The study needs people who eat well, have a "happy life"...are not clinically depressed, have any type of allergies, and do this for 'patient health'... not for money. If you eat McDonald's foods, you are NOT a candidate...no offense.

My cousin has this, and she is in the hospital, they say this is the worst case they have ever seen, she has to be transferred to john Hopkins hospital, to have the fecal transplant, at this point they are waiting for a bed for her. her potassium is very low and a lot of blood and at times clots in her stool, her mouth inside has become green, with yeast infection in her mouth and her skin is peeling off her lips! she is very weak! Our family is so worried about her, we live in Ohio, and she is in Maryland. She lives alone as well, and its going to be some time before she gets out after this, and is transferred back the the Cumberland hospital for rehab. thank you for your video, I have never herd of such a thing! well done to those who have made this possible

If it's C diff the cure rate has been labeled as "miraculous", with a 95-98% cure rate. I've heard some doctors say 100%. And doctors can only legally use FMT in the worst of cases, I believe after three rounds of antibiotics haven't worked. From what I have read after only one transplant you health improves a significant amount the by the next day.

I wonder if the patient's residual symptoms/problems were from taking an antibiotic in the ciprofloxacin family of drugs?
Patients who have been "floxed" often take many months or even years to recover, and some damage is permanent. The FDA has recently held hearings (Oct.2015) and added additional Black Box warnings to some of the antibiotics. Estimates are that every year between 3k to 30k patients actually die from the side effects of those antibiotics. Though deaths used to be attributed to other causes it has been determined that the antibiotic can be deadly, and after years of misdiagnosis and unrelenting pain and suffering, even responsible for many suicides.
Now that the FDA is finally admitting that the antibiotics are responsible for serious health issues patients are finally being taken seriously and getting help from the informed medical care providers. The bad news is that many in the medical filed are still unaware of the dangers these antibiotics pose for many patients.

fuck! I was given ciproflaxin for about 6 bloody months, for kidney infections that _I didn't even bloody need!_ , doctors (some of them) are vile and need to be horse-whipped for over prescribing everything from antibiotix, and benzos, oxys, etc.
      it's reprehensible.
thank goodness for forward thinking doctors like on here.
out of interest, how long does it take for one to recover from cipro?
they're talking about dosing me again with it for a chest infection.I understand it's in the chemotherapeutic family of medicines, but I don't know much else.cheers.

Antbiotics ending in -floxacin are in a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. They are broad spectrum and wreak havoc on the gut microbiome. We recommend anyone taking antibiotics to drink kefir and to take a high quality multi-probiotic.

    • @DrFormulas
      @DrFormulas 4 года назад +1

@@sprokiemeisie981 While antibiotic-associated diarrhea usually resolves by itself, it can sometimes worsen and become C diff. Your gut microbiome ever really "recovers" from broad spectrum antibiotics because its composition changes drastically after antibiotic use. It is important to be proactive and to take probiotics alongside antibiotics.

I am a 42 year old female who was diagnosed with Crohns Disease at the age of 17. I underwent a total colrctomy because my entire colon was severely eaten up with crohns. I underwent this surgery because I continued bleeding from my rectum and although I was on lots of meds, they all failed to put my Crohns into complete remission,so surgery was my final option. Had I not chosen to undergo surgery,I would be been dead so my surgery was a life and death situation. I'd have bled to death. Overall before I underwent this surgery,I had received 4 pints of blood to help raise my hemoglobin levels. My surgeon told my mom after my 1st surgery that my colon was so severely diseased that it literally fell apart in his hands. He asked my mom and dad how I'd become so sick and so quickly too. My surgeon then went on to say that during his 30 PLUS YEARS as a colon and rectal surgeon,he'd never seen a colon so severely diseased as mine was. Had I waited a week longer, I'd have been 6 feet under because my colon was on the verge of perforating, which would be made me severely I'll and I'd been fighting for my life. 3 days after my 18th birthday,I underwent this surgery. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present than that because I felt like I was given my life back. Since my colon was removed, I had to adapt to a new way of using the bathroom which was by a stoma, which is made from your terminal ileum and the fecal contents were detoured through that and all of the stool was diverted through and empties into the pouch, then open the end of the pouch with the stool into the commode, like someone who uses the restroom the normal way. They call it an ileostomy. Has anyone ever heard of crohns Disease and ulcerative Colitis? They're collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Ulcerative Colitis disease and is confined to the colon ; however, Crohns affects anywhere along the GI tract and there is currently no cure. I'd like to know if it's possible to use a fecal transplahent on an ileostomy patient who suffers with Crohns Disease? Have any clinical trials been done to see if doing a fecal transplant on an ileostomy Crohns Disease patient would help bring such patient into remission without traditional medical therapies. I'd like to apologize to everyone for getting carried away on my comment.

