- Hey!! Today we are doing a bit of everything... more house projects, clean with me, decorating our front porch for spring & starting our kitchen demo! I'm painting some DIY closet shelves we put into our boys closets last week, decluttering their toys, organizing them, cleaning our home for company (Kyle's Mom & Gpa are coming!), as well as Spring decorating & finally, sharing some sneak peeks of our kitchen island being cut down so that we can get countertops put on this week!! *Im currently waiting for the countertop guys to walk in with our new counters and I am so excited!!! SOOOO many fun things have been happening around our home these past weeks… but now it’s getting real! Next week will be Liam’s full bathroom makeover 😍 and the following week y’all will see our brand new countertops & we will be making the final plans for paint, backsplash, all the things! I never use my rags to clean my commode. Throw away cloth always. ❤
It might not be so much about making the bed in the morning but the joy of pulling back the covers on a nicely made bed before going to bed. I find that to be so comforting.

I have taught my now teenage son and my handicapped brother to make the tie bed. They choose not to… except when I make them. I make my bed everyday. It feels so good to come home to a clean welcoming bedroom. Someday my kid will want that too. Tips- keep it simple- seriously simplify the bedding and pillows. The faster they can get the job done, the better it is for them to be successful.

Re: Beds. I was always expected to make my bed from the time I started school in Kindergarten! Just kept it simple. Pull the sheets and blankets up, add the bed pillow, and done. I always added toys to wait for me until I got home, lol. That habit (minus the stuffed toys) stayed with me all my life. I taught my kids, too. They didn’t always do it, but really, it’s simple. Especially now that sheets seem to have gone out of style! It only takes a couple quick minutes.
I make my bed every day . When my children were young ,I taught them to make their bed every day. I started out helping them but gradually I would do less and less to help them. The beds weren't perfect but as they grew older ,they got better. I even taught my boys to cook,wash dishes ,clean and do laundry. My 2 daughter in laws love me because my sons help so much !!

Hey, the boys' rooms look great with the new shelving & paint! I use paper towels to clean the toilet around the bottom, etc. Don't use a rag. If I did, I'd throw it away afterward! So excited for you with the countertop shop off. It'll look beautiful when all is done! So will the boys' bathroom! I can't wait to see it all done! I have never liked closets without their doors but it's your house and you have to do what works best for you.
On one of your painting videos, you showed yourself putting down painters tape but leaving it half off, and then just attaching the plastic drop cloth to it, easy-peasy. And I was like “💡🤯! That’s how to do it!!” I’m finishing up my kitchen, getting ready to spray the cabinet doors, and had no idea how to hang plastic for a spray station. Your demonstration helped me figure it out, and now I’m ready to spray tomorrow! I know this is random, but I’m so grateful, I just had to thank you! My kitchen has been so much work, but I’ve learned a ton.

Oh I like the silver bars and the closet it makes it more modern. I mean you know what you like best but I love the silver bars and there it just makes it look modern

The shelves look awesome painted that color and the baskets look great with the shelves. I am so tired after watching what all you did to get ready for family. You are unbelievable girl!! I like how you decorated the boys rooms based on their hobbies/favorite things. I use disposable disinfecting wipes to clean my toilets. Your spring decor looks very nice. I just change the wreaths on my front door (I live where there is an “association.”)

We had rain, sleet and snow today!! And in the 30's! Brrrrrrrr!! It was in the 80's yesterday!!
Love your vids. Yes, I make my bed every day. It's the biggest piece of furniture in the room and when it isn't made the whole room looks messy. The trick to easy bed-making is having just a few pieces. Rather than blankets with a top sheet, use a duvet with a cover. One shake and the bed is made. Straighten the pillows and Voila!
For the toilet I use a paper towel. I used to use wipes but they're wasteful so I switched to Bounty/Plenty with whatever disinfecting cleaner I have on hand.
I use a paper towel and disposable toilet bowl cleaners to clean my toilets also. I didn’t make my son make his bed every day honestly until he graduated from high school. He only did it before then if there actually was extra time before school. I made mine, but just didn’t have the oomph to add one more thing to the routine to get us out the door for work and school on time. I did however have him change the sheets on his bed and make it with the fresh sheets from middle school on. He does make his bed every day now.
Glad you had a nice visit with the family! The closets and porch look good and I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the projects! So exciting for you about the kitchen. We redid ours about 4 years ago and I remember being so excited to pick out everything and even to organize the cabinets and drawers after!
Amanda, you always do such a nice job! It was so satisfying to see that frog tape pulled off, and you did a fantastic job cutting in, too. The boys' rooms and closets look fabulous! I use those disposable cloths to clean the toilet too. Your cats are so cute, they're such a hoot when you discover their hiding spots! 🤣😂 I'm glad you had a nice visit with family! I have got in the habit of when I wake up to make my bed as that starts my day feeling accomplished then I easily feel like I can tackle the next chore after that. I heard of this from Amy Darley-you tuber-and it has helped me so much! 🌼 Amanda, I love the guest basket idea-I am so doing this! Thanks for sharing! 🌼 I would love to decorate the front of my home but don’t have really an area to decorate by my front door. Also it is so windy in the summer season in our desert climate. 🌼 The front porch looks so nice and love the Spring Vibes. 🌼 How exciting for your kitchen renovation and also bathroom remodels. It’s nice how when buying a home you can make it so custom and entirely do what fits your style🌼

