Did this on my 04...both drivers and passengers side weren't working. WORKED LIKE A CHAMP!! I just used white vinegar to break up the corrosion. Thanks for the video, super helpful!
THANK YOU!!! Our 2003 F150's (two door) windows has not functioned at all for over a year. (The A/C isn't working, either... next project.) Saw this video and purchased an 11 oz. can of "Max Pro Contact Cleaner" in the electrical department at Menards for about $ 7. I used a small, very thin flat screwdriver with a strong work light at the kitchen table. I was worried about the plastic shattering, but there is a bit of give, thankfully. (Take your time.) Sure enough... the contact area was a black mess. The spray contact cleaner works great... lots of q tips used. (Rubbing alcohol wasn't very helpful at all.) Putting the "w" -shaped electrical things back in right was a challenge, as they can go back in two different ways - but if they are in backwards, the switch controls won't function. Easy enough to fix. (Yes- keeping the top assembly off until you are certain everything functions right is key.) I also tackled the door lock and mirror controls on the same assembly. Lots of junk in there. Cleaned the whole outer control panel with a green scrubbie to get that looking better. Your video saved us needing a new/used panel ( $50 + on ebay) - and the windows both WORK now!!!!
If my window always works going down but is intermittent going back up would the switch be the most likely cause or something else? I usually have to hit the switch about ten times over a period of ten minutes to get the window all the way up, it moves no more than about 2 inches at a time then stops.
My half-sister just spent $500 USD gitn her car fixed with the same problem... Fixed it at the Toyota dealership... I wish I was there. But, she lives.1800 miles from me....
Did this some years ago on my Daughter's series 1Mazda MX5 (Miata in the US). Switch was $100.00 second hand from a wrecking yard. The rocker part could be cleaned, but the fixed contacts, which were rivets, were badly burnt, so I made new rivets and put some 38% silver solder on to them. Still working 8 years later when she sold it.
thank you for your time.. it just so awsome folks posting these videos.. like the fact you fixed it on the roadside.. checking ford forums on all post ford place guys are trolling i need to take to service,, be honest i wouldnt want to pay for this 500 for certified ford guys..
Same situation on my 2007 Ford F150 passenger side window. The only way to roll the passenger side up is from the drivers side controls. And this is Just exactly what I needed Thank you
Hey I wanted to say thank you very much. I just follow the instructions on your video and I believe I might have saved myself about 500 bucks I surely appreciate the instructions I am financially strapped in this saved me four-door 2003 F150 SuperCrew back window goes down not up I just broke it all the way down fix the contactors and it's like brand-new thank you so much again
THANK YOU! Watched your video, fixed my doors, it was that simple. Contacts were filthy. 2008 F150 4.6 with 350,000. Original miles still running strong. Thank you!
Ok, two weeks later, switch won't work again. Passenger side still works when operated from passenger side but drivers side won't operate either window. Thought I had it fixed but now not working again. ALSO...... just replaced the switch with a used switch from a used auto part store and still nothing from passenger side operation. So? What else could it be assuming the contacts are clean, fuse is good and all mechanical parts of the switch are operating correctly? Anyone?
Thanx....I'm going to try that right now because my window has been down for 3 days with plastic over it. Waiting to get into the shop. Thanx again. Well done video too.
This is what pisses me off about American made cars in a lot of instances. I had two Camrys over 12 years old. Every light every switch still worked. I bought the Camrys after having Camaros, a Monty Carlo, a Catalina, a Ford Ranger, and a slew of others. All of those had at least one switch or interior lights that needed replaced or fixed. I found my friends all had the exact same problems. My wife did have a Honda Passport that had a bad door window switch, but she never looked at weather forecasts in the summer to see if it was going to rain over night...lol
I just scraped all of the oxidation off with a sharp pocket knife. Didn't have any so didn't use any deox solution. Contacts were pretty clean after just scraping. All back together, works perfectly. If you are anal and insist on doing it "the right way", I wouldn't talk you out of using the deox, but I'm confident I just cleaned mine enough without it to last for another decade or so. Time will tell.
Thank you for the video. Worked like a charm, and fixed the power lock button too.
Just had to wipe off connectors. Perfectly working window. Thanks.
So, I went online and for $15 I got a new switch. 10 minutes and done. My time is worth more.
What kind of cleaner did he used does anyone has the name of it,thanks!!!
any electronics contact cleaner
Bro dynamite, that whole assembly is 20 bucks on eBay. Why not just replace
Thanks for this. Just fixed the driver's window switch on my 2003 Supercrew. Worked like a charm.......

None of the buttons on my switch are working. Could it be something else?
Thanks! Very informative.
An egg carton is VERY handy for keeping small parts in order AND from getting lost or scattered.
My husband is away this week. Window won't roll up and expecting rain, tonight. Thanks to your video, I fixed my window. Thanks!
I unplugged my switches, cleaned the pins, reconnected them, and it worked again.

Thanks for posting this fix!! I just finished doing this on my 2003 Ford F-150 Super Crew and it did the trick!

Thanks for the video, I hate when those flimsy plastic pieces crumble apart!
Thanks, worked on 04 f150
It worked, just in time as it's dark now here in central California...thank you sir...
Deoxit is the Holy Grail of audio equipment repair.
Component made in mexico. What a surprise.
Gotta try this on my Civic. The auto sometimes brings the window up and back down again.
You just gave me something to do this afternoon and saved me $70, Thanks!
Slick shoes!! Thanks!
Thanks for the response
Nice video
Is there any alternative to the deoxit? Nowhere local seems to sell it.
any electrical contact cleaner will work for the most part
