- The future is here! We all love ourselves some raw engine noises BUT electric cars like the Tesla Model 3 are making their way into motorsports. So naturally we had to bring Dai Yoshihara and the Evasive Motorsports Tesla Model 3 Pike's Peak International Hillclimb race car to Tire Slayer Studios for a good ole fashion scumbag session. Be prepared to learn alot about what it takes to make an electric car fast on a race track and a hillclimb. Getting a car that's built for an insane amount of grip isn't easy to get sideways though, but our friend and Formula Drift champion Dai was very up for the challenge, enjoy!

Yeah that's pretty cool, and props to hoonigan for the dono, I remember a couple years I had to get the free school load out as a kid and tbh I was a bit embarrassed by my backpack but I would have been stoked for theirs, clean color schemes can't go wrong. Scotto, please don't paint over the just ain't care mural when Ken commissions a new livery design. place the new one next to the old, and continue doing so until the wall is full, and then on to the next side until Ken retires or you run out of walls. It would get smoked. The aero destroys top end so anything after a couple hundred feet is just drag. Never mind a 1000 ft race like they do.

They're fucking QUICK but SO SILENT it's like the uncanny valley for cars
Just imagine if it was the Tesla plaid. Those things are scary quick. Can do a 9 second quarter mile on the street. Can do 0-60 in under 2 seconds on the street.
Prius' have been mowing down pedestrians since day 1 in like 1998 or 97... whenever they launched... people started getting hit by them... electric cars are basically the silent crosswalk killers.
@@brianm.595 LOL the facts don't match your assumption. Prius don't hit that many people because they are only silent when going very slow. An aging Prius is actually decently loud at speed when the Petrol engine is running.

Formula E cars sound louder because of straight cut gears, they basically sound like the spaceships that you see on sci-fi movies.
Even with no transmission, these cars still have gears on them so i guess a good mod for sound is to use straight cut gears.
There’s just something about hearing no engine just hearing the tires squeal that doesn’t seem normal
I just can't enjoy a burnout without an engine's massive roar.

Okay so I take it that bc of it being a race car and throwing codes it locks out the track mode software. You should (I'm assuming this was a performance model 3) be able to completely turn off traction control and even make it rwd/change the power bias too.
Nope, track mode -10 Traction control only disables 98% of TC.. it won't let you turn off everything.
Using sorcery to break someone's wizardry. So much tech to keep that thing planted, and breaking that on purpose.

Bisimoto runs an aem stand alone ev controller for his tesla ldu swapped Porsche 935 widebody. Check out that build sometime, it's on here.
He got a 1.9s 0-60 out of it. And can do over 200 miles per charge, yet it's actually lighter than the original ice version was.

I have a Model 3, and I can confirm, is EXTREMELY difficult to slide that car. It's much easier if you're on super smooth blacktop, but in general, it doesn't like sideways, it's mad for GRIP. Especially if the tires are cold, but when they get warm and the rubber starts to melt, it's a MUCH different story.

Now that Tesla isn't a pie in the sky pipe dream and they're kicking ass, they should consider in the future opening a race division or at least, product line, where they provide stripped chassis vehicles with the max performance spec and nothing else, and provide a basic API or at least full safety control unlock. Only on market for race teams and not road legal of course. They could essentially sell a chasis with drive train at increased cost without having to do all the later stages of manufacturing, and no doubt start winning major points in the pro vehicle world.

Honestly, Drift Mode in Teslas OEM Track Mode does the job better than those other options. You can lock the wheel, close your eyes and smash the pedal to do donuts.

Tito, anyone that actually puts their own time into assist their community. Big respect. 👏 The Santa Sleigh. 😍 I drove a hardtop, 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood in 1990, here in England. A good friend of mine had it in his workshop for paint. Took it out for a couple of miles.. Err... 😬 It needed a lot more than just paint. Suspension was, 'Under damped' yet comfortable. As was the front bench seat. It was the first time that I drove a car with the steering wheel on the, 'Wrong side'. 🤣😜
I'd love to see a electric company make a Lego style battery+motor platform where enthusiasts of the future could actually customize their hardware. Then instead of tuners, programmers can determine the slippage, simulate torque/hp curves, etc.
If this is the inevitable future, it better at least be as fun to work on as the past. If not, I'm just putting antique plates on my Corolla and stock up on e-fuel #brokecollegelife
sadly will likely never happen because it breaks the rules of planned obsolesce that manufactures have built their businesses around over the last 20 years. Eventually i'm sure some one will figure out how to get around the protections on the motor controllers.

I'm not that cultured on it but i've seen a guy running an ae86 with an electric motor and a 6 speed that was pretty awesome on this channel! I've also seen some builds with overvolted forklift motors that slap some serious ass! Electric might not be the coolest, but people will adapt and we'll see some renewable energy vehicles that are pretty awesome in the coming years, that i'm sure of! As long as there are tires to spin, people will spin 'em!
Put it in service mode and remove speed limiter… or grab the beep boop and get Tesla Toolbox and force it into service mode

This is the only way I would on a Tesla. Wide body, big ass wing, defuser. Only thing I would change is the front splitter, that would be difficult to park with that splitter.

Nice car I'm glad it has a radiator because I always thought it was dumb that Tesla don't use radiators to overcome the cooling problem, mostly it seems like the don't want to use ICE tech to solve problems haha.
Added complexity is always an issue. They don't really "need" radiators unless driven like mad.

Problem was this was a Dual Motor AWD car where you can't disable the front motor. A stock factory fresh Model 3 SR single motor would shred harder than this.

Its single motor front and rear, not 2 motors in the rear. That would be a tri motor and tesla hasn't released a tri motor yet, I know you can get a tri motor cybertruck though
