Bar Soap Review- Pears Transparent Soap

- So finally I caved in and tried the Pears soap. Lots of reviews online show this soap and hacks for eye brows and such. I just wanted to see how it performs as a normal soap. At first the bar looks cool, nicely transparent and very smooth similar to a lifesaver candy (do not eat the soap). The smell out of the box was honey like, and slightly medicinal. The bar had a very oily lather, and the very strong smell of oil of oregano came out. It is a very strong and overpowering soap and was very hard for me to take in. After the second day it was a bit easier to withstand the smell but I still could not make this an everyday soap. If this soap works for you then definitely keep up with what works. Unfortunately for me I just cannot stand the smell and that is a very important factor for me. Overall it is a decent bar if you can take the scent. May leave a bit of dry skin but thats the worst of it. Stay clean.
The Pear soap bar got reformulated in 2009 by Unilever. It used to be a very different bar of soap prior to that. It was produced with a long curing process and had a very different scent. This reformulated bar is just a regular mass produced cheap bar of soap disguised as the original thing. I used the original back in the 90's, and it was the original formula where it gained its reputation as an effective soap for acne. I honestly don't know why people hold this modern version in the same high regard. I too found it oily and miserable in the bath, but strangely enough it gives a soapy lather when used as a hand soap. There's also a blue (supposedly) anti bacterial bar and a green bar with a citrus like scent.
Oh ok I didnt know that unilever bought it. Felt a bit cheap thats for sure. I see the blue one around but that’s probably just another cut and paste version of this with a different scent. Definitely not bad as a hand soap I’d agree. Couldnt bare the smell though. Thanks for the info!
My family used Pear's soap from the 1920s all the way until the 2000s. I used it along with Yardley's until the reformulation in 2009. It is not the same as the Pears I remember from the 1980s and 1990s. That Soap had a larger curvature to the bar and it smelled of real botanical ingredients. It also lasted much longer. I think they replaced all that with chemicals and a cheap base.
Pears was always good to me, that one and the green one. I liked the slickness feel it had when lathering up. But now I'm into higher end stuff. Like Dr.squatch,Duke cannon, and Stirling
Great review
This helped a lot ❤
Sorry this is off topic. But what are the oil of oregano drops when you're sick? Is that a brand or something your mom made and does it work?

Pears soap is not the same, it's smaller. Does not smell as good as it used to. It's not a hard long wearing soap, it's actually soft.
I hope that the fellows content is just one dude opinion, oil of oregano? not even close.
You’re right I was trying to be nice. Smells like crap
