Colonel Sonam Wangchuk | We for Veterans

In conversation with RJ Raunac, is Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, who served with the Assam Regiment & the Ladakh Scouts. While leading a column of The Indus Wing on 30th May 1999, in a daring counter-ambush, Colonel Wangchuk led a raid on the enemy position killing two enemy soldiers & recovering one heavy machine gun & one universal machine gun, ammunition, controlled stores & three dead bodies of the enemy personnel.
He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second-highest award for displaying exceptional bravery in the presence of enemy fire & in extreme climatic conditions in a glaciated area.