If it smells more than a light smell then you have a problem with your digestion. Having two tablespoons of Ispagul (husk of plantago ovata) with meals, with juice with water etc. is the best. My poop hardly ever smells or the gas, which is absolutely minimal. The best brand of it is the old and trusted "Telephone Brand- Sat Isabgol" from India. It is so comfortable to pass motions and in an emergency, you don't even need to wipe yourself !! It comes out that smooth and lubricated. The western medical brands are not as good. My mom has been giving it to me since childhood.

If you loved this video, you may also want to know that Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) is taking someone else’s stool (which contains their gut microbiota) and putting it into you or whoever is receiving the FMT. This process has been found to be more effective than a probiotic because if you get the stool from a healthy donor, you get more diversity than you would in a probiotic!

If you loved this video, you may also want to know that at this time, the FDA has only approved Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) for c-difficile (c-diff) infection, which is a really severe, recurrent infection. Antibiotics are used to treat c-diff, but the infection has a really high chance of recurring, which results in having to take more antibiotics, and then the bacteria become resistant to the antiobiotic! C-diff can also result in malnourishment. But FMT can help!

If you liked this video, you may also be interested to know that Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) have a 90% success rate in exchange for relatively low risk. So there is some risk that exists with this procedure. For example, one person receiving FMT got an e-coli infection because the transfer was done in a home setting, not in a healthcare or research setting. When the procedure is done in a clinical setting, the stool is screened to prevent the transfer of aggressive pathogens!

If you found this informative, you may also want to know that at this time, the FDA has only approved Fecal Microbial Transplants (FMT) for c-difficile (c-diff) infection, which is a really severe, recurrent infection. Antibiotics are used to treat c-diff, but the infection has a really high chance of recurring, which results in having to take more antibiotics, and then the bacteria become resistant to the antiobiotic! C-diff can also result in malnourishment. But FMT can help!

About to get an FMT in a few hours! Been having Cdiff since end of Dec last year, so 5-6 months I've been through this hell. Lost almost 15lbs. Tried Flagyl, 2 rounds of Vanco & Dificid and NOTHING helped! Literally a pain in the arse... This is my last resort so I'm hoping for the best. I will try to report back my results in few days...

as someone who had severe, unresponsive ulcerative colitis for 8 years, decided to remove my colon and has almost lost her life twice to ulcerative colitis related issues...i know a lot of shit about shit! i cannot believe that that guy had c diff for a prolonged time and no one knew it! that's literally blowing my mind! when i was treated for my flare ups, i was admired and quarantined for c diff as a precaution. i can't believe that whoever was treating him didn't do that...i guess i'm lucky to have had great medical care and knowledgeable doctors

Hmm does he have chronic c. Diff? Patients that have under gone abx therapy sometimes can develop it. But there are specific abx that can target c. Diff. Normally you can taken pills of flagyl or in worst cases IV flagyl or liquid vancomycin. I've seen patients recover from c. Diff. In the hospital all the time, and of course resolution of symptoms, including diarrhea.

    • @Rameneater84

This guy needs a therapist because of c. Diff? He must have some really hard time coping with life itself. Not to be mean lol but c. Diff. Is highly treatable.

Kenny Tai Your thinking is way simplified. Say that you have diarrhea at random times, pain and can't sleep all the time. Would you like to hang out with friends? Do sports? Would it be simple to keep a job if you can't be effective? Would you at all enjoy going somewhere knowing you could suddenly shit your pants? This guy probably has a lot of stuff he's depressed about, and THAT is why he's seeing a therapist. You better know how to understand people if you're working with people, or I feel sorry for them that you can't understand what their problem because you haven't gone through it yourself.

Kenny Tai He also made it sound like the doctors didn't find what was wrong with him for a very long time. For your body to be in such a weak state and to get to the point that there is no hope will definitely drain you emotionally and mentally. You could say he felt like his life was going down the toilet.

As c.diff "survivor" I did a fecal transplant under the direction of my infectious disease doc 11 yrs ago and at home. My sib and mother were donors and went thru testing so they couldn't give me some other parasite or disease. The hospital didn't have "protocols" in place to do the transplant in Canada. I contracted c.diff after a bowel resection and my body was so done after 8 rounds of chemo and a resulting stroke as a complication of chemo. I was taking Flagyl as well as oral vanco to no avail. C.diff may be "highly treatable" in a healthy body but I was so depleted after so much chemo and complications my body couldn't kick c.diff's butt. My fam and I used lots of humour to get thru it tho....I had to buy my own blender to "complete the transaction" so to speak. It was disgusting tho!

Kenny Tai you do understand this is a chronic illness and very hard to get rid of with antibiotics. It's very embarrassing for the patients as well as very painful they can also become anorexic they can also die. Do you work in the healthcare field? If you do you must be new because I've worked in it for 29 years and have lots of experience with this so I know what I'm talking about I'm not just blowing off steam.