☀️Hi Amanda!☀️ Closets turned out GREAT! The Pebble paint color is so AWESOME and VERSATILE! Looks great in every part of the home…it’s my favorite too! 😂Liam was so cute…you could see how he was keeping everything in his toy boxes!Sweet boy toys! I think the closet open will help them have that mindset of “keep it tidy”😉The beds? Tell them to at least throw comforter over the top…soon you will see that they make the entire bed!👍🤭

Yea! It totally is a very versatile paint! I’ll be using it again in Mondays video 😅 and Omgsh it was funny to hear Noah say “get rid of it, don’t want that, donate it” to so many things… and Liam was like “yes I love that, of course I want to keep that, I definitely play with that one” 😅😅😅 and I’ve actually seen them keeping their closets way tidier now that everything has a home & is easily accessible 💗
I make my bed every day, and I have my kids make their beds every day. I bit the bullet a couple years ago and bought Beddy's, and it makes it super easy for them. However even before that, I bought comforters one size bigger than their bed, and tucked the blanket under the bed completely on the wall side, and left the other side untucked (side facing the door). That way they can get in and out of the untucked side, and to make the bed all they had to do is straighten it out.

My best friend owns her own cleaning business. She uses paper towels or disposable cleaning wipes to clean the toilet. By the way, I’m so happy your house is coming along beautifully!

The boy's bedrooms look amazing. The accent walls look really sharp.
You mentioned about using the disposable wipes; because we had a dog at the time, I found using the wipes and paper towels was the best option for me when cleaning the outside of the toilet. Even though I would vacuum and mop before cleaning the toilet, I would still end up with dog hair all over it. So, using the wipes and paper towels worked better to remove it .

Your home is always so inviting from the front door to the inside of your home. The boys closest are looking so sharp. I am sure your guest felt so welcoming. I love the ideal of the guest basket. You are making your bed again and I have to say congratulations. We had to make our bed before school every morning. My father wanted us to eat breakfast with him and that allowed us the extra time in the morning however if it wasn't made we had to do it when we got home. If you can just get them to pick up their rooms and put the laundry downstairs that would be a great help to you. I am so excited to see what's next. As you say till next time. Have a blessed week.
That’s so awesome you had great habits growing up! And such special time with your dad! Right now the boys usually pick up their bedrooms in the evening when we do a family tidy (most nights) and they bring their laundry down, back up & put away (among other chores around the house) but making their bed daily hasn’t been one I’ve put much focus on, which is funny since I’ve seen such a benefit from it for years!

My girls had many chores as kids, making beds, cleaning the kitchen etc. My daughter already has my 9yr old grandson making his bed, cleaning his bathroom and putting away his laundry.

Me and my husband are 47 this year. We got together at 16. 1 month after we starting dating he proposed. We had a long engagement and tied the knot 1 month before our 21st birthdays. We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary last year (25 years). Been together 30 years!! I knew as well after one month he was the one. My heart ached everytime he had to go home. I know its soppy but when its love, its love ❤❤
ABSOLUTELY I always use a disposable wipe for the toilets!!! I would never use a reusable cloth for a toilet, but if you chose to do that, and then wash it, that seems even more wasteful to me.
We put bed making on the kids daily chore chart. Morning chores must be completed before school. Getting the Beddy’s zip up bedding makes it super simple for them. You should collaborate with Beddy’s!

We used to have zip it bedding when Luke & Liam were little (they were a company right before beddys I believe. (Or maybe they turned into beddys haha idk) but I’ve thought about that for Liam & Noah! 💗

As a decorator, I would use wood hangers in your closets that all match... I would not paint the clothes poles, you might regret that because over time that paint will start scratching off the metal. Any upscale closet or boutique has silver hanger rods. You could also use black velvet hangers too... Amazon is a great place for wood hangers in different colors and black velvet. White wood would look great OR black velvet... Just a suggestion... Hope that helps! I enjoy watching your busy crazy life... sweet family! Your doing a great job, well done!

