the NBA changed on dwight and combined with his injuries he was extremely disrespected. shaq would have ended up very similarly if he came in during that transition period too. shaq and dwight are some of the closest comparable players both physical ability coming in and especially personality wise.
it always baffles me people praise shaq's personality when he is as identical personality wise to dwight as we will probably ever see.

Surprised that you didn't mention his team's role in his success. The Magic surrounded him with 4 deadly shooters at all times. On top of this I think the Hedo-D12 pick&roll was historically strong. Hedo was playing as a 6'10 point forward, career 39% 3 point shooter and a very high IQ player who was an all-time passer in his prime. People claim he failed in LA because of his attitude or his injuries but I simply think his numbers went down because he didn't have a system that played around his abilities.

Dwight was ahead of his time before his injury. The magic shot a bunch of 3s and he would run down the court and run the pick and roll extremely effectively. Rebounding, rim protection, quick feet, lobs.Jesus he was incredible

not taking anything from Dwight or the other guys but let's be real - that PTS, RBS, BLK statline is overrated cause blocks weren't a stat till whichever year. if blocks existed in Wilt's era , he alone would have more 20/14/2 seasons than the rest of those guys combined

People saying this dude don't deserve HOF didnt watch NBA back then and it shows. Dwight wasn't being compared to guys like Shaq for no reason. Dude was dominant, a defensive monster and the athleticism he had was out of this world. He dominated the NBA with defense and averaged a double double his whole career(Aside from recently when he got hurt). If it wasn't for injuries that slowed him down, he would have been far better than how he's turned out.
