort that I will grow next year too. Just wanted to share this tip. 4:25
I used F1 hybrids when I grew cues for sale as always good fruit. For blight and other fungi problems I recommend Elvaron or Rovral I had trouble with peppers as too cold when I planted out also slowed up the tomatoes as well then it got too hot and cooked them. Try Shirley as is good in cooler climate. They say it will rain here next week, huray, we need it not a decent rain since June.. The best Tomato I have grown in my time was Solution from Rijk Zwann, but I don't think they do it any more a pitty as was a very good variety. I bet it's not as windy as it was in Vietnam and Tyland over the past week, it's was a mess and over 200 dead and more to come as a lot missing and a village buried with all the occupants.
Thank you very much for the variety suggestions, 😊💚🌿 It seems the F1 hybrids are the most reliable in todays climate 🙂 I would love to find a non-F1, too perhaps for outdoor growing in cool climate.
@@spudsandroses I don't know if you can still get it as the company appears too have gone, but an outdoor cherry tom which was very good was called Red Alert. If you can find it is excellent for outdoor use and very sweet.
Hi Maiju, can i recommend a tomatoe variety called 'cerise'. Its by far my favour cherry tomatoe and better flavour than Sungold and sweet million in my opinion
😀 Absolutely and thank you! 💚🌿It seems to be an Italian heritage one? Would I be correct in saying this? a patio tumbler cherry is what Google is telling me 😍 and because its not F1, can save seed.... Sounds very promising ❤️
@@spudsandroses So the plants I have are an indeterminate variety, I bought the seeds from 'Seedaholic' and Irish company. Really hope you like it if you try it 😁
Ah yes. Pottering…. My favourite garden activity. 😊