The closet for me has to have doors lol I love wallpaper in back wall of closets. I do like the shelves you got going on. For me making beds is a ritual lol extremely OCD. Once beds are done you have a sense of start point and accomplishment. Beds for me are a place to look forward to at the end of the day so I like them immaculate, wrinkle free and fluffy. My husband teases me and always bets a coin can bounce. My older kids know that they have to be dressed up and beds made before breakfast, we homeschool. Is essential part of getting started. Maybe I can teach hotel classes on making beds. 😂 Your bathroom projects are so exciting. Your home is looking really nice🎉
Hi 👋 the wardrobes turned out so good. I clean my toilets with throw away clothes. I have always make my children’s beds but I get them to make them on weekends. Wow the kitchen is getting done ❤🇦🇺😘

Great job as always. You know it's not hard to change the closet doors to French doors Kelsey ramito did her daughters on her channel and they turn out great. So if the mess starts to get to you that's always an option. And it's super budget friendly. There room are still so nice. You and Kyle did such a good job on them. Maybe you can use a disinfectant spray and paper towels you can put in recycling. I don't know that's one of my biggest issues also. I know the boys love it when you clean there rooms. There's just something about a room cleaned by your mom. It's like chef's kiss. What a life you and Kyle have built. It's funny cause at 17 your vision of love is so different from what it really is. How blessed you were to find your person so early in life. Must be really gratifying to know you chose right in finding that person willing to put in the work with you.
Oh yes! We’ve thought about converting them to French doors, but not sure if there would be enough room in Liam’s bedroom? And that’s a good idea for a disposable toilet cleaning option 💗 and we are so thankful to have found each other so many years ago!!🥰

This is such an exciting journey. I’m in awe that the boys rooms and the porch are all getting the ‘special’ treatment even as you do a bathroom and kitchen renovation! AND you had guests. WOW what energy and pizazz you have Amanda. I think back to when I was married and remember my ex taking a month to paint one room.
Sure I have done an awful lot of renos on my own since- getting tradesmen costs a lot of money. I have done what I could myself however I’m more of a crafter so I do twiddly bits, cleaning and sorting etc. Certainly no where near to your achievements. You totally rock. Happy 14th wedding anniversary you 2 are an awesome force/team a total joy to watch. You are my inspiration for sure. No 1 fan 🇦🇺
I seriously appreciated the warning on snaking the drain! I know it needs to be done…but it’s just the grossest thing ever. I think if my wonderful hubby didn’t handle it I would be willing to hire a plumber to come do it! 😂

I love the way you take the time to know your boys likes and dislikes.
To get to understand their personalities that is much more important than whether your house is pristine or not, some people go to extremes, not wanting a hair out of place or a floor to have a speck of dirt on it.
People are much more important than things, if you lost your children or your husband, would you care whether your house was pristine or not I would like to think not!!!!!!

Hi Amanda- definitely team disposable cleaning cloths for the toilet! The boy’s closets look great! Love the color contrast. You certainly have a knack for decorating. Definitely have to have beds made in the morning. Taught our kids to make them when they get up. They didn’t have to be perfect just as long the effort was made. It didn’t take long before they were doing it without reminders. You’re so sweet & thoughtful in making your guests feel welcome. Love the “Amanda & Kyle” story. Front porch is gorgeous!! I agree the toilet is the worst, I have found that the spin mop is the easiest way to clean it. Then I don't have to touch anything.

About the cloths for cleaning toilets, i work as a cleaner and i use color coded microfiber cloths so it always the same ones for toilets/bathrooms and they dont get mixed up, i got pink for toilets/bathrooms blue for kitchens ect, and if you fold them (im sure you can find a quick guide somewhere) you can very quickly swap to clean sides of your microfiber
Loving the vlog ❤ you cover everything which is so great . With the bed making thing maybe it would be a good help on the day of bed changing for each child to strip off the bedding and take it to laundry room. Think it just helps in a small way .
Hi Amanda, love the closets, they look great. For toilets, I purchased different color rags and my toilets always get the green ones. This way they aren’t used for anything else.
I use microfiber cloths for my kitchen in one color,and another color for my windows. I also have some odds and ends of rags for my dirty bathroom stuff. I do have Clorox wipes for quick touchups on the easier clean wipe ups. Great job Amanda👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The thing that I love about our bathrooms here in Turkiye is that we have tiles from bottom up to the walls and we also have drainage in the bathroom aswell as in the shower so I can wash the whole bathroom with lots of bubbles 😅 I can't wait for the kitchen Reno 🎉❤

Yes I have our 9 year old make his bed. He’s been making his bed since he was 2 years old. No tricks were needed for us.
That’s amazing!! Looking back, I totally wish I would have taught them to do that when they were younger like you did 💗
You are so ambitious! Love all the changes you are doing to your home. And to your question about making beds - - yes, that is the first thing I do when I get out of bed and also taught my son to make his own bed early on. It just sets the organizational tone for the day and makes you feel better looking at the room.
I really need to help teach our kids that habit! Give them a boost to their day 💗
I love to guest baskets also but never thought to put water and snacks in them; good idea. I also put a little sign in the guest room with our wifi info
Actually having water bottles helped so much when we went to the boys football games and outings while they were here, they carried their water bottles we gave them the whole time! So useful!
Disposable wipes for areas like outside toilets, cabinet or doorknobs that get a lot of traffic. I also disinfect with a spray bottle that’s 50/50 alcohol and water. Sometimes a few drops of dish soap if I’m not using a wipe.
I taught my kids to do their beds as soon as they get up. Took a few weeks for them to get it together but it worked. All six of them. 😂 I started when they were about 3 or so.

Liam looks just like Kyle, (total twins). I use a specific white re-usable cloths for the bathroom and they are washed in bleach on the sanitize setting on the washing machine. My bed is made everyday, who makes it depends who the last person getting up, normally my husband, I am an early bird. My kids don't make their bed every day. I use to do it for them but they are teenagers so that is their responsibility now.
Crunch time! I've been there, so I know the anxiety that comes with trying to get it all done before the guests arrive. Love those closets btw. You're a rockstar!
Right? There always is so much to do when guests arrive… and most of it is the pressure we put on ourselves!

About bed making: I have to be at work at 5am so making the bed in the morning is nearly impossible for me. However, I can't go to bed without the bed being made.....so every night I make my bed then get into it. Just thought I'd share my weird bed making habit. Also, I think Summer break would be a great opportunity to teach the boys to make their beds. Maybe make it a game to see who can get it done the fastest before going out to swim or play or whatever.

Making the bed is usually first thing I do when I get up before leaving bedroom. Can't stand an unmade bed. Once bed is made the room looks neat.
My boys’ closet layouts are very similar to this. I’d love to get in there and organize and pretty them up!

I make my bed every day... makes it feel more special to come into the room and jump into a fresh bed that's fresh to get under. When my daughter was younger it made it easier for her to make if it was literally just pulling up the donna cover... don't complicate it for them.
Awe… love the kitties 💕 what a worker bee you are, Amanda . You inspire me all the time. Yes, keep disposables wipes for those toilets . I use thicker baby wipes, non-flushable.

Your house is so lovely. 😅it’s so nice with all the bedrooms. We used to have at least 4 bedrooms because of three girls, but everyone is out and my husband made the last two out of 1. He broke down the wall. Imagine the space now.

when i taught my son to make his bed i added it in his morning routine i would go into his room and help him make his bed and pick up before he went to school

My daughters 46 & 50 were taught to make their beds every morning and proud to say that they still do that. My grandson, 18, was also taught to make his bed every morning and he will not leave his bedroom if his bed is not made ... Even on school days. That and a clean and tidy bathroom, kitchen and livingroom is something I will not stop to do. Yes, I do have OCD 😂
Removing the tape after painting is so satisfying. I really like how the closets looks now and I think the mat black rails will look beautiful
It seriously is the best part! That’s when you know the paint job is done! Hahaha
On the bed-making-my boys have to do daily jobs before they’re allowed to play video games, and that’s one of them. I also made Beddys dupes for my two younger boys who have bunk beds, so it’s much easier for them.
I use o Enid my rags to clean it then use paper towel
S to dry. I throw in wash when done. It gets disinfected in the wash. I don’t worry about it.
Lookin good a little tip for you when you use your paint tray put a plastic bag over it and when your done painting just fold it back over on itself and ta da all clean one less job lol ❤

Amanda, every Saturday Morning I had my daughter remove her bedding and take them to the laundry room. Her bed was so easy to make. All she had to do was throw the top sheet and spread them up to the top and place on the pillow. It didn’t have to be perfect I just asked her to do the best she could. When it was summer break I wanted her to make it like I made it. Before long she did it daily and did a good job.
